oeaki - clipping masks

hi all!
praying this is the proper forum.. anyhow, i’ve been working in oekaki a lot recently, but i kinda realized i have 0 idea how to apply a clipping mask. I occasionally use them in editable oekaki when they show up- but when they aren’t there, i’m not sure how to make the button appear, if that makes sense?
i initially wondered if it was locked away somewhere, but after some clicking around, i was still pretty lost. ;w;
does anyone know how to make/‘open’ clipping masks?

Sure thing! It's simple, but different from some other programs.

It's this wonky arrow button on the Layers panel, fourth from the left side:


Whatever layer you have selected when you click it will then be clipped to the layer below:

oh yeah, i’m aware of how they work!! only thing is, they don’t often show up for me? :’0
sometimes I go to color a base, but then there’s no clipping mask option appears.

Oh, that's odd. From what you're describing it sounds like you might be experiencing a bug. Can you take a screenshot of what it looks like when that happens?

You're probably on the older version of the software! It can be changed in your settings

maybe it’s a bug, but for now, i’ll be banking on the fact it’s jus an older version of chickenpaint/oekaki! thank you all for helping me out with this. :”3

Oh my gosh, I had completely forgotten there were older versions of the program. Looks like clipping masks only show up on Chickenpaint v2.0, which can be changed on this page.

I had a feeling that was it! I was having a similar issue for a little while!

well thanks y’all! ^^ i was able to get the new version of chicken paint :33c and now i’ve got clipping masks!!
