Territory
Reefclan resides on a rocky beach surrounded by mountains and small forests. The ocean breeze keeps the weather cooler and the cats are excellent swimmers. There is a colorful coral reef in the waters is untouched by two-legs. They are far from any two-legs and rarely see any.

Camp
The clan resides in a cave system that over looks the ocean. They are skilled climbers and skilled swimmers. The camp often feels the ocean spray so tend to stay inside the caves unless going out for patrols or other matters.

Culture
Reefclan cats are very isolated from others so they tend to be shy towards new cats. This doesn't mean they're hostile though. They often collect seashells and give precious shells to those they care about. They also like to adorn their pelts with feathers and flowers they find on patrols. During warm months, it isn't uncommon to find the cats swimming in the ocean for fun.

until 76 cats:

Laika, Strelka, and Belka were all getting restless in the nursery, only a moon away from becoming trappers allowing them to train and leave the safety of the camp with only supervision from their respective mentors and not Lacey and Mudslide.
Belka spent the majority of his time hanging out with Everflame, listening and later repeating their stories to his sisters. He was most excited about the upcoming chances of going on such adventures himself, and dismissed any reality checks Lacey brought up about whether all stories are real or end well. Belka was more concerned about becoming a main character in stories he would tell in the future. Even though the majority of trappers graduated as sinkers since there was more demand, Belka aspired to be an aboveground exploring surveyor.
Strelka was incredibly interested in the secrets that the dark mines held, already preferring to spend time alone out of the crowds. Laika could tell the whispers of Rachmaninoff’s demise silently fascinated her, as she didn’t witness firsthand the raw grief of the patrols, Strelka thought that even more extensive catelogging and mapping tunnels would reduce future accidents.
Laika herself had little interest in the mines even feeling their sturdy caves they slept in could be seconds from collapse. She had even moved her nest to be as close to the entrance as possible and awoke at any hint of rocks shifting. This behavior worried Lacey the most but other than sleep-inducing herbs that Aether refused to dole out for something non-life-threatening, she couldn’t find a way to comfort her worried kitten.
Although Laika would much rather be a surveyor like Belka, she wasn’t as keen on adventures like her brother. She was much more interested in the inner workings of Earthfall, managing and understanding the cats themselves, and possessing personal information about said cats.
Information such as Piedpiper being pregnant, coming back from a gathering of various other clan cats in the area successful at finding a surrogate for her and Muffin. Belka was once again off with Everflame, so Strelka and Laika were in charge of gathering moss and feathers for Piedpiper’s nursery nest. Even though she insisted she was just a little pregnant and for everyone to treat her like normal, Machete was already re-assigned to Axis, and the molly was removed from daily patrols. While Piedpiper was arguing with Nyx about her decision, Muffin was happily helping the kittens find fallen feathers and moss near one of the mine’s exits and sheltered from the rainstorm that was slowly subsiding through the ravine.
“Is she even going to stay in the nursery with us?” Strelka grumbled as a thorn pricked her paw reaching for a good chunk of moss.
“Eventually,” Muffin hummed as she quickly licked the bead of blood that had appeared on the kit’s paw pad, “I feel bad for Nyx having to talk to her but better her than me.”
“And what do you mean by that?” Piedpiper’s high pitched voice was sharp on the other side of the bush and she stepped into view. Her lithe figure slightly softer in a few places being the only indication so far she was expecting a litter.
“I actually value our time when we’re not arguing, dear,” Muffin licked her mate's face with a purr, “so complain to Nyx all you like.”
“A lot good that did too,” Piedpiper still grumbled but the fur on her back settled, easily consoled by Muffin. “Cerberus is on her side, and he’s convinced that I’m some sort of delicate flower.”
“They’ll be his first grand-kits.” Muffin pointed out.
“Not even,” Piedpiper huffed and admitted defeat by swatting Strelka’s pile of moss towards herself to carry. “It’s a miracle Axis or Ward hasn’t come back with a litter of kits themselves. You’ve heard how much they brag about wooing the mollies.” The two older mollies frowned as the rain tapered off but the wind still howled. “Though I don’t envy being out in this weather,” Piedpiper conceded.
Losing her pile of moss Strelka gathered, she tried to swipe half of Laika’s stash of feathers. “Get lost,” Laika quietly hissed in her ear, “these are mine.”
“I can’t just go back carrying nothing,” Strelka argued with a sturdy strike to Laika’s nose. While she was stunned, Strelka snatched up a mouthful of feathers.
