SANDBLOSSOM.lyrics
sunclan medicine cat ☆ tom
status; med cat thingz ☆ mentions; cardinalcall, quietstorm, honeybriar ☆ tags; quietstorm, cardinalcall, honeybriar
It's early - earlier than the sun, Sandblossom thinks as he walks through the quiet undergrowth of the forest. He'd left while Cardinalcall was still sleeping, figuring it was the best time to get some of the herbs they were running low on and to give his apprentice some space. He runs through a mental list, questioning the validity of the poppy seeds they still had in stock. He pauses in place, just briefly, and his face scrunches together. Are we short on bindweed? he thinks, trying to rack his brain. He knows about the cobwebs and mint - his apprentice had pointed those out to him the night before - but he can't remember some of the other things they'd need. Maybe it's borage he's thinking of? But do the kits need...
Ah, StarClan, it's too early for this.
Eventually, finally, the sun rises. Sandblossom has, thankfully, gotten enough cobwebs and a few leaves of mint - hopefully enough to tide the clan over for a few more days before he or Cardinalcall can go out to get more. He'd had to sacrifice picking up a few mint leaves for the cobwebs, but it's worth it - he sends a silent prayer to StarClan that he doesn't have to use the mint any time soon.
He dips his head to his sibling, who he thinks has been standing guard over camp overnight (he was a bit distracted when he left earlier). Quietstorm seems to understand the silent hello, and echoes it with their own soft good morning.
As Sandblossom grows closer to the medicine cat den, his ears prick. Honeybriar and Cardinalcall hover outside of the den, talking. He spots the fresh-kill between the two and he raises an eyebrow. Schooling his expression to make it look like he hadn't noticed anything aside from the two chatting - which is normal, in and of itself - he squeezes around his apprentice and the warrior to make it into the den.
Carefully, he sets down the cobwebs and mint leaves in their respective places. Once he's sure that the two items are safe where they are, he checks the poppyseeds - yeah, they could probably stand to get some more - he pokes his head back out the den.
"Good morning Cardinalcall, Honeybriar," he says with an easy-going smile, dipping his head in acknowledgement to his apprentice and the warrior. "Have you come to help again?" he asks Honeybriar, tone betraying nothing but curiosity. The warrior has a bright mind - he truly doesn't mind her coming by sometimes to help, even if it's likely just a front to spend time with Cardinalcall.

QUIETSTORM.i cannot vanish, you will not scare me
sunclan warrior ☆ nonbinary
status; watching ☆ mentions; sandblossom ☆ tags; sandblossom
It's like clockwork - as the sun rises above the horizon, the clan begins to stir awake.
Quietstorm had seen their brother slip out in the late hours of the night, in the sparse time before sunrise. He'd been too distracted to say hello, but they hadn't minded. There was a silent concern that was etched into their mind for a moment after seeing Sandblossom so early in the morning, of course, but it faded relatively quickly. If the tom wanted to talk about his issues or worries, he would. (and maybe he just wanted to get an early head-start - who was Quiestorm to judge?)
Quietstorm enjoy the silent solitude of the night guard, occasionally offering to do it if no other cat wants to. Don't get them wrong: groups are nice to be in, and they can fit in just about anywhere - everyone loves someone who listens - but sometimes the night and the company of any other cat with them on the night guard suits them just fine.
After some time, Sandblossom finally comes back. He dips his head in a silent hello, and they respond with a soft, "Good morning," and that's that.
Their ear flicks, and they turn to glance back at the camp. It's a lot busier, now - fuller with life. They relax, just slightly, with a small smile on their face. They turn back to face the outside of camp, unsure just yet if they were allowed to leave their position. It was alright, though - some cat would come along to replace Quietstorm, and then they could get food and see if there was anything else Silentstar needed from them. If not, they would probably take a short nap - provided nothing would come up, of course.

