Yep, the Mexican gray wolf, or Mexican wolf if you prefer, is extinct in the wild. I don't care much about grey wolves at this point (no offense or anything, it's just that they're least concern), but It's pretty bad that people are continuing to hunt endangered breeds (Red wolf, Ethiopian wolf, you get it.). I think that what the zoo keepers or whoever has the Mexican wolves should do is to breed a male and a female; unless they only have Mexican grey wolves of the same sex in every enclosure; which I don't think is the case, since they could be basically considered extinct if it were.

Gray wolves may be okay, but wolves like red wolves and Ethiopian wolves are in danger as well. So are Mexican wolves. This thread isn't just about gray wolves.

there is talk red wolves might be natural hybreds with coyote.

That's true, they are a cross between a coyote and a gray wolf, and aren't even considered a sub-species of a gray wolf. I believe they were made their own species. Apparently, there are only like 300 left.

I'm not completely against wolf hunting. For example, if one tried to attack me, i'd shoot it. If I found one in my backyard, i'd probably chase it out. And I don't think wolves are kindhearted or gentle animals, sorry. That's why i'm not gonna join.

And if you don't agree that wolves are kind-hearted or gentle, that's fine. But they can be a lot like humans, too. I read that when a pup dies, they mourn about it for days and even bury the pup.

I would love it if there was a wolf in my yard too! There hasen't been many wolves were I live for a long time though.Also I am against wolf hunting COMPLETLY.