Blinking the involuntary tears away, Laika gathered the leftover feathers with her claws while glaring at her sister. She pointedly turned away, catching sight of Conner’s very wet returning hunting patrol. Laika’s stinging nose was quickly forgotten as she squinted into the wind, looking at a sodden form being carried on Earthquake’s and Tangram’s shoulders. “Who’s that?”
“I’m not falling for that!” Strelka huffed through a mouthful of feathers, but Piedpiper’s gasp caused her to whirl around anyway.
“No…” Piedpiper’s whine was carried away by the wind, “please, no…”
“Pipes…” Muffin hovered near her as Piedpiper trembled, frozen in place.
“Piper!” Axis stumbled away from the body that was now lying in the wet clay, light fur taking up a red tint from the ground. Tears streamed down Axis’ already wet face as he choked on his own sobs. “He…he’s…he…” He finally made it to the group of four and pressed his face into Piedpiper’s side.
“Strelka, fetch Rooster. Laika, go get Cerberus.” Muffin murmured to the kittens, now taking the lead in comforting the mourning.
Feathers and moss forgotten, Strelka streaked off to the medic’s cavern and Laika dashed towards Marlon and Nyx’s caves. She had no clue where the large tom would be but as she slipped and landed in a muddy puddle, strong jaws lifted her out by her scruff and set her on slightly drier ground. “What are you bumbling about for?” Cerberus’ low voice flowed into her ears and she dreaded what she’d have to say next.
“At the center of camp,” Laika stammered, “It’s Ward…” At the name of one of his kits, Cerberus took off to the mentioned location. Laika struggled to keep up as her small legs were no match for the largest tom in Earthfall.
When the two arrived at the growing circle of cats, Conner was explaining what had happened to the best of his ability. “I had just rounded everybody up to shelter under an overhang until the worst of the rain passed, but he yelled something about a cat drowning and dove after them. Everybody else was accounted for, and when the rain let up…he was the only cat along the shore that we found.”
Laika snuck a glance up to Cerberus’ face. It was void of emotion, red and gold eyes staring blankly at the Ward, jaw clenched in a small grimace. Instead of approaching the body, he walked to Piedpiper and Axis who immediately leaned into his sturdy figure. Strelka arrived with Rooster in tow, who howled and buried his face into Ward’s cold fur. Aether had the mindset to bring Dwindle to the front as well and she stood next to Cerberus, bewildered at the suddenness of the day. Aether sat next to her apprentice, tail resting lightly on his back, and found Cerberus’ gaze. “I shall prepare his body for a vigil tonight. I have a good amount of rosemary that I think Ward would enjoy.”
Cerberus nodded firmly once then returned to his stoic state. Nyx was now weaving in between cats, offering comfort and sympathy with soft words. Marlon avoided the crowd and went directly to Cerberus and his unofficial-official gang of children around him. No words were needed between the two longtime friends, just a small dip of the head and Marlon began to clear out the gathered cats to give Aether room to work and the family space.
“Thank you for your help today,” Laika practically jumped out of her fur at Muffin’s whisper. She didn’t notice the chocolate molly appearing at her side.
“I’ll go back for what we dropped earlier,” Laika wasn’t sure what else to say. She sure didn’t feel like she helped at all today. A cat was dead and all she could do was fall into mud.
“That won’t be necessary,” Muffin assured her, “I’m sure Piedpiper will want to stay with the others for a few nights.” Her blue eyes grew a bit confused as she realized the kitten was now covered in mud and clay. “I’m sure by the time you get cleaned up, it’ll be time to say our goodbyes to Ward.”
Laika nodded and gestured for Strelka to join her on the walk back to the nursery. “What happened to you?” Strelka wrinkled her nose at Laika’s dirty fur.
Laika rolled her eyes. “Just help me clean some up before mother smells it.” The two sisters got a majority of mud chunks removed by the time Belka met them, coming from the elder’s cave. As Strelka finished cleaning her sister’s back, Laika filled Belka in on Ward’s fate.
“He drowned?” Belka’s shout summoned the queens from inside and Laika found herself tired of explaining the day’s events. By this time, the sun was dancing along the horizon and the nursery group carefully made their way around mud puddles to the vigil. Laika didn’t know what to expect as Lacey deemed them too young to attend Rachmaninoff’s a few moons ago.