BIRDPAW.you've got to run far from all you've ever known
sunclan apprentice ☆ she-cat
status; thinking ☆ mentions; rosedusk, silentstar ☆ tags; rosedusk
The dim light filtering into the apprentices' den is the only thing Birdpaw has been able to focus her tired eyes on. Normally, she was an early-riser and would already be outside of the den, having her breakfast and then Rosedusk would find her and then the two of them would go off and do training or a patrol or whatever they'd be doing that day.
Today was... different. Birdpaw isn't sure if it's the lingering breaths of a bad dream - they hesitate to even call it a nightmare, it was just unpleasant - but all energy has been sapped from the apprentice. It'll come back with time, she knows, but it's a bit unfortunate to be so lethargic so early in the morning. But Rosedusk isn't bad, Birdpaw figures - she's nice (enough), and didn't complain when she became Birdpaw's mentor, despite the fact that Birdpaw was incredibly cagey and didn't like talking about her time before she'd been found in SunClan territory. (but Birdpaw had heard things from other warriors, about a time when Rosedusk wasn't with the clan. so maybe that's why she didn't complain too much.)
When Birdpaw blinks their eyes open once more, she sees that the sun has gotten brighter - did they fall back asleep? There's a rustling near the entrance and Birdpaw angles her ears toward the noise, only to relax just slightly as they hear Rosedusk's voice. A faint smile crosses her face and she slowly rises to her paws, stretching. she shakes her pelt out, getting rid of the moss clumps that may have gotten stuck to her fur during her sleep, and pads to the entrance.
"Morning Rosedusk," Birdpaw chirps, stopping in front of her mentor. "What do you have in mind today?" she asks, not sure if she means training or some morning patrol Silentstar may select them to go on. She slips around her mentor and heads to the fresh-kill pile, knowing Rosedusk would follow.

A cat mewing in her direction caused the mottled she-cat to look up and to her surprise it was Adderstrike. She took note that he slightly cocked his head as he dipped his head to her in respect before he began to ask questions. Silentstar listened to him ask if there was anything he could do to help. She was grateful for him to help pitch in but her green eyes narrowed once he mentioned Silverpaw's training. "Good morning Adderstrike." the molly said with a calm tone although her intrusive thoughts wanted to scold him.
In her mind, she thought he couldn't think that she could handle leading the clan on top of training an apprentice. "I appreciate the offer Adderstrike." Silentstar simply said before turning her gaze out to scan the camp. "If you don't mind leading a hunting patrol I would appreciate it. Take your apprentice along with Quietstorm and Iceheart. Surely Iceheart will bring along Dewpaw as well so there will be plenty of you for the patrol." Silentstar mewed once more. Hmm.. who would she send out for the border patrol? Her sharp eyes scanned the camp once more and set her sights on a certain cat. Morningfrost

Morningfrost began to stir slightly as the sun began to rise. Her fluffy tail wrapped around her paws, covering her nose as her pelt softly rose and fell. It was time to wake up and begin another beautiful day tending to the clan. The she-cat loved spending time helping out with the queens and their kits but on top of that she always tried to pay Pebblestream a visit and help her with anything she needed. Soon enough Morningfrost stirred once more and tried to wake herself up.
Rising in her nest made of mostly dried grass, moss and feathers, the molly groomed her pelt and picked out any moss sticking to her pelt. Once she finished grooming her marbled pelt, Morningfrost made her way out of the den and headed straight for the elder's den to help tend to Pebblestream. Light afoot the molly arrived to the elder's den and peaked her head inside, "Good morning Pebblestream!" Morningfrost chirped happily as she then entered the den. "Are you hungry? I can get you a bird perhaps? Or a mouse?" the molly began rambling on as she took a few more steps towards the younger she-cat.

A familiar voice reached Tigerheart's ears along with a bump in his shoulder. It was Ivythroat as always, a close friend of his since they were kits. He was only a moon older than her but they have been friends for what seemed like a lifetime. Tigerheart's pelt felt hot as he listened to his friend playfully mock him and clawed a piece of bracken from his striped pelt. "I.. uh.. planned on getting something to eat." the tom said as he looked Ivythroat up and down.
A grin etched across his maw as well to match Ivythroat's. "Sounds like fun. Count me in." Tigerheart purred as he then bumped into Ivythroat's shoulder playfully. He may or may not of bumped her a little too hard due to his tall muscular posture. The tom began to bound over to the fresh-kill pile before he shot Ivythroat a devious look as if hinting her to follow. As he approached the fresh-kill pile he glanced back at his dear friend. "Hmm.. what should it be today?" he began questioning, "Pheasant or mouse?" he added as he waited for her opinion.Kestrelpaw

Before the small molly began to dig into the small rabbit her brother had caught for her, ears perked as she heard Leopardpaw greet her along with Ivythroat throwing her a good morning as well. "Good morning Leopardpaw! I'm doing quiet alright." Kestrelpaw lied through her grin as she made eye contact with the older tom. She too also noticed Cliffpaw making his way out of the den and gave the two cats a glance before trotting off towards the camp entrance. Her ears pinned back slightly as she kept watching the striped apprentice, "Is he always like that?" she thought to herself. Leopardpaw's question also snapped Kestrelpaw back to the present.
"I'm not too sure what Hawkthroat has planned today." the small tabby replied as she turned her attention to her clan mate. Kestrelpaw couldn't help but look the tom up and down before turning her gaze to her fresh-kill awkwardly. He was a handsome cat in her eyes, his pretty blue eyes and his cream spotted was attractive in her eyes. "Um.. would you like to share this rabbit with me before our mentors take us out for trainiing?" Kestrelpaw asked trying to keep her cool that she just did NOT look Leopardpaw up and down.

