Your paws feel heavy…hey wait, what are you doing?! Put me down this instant!” The cat-worm’s cries vanished into silence as he was carried away by a pale tabby cat, never to be seen again. Rumor has it however, that same evening, a red tom was seen talking to the queen and looking very embarrassed.

“It happened!” cries Wormwood-glade, confusing and worrying everyone around them. At the concerned looks, they only shakes his head. “I knew this day would come…”

As the worried questions bombard them, they continue to sway and shake their head, truly grieving before looking up.

“My best friend was turned into a worm! Oh, stars, I knew it would happen one day! It should have been me instead!” They shout at the sky, falling to the ground and curling around… a tiny golden worm. Their groupmates share glances, half of them trying to figure out if it’s real and the other half trying very hard not to laugh. Star-ignition finally breaks, and the Chriin around him can’t stifle their giggles afterwards. Wormwood-glade turns their head to glare at the group through tears.

“You’re laughing? Sunny-duckling was turned into a worm and you’re laughing?!”

In the blink of an eye, Wormwood-glade is no longer curled around nothing, but a smaller Chrii who is laughing so hard he can hardly breathe. The village is filled with the howling laughter of the whole group as Wormwood-glade whips his head back around in shock, before glaring. “What in the stars—?!”

Sunny-duckling gasps out a response between hiccuping laughs. “You didn’t know I can shapeshift?!”