Aether had centered Ward’s body atop a raised rock near a quiet edge of camp. His fur was mostly dry, the red tint from the clay washed away, and a calming scent of rosemary surrounded him. His eyes were shut with his head resting on his front paws. If Laika didn’t know any better, he could have just been fast asleep. It was a very strange sight. This was the first dead body Laika had seen, and it didn’t seem real. She almost wanted to march right up to him, prod him with a claw, and demand he rejoin his family as he was making them very sad just laying there dead.
Once the majority of Earthfall was gathered, Marlon cleared his throat and stepped up beside Ward. “Let it be known,” Marlon addressed the entire group, “that Ward lost his life not because of lack of skill but an abundance of bravery and heart. His only thought was not his own safety but that perhaps he could help another cat. And that should be admired.” Marlon took a step back, allowing whoever next space to speak.
Piedpiper replaced the agent. “There was never a bad day with Ward,” Her voice warbled but grew stronger as she continued, “He made sure to leave everybody happy and smiling. I’m proud to be able to call him my little brother.”
Dwindle was next, “I can’t believe that today is the last day I’ll be with Ward in this life, but I know he will be patient until we are able to join him in the next.”
Axis’ legs trembled as he replaced Dwindle. He directly addressed Ward, “Every night without fail, you rolled off of your nest and into mine, crushing me. I know I should be able to sleep easier now, but I…” his voice cracked, “...I don’t think I’m ever going to get a good night’s sleep again. And all I know is I’m going to miss you always and forever, brother.” Piedpiper and Dwindle helped Axis off to the side as he sank down, claws clutching at the clay like a lifeline, silent sobs racking his body.
Rooster was the last of Ward’s ragtag littermates. He was six moons younger than both Ward and Axis, and it was clear he had idolized all of his older siblings. “I…I don’t know what to say.” Rooster looked especially small tonight, “When I was questioning becoming a trapper like the rest of you guys,” he nodded unsteadily towards his siblings, “Ward was the first one to suggest joining Aether as a medic. He was the first one to notice my interest in plants and herbs, and later he told me that he was the one that told Aether that I would be a good medic. And I know I’m not a medic yet, but I promise I’ll be the best one to make you proud, Ward.”
Cerberus was the final cat to speak before the vigil officially began. “I never expected or really wanted to be a father. I assumed that I would travel from place to place alone for the rest of my life. But somehow a kitten grew attached to my rough exterior,” He glared at Piedpiper, “and I am now the father of five wonderful cats. I also never understood what unconditional love truly meant until this moment. I would give everything and more to trade places with you, Ward, and I’m sorry your father wasn’t with you in your final moments.”
Laika and her littermates were shuttled back up to the nursery; as kittens, they weren’t required to join in the nightly vigil. Laika took one look at her lone nest near the entrance and abandoned it to curl inbetween Strelka and Belka. At least for tonight, she could do her best to push the fears of a rockslide to the back of her mind. If the past few moons have taught her anything, she never knew when it would be one of her siblings up on that rock, looking fast asleep but unnaturally stiff and cold, forever left behind.

  • ↳ During the hunt, Ram received a minor sprain as he pushed himself a little too hard sprinting after a particularly fast shrew - much to his pride, he did manage to bring it down before limping back towards his patrol, trying his best to hide his hurt paw. He wasn't very good at it, however, and the bishops saw to him right away. He will need +1 moon of rest, or +1 elder leaf.
• Harpstring's patrol catches +1 rabbit, +1 stoat, +1 small fish, and +1 big fish.
  • ↳ During the hunt, Harpstring received a minor infection from a rabbit scratch that will need +1 moon of rest and +1 horsetail.
• Juncoflight's patrol catches +2 mice and +2 hares.
• Smogrumble's patrol catches +1 vole and +1 bird.
• Laika's patrol catches +1 mouse, +2 stoats, and +1 bird.
  • ↳ It was shaping up to be a pretty successful hunt, the Greenleaf warmth spreading positivity, and perhaps a bit of competition, among the hunting cats. It was Caramelpetal who suggested a friendly competition, wanting to split the patrol in two to see which group could bring back more prey. With the spark of optimism and competition in the air, Laika saw the eyes looking at her and shrugged - why not, what could it hurt?
    It was nearing the end of the competition when a sharp crack alerted the cats in the area to a serious problem. Reedwhisker had been scaling up the lower branches of a tree, stealthily tailing a bird who seemed to be the none the wiser to his presence. But he got a little too overzealous, finding a branch that didn't quite support his weight. The branch fell, the others helpless as they rushed to Reedwhisker's side, but the tom was already gone... Caramelpetal and Laika both felt the heavy weight of guilt, wondering if they could have saved him if they had just carried on the patrol like normal...