━━━━━━ 𝑪𝑨𝑹𝑫𝑰𝑵𝑨𝑳𝑪𝑨𝑳𝑳 | medicine cat apprentice of sunclan | tom |
TAGS | honeybriar, mentions sandblossom
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
xxxEvery word that left the she-cats mouth was held close - too close. As she spoke in her soft, newleaf breeze way, Cardinalcall felt himself being swept away by the gust. As he soared, his ears slowly found their way to flatten against his head. If he were to be honest with himself - really honest - it would mean betraying the very vow he'd taken to protect his clan and to serve them as their guardian against harm and pestilence. For some reason that he didn't know, but nonetheless loathed, Starclan deemed it cardinal sin for a healer to fall in love. He didn't understand it, didn't agree with it. Cardinalcall would take care of his mate just as well as he took care of his clan. Loving her would not mean the death of others.
xxxBut loving her was also the death of what Starclan believed he was meant to be.
xxxThe orange tom's whiskers gave a twitch despite the dread that sullied his chest and soured his stomach. A day with Honeybriar by his side would be a sunny one - and be damned the clouds that hung over his head. That sunlight seemed forbidden, but he;d still let it soak through his fur. He clenched his jaw, catching the slight frown that crossed the she-cat's face as she seemed to lapse into dismal thoughts of her own. With a start, the fiery feline leaned closer so that their noses were nearly touching as he sought to fish her out of the same darkness that he drowned in now.
xxx"A hare sounds splendid. I don't know what I'd do if you didn't look out for me. Turn to skin and bones, surely - crow food before I've gotten the chance to live," he told her as he shuffled his paw in slight, brushing the tips of their toes together in a bold, daring gesture - even though it was nothing grand at all.
xxxThe tom straightened swiftly as another figure shifted into the den - Sandblossom had returned from their early morning crusade for herbs. The tom often left in the early hours, long before the sun crept back up to claim its place in the horizon. His eyes widened as his mind began to race in tune with the skipping gallops of his heart. Did the tom know that he was helpless in front of this she-cat? Could he tell that he struggled to uphold his duty to his clan?
xxxDoes he know I'm not meant for this life?
xxx"Good morning, Sandblossom," he greeted his mentor and fellow medicine cat. Technically, he'd well since completed his training, but he would remain the apprentice until Sandblossom retired or found himself running through Silverpelt.
xxxHe turned back to the she-cat before him, falling silent for a second as he stared at her gorgeous pelt, before he flinched back into reality.
xxxGreat Starclan, get it together.
xxx"I would love your help. The poppy seeds are on their way to Starclan. Perhaps you can help gather some today. Does that sound like something you'd like to help me with? Or we could, uhh- oh, I'm sure there's something we could do, hmm? There's always work to be done," Cardinalcall reaffirmed as Sandvlossom asked the she-cat if she'd come to provide her assistance shortly after she offered her helping paw. Clearing his throat, he leaned down and collected the hare she'd brought gently in his jaws. He gave a fleeting glance to Sandblossom, then inclined his head in gesture for the she-cat to come follow him outside of the den, so they could share their fresh-kill together.
xxxCardinalcall brushed past Honeybriar, grazing their flanks together as they went. He shut his eyes as her scent fluttered off of her pelt, winding around him until the atmosphere consisted of nothing but Her. Cardinalcall stumbled a pace as he caught his foot over a sizable rock. Grumbling under his breath, the tom padded off not too far from where Shadestep and Wiltedleaf were sharing their own rabbit in a rather tight ball of fluff. The tom cocked his head as he dropped the rabbit onto the ground, staring the pair down. They seemed to be lost in their own little world with each other. He averted his gaze, watching as Honeybriar approached him.
xxxCardinalcall was jealous of them. He wanted what Shadestep and Wiltedleaf (apparently, if his eyes weren't deceiving him) had. It wasn't fair. It wasn't right.
xxxHe looked up at the she-cat and offered her a tepid grin. "Shall we?" he invited quietly.

