Goosefeather
warrior - male - 29 moons
location: east pond
tags: Firecry
He watched as the other warrior seemed to search for prey without luck, although he would have never said anything about it, especially not since the fish he had caught himself was small and not necessarily what he had expected to catch. He nodded towards Firecry when the tom announced he would try the other side. A shiver ran down his back, like a bad omen, the feeling that something not quite right. He raised his nose, taking in the air, sniffing for anything out of the ordinary. Just as he thought he was picking somehting up, Firecry returned, carrying a fish.
"Ah, a lucky catch, I see," Goosefeather meowed as he walked to meet his clanmate, although he then stopped in his tracks, noting that the fish Firecry was carrying did not look like it had just freshly been pulled out of the water.
"Certainly, let me have a look," he said, somewhat intrigued. He wondered what Firecry could have possibly seen, and swiftly forgot about their competition and hastened his steps to return back to where the other cat had come from. His senses heightened, and he was looking for something out of the ordinary, so the smell of dead badger caught him before he saw the animal himself. He stopped, uncertain about what it was that he was looking at. He did not like to guess or to speak out loud any theories when he was unsure. The warrior came closer to the badger, although he did not dare touch it.
"Do you think something killed it? Something else must have been here; as far as I'm aware badgers do not go on fishing trips."
Petalpaw
apprentice - female - 6 moons
location: camp
tags: Ravenflight, Smokestorm, Leafpaw, Basilpaw
Before she could quite realise what was happening, Ravenflight had tackled her to the ground, a shocked meow escaping the apprentice's mouth as she had so easily been overpowered. She rolled to the side, getting herself up from the floor and frantically licked at her chest, where her fur was standing up in all kinds of directions.
"Well that's not fair! You're so much bigger than me! And you've had lots more time to practice!" she finally exclaimed. As she looked to her side, she realised that Smokestorm had appeared, as well as her fellow apprentice Leafpaw; she saw both of them as family, in a way, given how Smokestorm had helped her mother raise her and her siblings and Leafpaw had been added to them as well. This did not mean that she always got along with Leafpaw, suddenly feeling embarassed not only to be called out by her uncle Smokestorm in front of Leafpaw, but also how swiftly Leafpaw had offered assistance to Ravenflight, clearly having seen how easily the elder had overcome Petalpaw despite her age and health. Catching Smokestorm's offer to the elder of getting her something from the freshkill pile, Petalpaw saw an opportunity to jump in once more;
"Maybe I can go hunt you something! I could hunt a rabbit all by myself! It will be plenty for you and so fresh! The best rabbit you've ever had, I guarantee!" Basilpaw, who was ever so slightly older, and the daughter of Claystar, had approached as well, and kindly offered to resume the practice tackle with Petalpaw. In a perhaps rather rare move of introspection, Petalpaw decided that she stood much better chances in a fight against Basilpaw than she did in one against Ravenflight, but also that she had perhaps humiliated herself enough in front of Leafpaw.