  • ↳ Casperpaw and Scarletpaw got a little too into their battle practice - but with their words instead of sheathed claws. They were both forced to sit out of the rest of training after throwing around one too many insults at each other, and were unsuccessful in learning fighting.

⭐ When two of her siblings end up in the medicine den, Northernpaw develops weird symptoms that only she can see. She's either faking it or becoming a hypochondriac. Bacup is worried about his children, but patrols take priority.
⭐ Astralkits fight over who will be mentored by Rainstorm. It's none of them, but Aristaeus overhears their conversation and starts wondering who will mentor his kits. He wants only the best and that's himself and Rainstorm. Perhaps it's time to put an end to their years-old rivalry, bury his honour and try to make friends with the tom that has the most in common with him, even though so far they've done nothing but fight. Aris approaches Rain and asks whether he'd be up to train his child if he's available. Rainstorm accepts, surprised, but pleased. They get into a lenghty conversation about training techniques.
⭐ Blackbird politely asks Grinch some advice on how Icysun's delicate skin can deal better with different temperatures, but the only answer he gets is "Bah, humbug!"
⭐ Briston has finally found someone who shares his love for adventure and wild tales. He's excited to share Thornblaze's stories with his future children.

““They aren’t working,” Mosspaw whispered, her entire body practically exuding her anxiety. “We’re giving Wildheart his herbs but he’s not getting any better.” Cloudpool shook his head, glancing over to where the black and white tom slept, encouraging his apprentice further back in the den where there was less risk of waking Wildheart. “His wound is infected,” Cloudpool murmured with quiet sorrow, “Wildheart was very weak when they brought him here and he must’ve developed an infection during the journey.” Mosspaw paced in small circles, her mind racing. “The marigold and oak leaves should’ve helped him though.” “They should have,” Cloudpool agreed, his yellow eyes dark and serious, “I’m not sure why they didn’t.” The admission was soft, pained. He hated that he didn’t seem to be able to help Wildheart but sometimes, he’d learned, herbs did not seem to help. He frowned, both of them falling quiet as Larkfeather came in to check on her kit. “How is he?” Larkfeather asked quietly, curling around her son, careful not to jostle him. Cloudpool sighed, shaking his head. “He’s not responding to the herbs. I’m going to the moonpool tonight to talk to Starclan.” Larkfeather was quiet for a moment, her eyes dark with pain as she gazed over Wildheart as he stirred, hazel eyes blinking open sleepily. “Mom? What’s going on?” At the quiet explanation from Mosspaw, Wildheart was silent for a moment before shaking his head. “Don’t bother.” He finally responded, “I don’t want you to try anymore.” Cloudpool blinked, confused, and Larkfeather picked up where Wildheart had stopped, “I’m taking him to the twolegs.” Mosspaw gasped, her astonishment rendering the gray molly speechless while Cloudpool stared at them for a moment, carefully choosing his words. “Wildheart isn’t well enough to be moved.” “When did you get this idea?” Harestar asked, having slipped in to have Cloudpool check his own wounds. Mosspaw jumped, somewhat startled, but neither of the other three seemed surprised. “My mother’s stories. Larkfeather’s told us about her life as a kittypet ever since we were tiny kits.” Wildheart explained, reminding them of the calico mollie’s kittypet heritage. “She wants to go back to them. And I want to go with her. I don’t want to live my life constantly worrying about the next time I’ll get hurt or if I’m going to be able to manage to hunt enough prey to feed my clanmates. I’ve been thinking about this for moons but it wasn’t until this fox bite that I decided that it’s time to leave.” Larkfeather continued with a small sigh, resigned as she lapped at her son’s forehead lovingly, “I’ve thought about my twolegs ever since I left them.” She admitted to Harestar and the medicine cats. “I know you may not understand, but I loved my twolegs. I still do.” Mosspaw tilted her head, confused. “You left them to join us though. You want to go back?” Larkfeather hummed, seemingly lost in thought, in her memories. “They’re my family. They loved and cared for me. I left for my kits, so they wouldn’t be taken from me. You see, in twoleg homes, they take kits away.” Horror flashed in Mosspaw’s green eyes and even in Harestar’s, the clanborn cats unable to fathom such cruelty. “It’s not so bad really, the twolegs give our kits to the other twolegs and if we’re lucky, they’re close enough to still see. It sounds worse than it is, but at the time, the idea was unthinkable.” Larkfeather’s eyes darkened with grief as she continued, “I thought they’d be safer here but they aren’t. I’m grateful to have been able to raise them and watch them grow, but it’s so dangerous here. Robinfeather and Pepperspark are healthy and happy, but look at Wildheart. And Maplekit.” The mollie’s voice cracked as she thought of the tiny orange and white kit who’d died in the same badger attack that had killed Ebonywing. Both Cloudpool and Harestar’s eyes darkened as well. That attack had cost Morningstar a life, and had left Dappleleaf, Hawkfeather, and Stormfeather with their scars. “I would never have lost Maplekit if I had not come here. I can’t lose another kit. He’d still be alive if I’d stayed with my twolegs.” As Cloudpool opened his jaws to assure her that he and Mosspaw would do their best to help him, Larkfeather interrupted, “Please don’t try to stop me or change my mind. I only ask that you help get Wildheart ready to travel. I’ve seen the twolegs heal horrific injuries. Robinfeather and Pepperspark have decided to stay here, but Wildheart has decided to come with me to live with my twolegs. They had a cabin just across the lake. We’ll be safe there and they’ll help my son. I don’t know if he’ll stay after he’s healed but I will not return.” Larkfeather mewed sadly. “I’m grateful to Caveclan for taking me in and I’ll never forget Morningstar for taking us in or any of my clanmates, but with everything that’s happened, I’ve realized where I belong. I do hope that we’ll be able to visit but I understand if we can’t. Our decision will not be well received by the clan." Harestar was quiet, deep in thought but the leader finally nodded slowly, resigned. “If this is what you two really want we won’t stand in your way. I won’t pretend to understand your decision, but I will advise you to think this through carefully. You are not wrong to think the clan will not approve. Some may even be outright hostile. Joining the clan with kittypet roots is far different from leaving to become a kittypet. It’s unthinkable for most of the clan and some may think of this as a betrayal.” Harestar warned, his voice serious. Larkfeather nodded, just as serious. “I understand and I’ve thought everything through. This is what I want.” Harestar nodded quietly as all eyes switched to Wildheart. “I want to go with her. It won’t be easy to leave, but I’ll be okay. It’ll be really hard leaving my sisters and friends, but hopefully, with time, we’ll be able to visit. Mom’s brought me to visit some of the kittypets across the lake and I've already begun making friends.” Wildheart said, his eyes brightening with excitement at the thought of his new future. Harestar nodded quietly and Cloudpool cleared his throat, drawing their attention. “Wildheart may not be any worse than when he was brought to my den, but he’s no better either. I do not recommend that he be moved. Moving him would risk reopening his wounds or worse.” Wildheart frowned, his eyes troubled but Mosspaw tilted her head thoughtfully. “Perhaps there’s some way we could have Wildheart carried? Near the clearing where the apprentices train, I’ve noticed there are some sections of a rotting old log that may be enough to carry him. It’s near our best comfrey patches.” She suggested. Cloudpool looked hesitant, reluctant to allow Wildheart to risk the journey in his condition. Larkfeather looked hopeful at Mosspaw’s idea while Wildheart made a face at the idea of being carried to the twoleg dens. “We could wrap his wounds with extra cobwebs as an extra precaution as well,” Mosspaw added. The medicine cat flicked his tail tip before sighing. Once an idea got into Larkfeather’s mind, it was almost impossible to dissuade her from it and her kits had inherited her mulishness. If they couldn’t be persuaded to stay in Caveclan, Cloudpool would have to try to do his best to prevent possible complications with Wildheart’s bite wound. “Alright, well if you’re going to leave Caveclan, may I ask that you stay at least this moon? Mosspaw’s idea was good, but the journey to the twoleg dens would take a hard toll on Wildheart. At least with a moon, you’ll be able to heal and grow stronger, as well as have the chance to say goodbye.” Larkfeather and Wildheart exchanged a look and the calico molly gave him a nod, allowing the black and white tom to decide. “That’s too long, and it’ll be too hard,” Wildheart decided, mewing, “We’ll stay for a week. That’s enough time for me to get stronger and I can spend the last few days with Robinfeather and Pepperspark.” Cloudpool looked as if he wanted to argue but instead, nodded. “A week then,” Harestar mewed. “I’ll make the announcement to the clan in a few days.” “Thank you Harestar.” Larkfeather mewed softly. The solid gray leader watched the pair for a moment as they settled down, talking in quiet, eager voices about their new futures. They deserved peace during the last few days before the clan discovered they would be leaving. It would be hard to lose them but they deserved to be happy, even if that meant they were not Caveclan members.