xxxAs her apprentice emerged from the murky depths of wherever one goes when they fall asleep, Rosedusk could tell that the shadows of her subconscious still clung to her mind. Usually, the she-cat was up before the birds could think of making a peep: a fond note she'd taken of the she-cat when they'd begun to get to know one another as student and teacher. There were but a paw-full of times that Rosedusk had been the one to pry the apprentice from sleep to begin their day. Birdpaw had the cicardian rhythm of her namesake. The tortoiseshell turned her head as Birdpaw numbly bumbled her way out of the den. Rosedusk lingered where she stood, squaring her shoulders as her chest puffed with the deep breath she drew. As she cast it out in a long, heavy sigh, the she-cat seemed to deflate into a forward motion. She prowled after Birdpaw, eyeing the way the apprentice moved.
xxxShe'd woken up with Birdpaw's fate sealed that morning. They would practice her hunting techniques together without the distraction of other cats or pesky apprentices that wanted to have a little fun while they were out. Rosedusk, while the whole mentor thing was new, sincerely did her best to balance training and living for not only Birdpaw's sake, but her own. She didn't want to turn Birdpaw into a - what was the word the other cat she'd lived with in the two-leg den had used to describe her desire to be of use... machine? She didn't want to turn Birdpaw into a machine. The tortoiseshell decided there would be a change of plans today.
xxxPadding up to catch up with Birdpaw so they could stride side-by-side to select some prey, the she-cat set her gaze on the barrier of the camp and the wilderness beyond it. Her tail shot skyward and she gave its tip a little shake.
xxx"Today, we will complete the patrols that Silentstar asks of us, but afterward and between, we are going to have a different kind of lesson than we've done so far. I'll save the details for when we go out together. I think you'll enjoy what I have in mind. The first part of your training today begins right here, at the fresh kill pile."
xxxRosedusk bent over and selected a plump bluejay from the thinning selection and turned to place it at her apprentice's paws. Licking her lips, she turned and grabbed a mouse that looked as if it had devoured an entire cornfield before it met its end at one of her clanmate's claws. She gestured with her tail for Birdpaw to follow her so that they could eat their prey together, as they most usually did. Rosedusk wanted to consider the she-cat a friend, but she wasn't sure that Birdpaw would think the same. There towered a wall between them - and whether Rosedusk had put some of those stones there herself, she had no clue. Some cats did not take kindly to her - especially after she had returned to the clan with a lime green collar around her neck. She hadn't been able to catch any prey for the bell that was attached to it, but she'd asked Cardinalcall to help her get it off. He nearly choked her to death as he'd pried it free and the sight had been incredibly comical, but eventually, the bell had fallen onto the medicine cat den's floor.
xxxShe kept the bell in her nest. Rosedusk couldn't bring herself to get rid of it.
xxx"We must take care of ourselves," Rosedusk told her apprentice before she took a monstrous bite out of her breakfast. After she chewed, she swallowed and went on. "Don't forget to take pause and make sure that you have what you need. Be it sleep, food, water - you are just as important and needed as your clanmates. So," she gestured to the bluejay. "Eat, Birdpaw. After we finish, we should see what Silentstar has for us today."

• Pebblestream •
elder | bio | tags: Morningfrost | mentions: -- Pebblestream stirred at the sound of the clan awakening. She barely pulled her eyes open, a little part of her mind hoping that her vision would be restored. Unfortunately, no such luck. On any other day, she would be upset about her unending blindness, but today she wouldn't let it get her down. She was going to make sure that it was a good day. Sitting up, she stretched the best she could, although her back legs didn't move much.
She hadn't been up for long when Pebblestream caught the scent of an approaching cat. She recognized the cat to be Morningfrost, and purred in greeting. “Good morning!” she replied to the warrior, equally cheerful. Morningfrost was one of Pebblestream's favorite cats, she was always happy to hear her. Even before her accident, she enjoyed seeing the older molly interacting with others. Now, she could barely remember what she looked like, but she'd never forget her kindness. Pebblestream became suddenly aware of the gentle rumble in her belly and nodded a little. “I am hungry... would you have time to grab me something? I don't mind what it is, anything would be okay,” she mewed, her ears twitching slightly. She always felt bad asking anything of her clanmates, but sometimes it could be so difficult to navigate life. Getting up in the morning was especially hard, as she struggled to move around worse than other times.• Silverpaw •
apprentice | bio | tags: Silentstar | mentions: -- Keeping his eyes shut, Silverpaw grumbled slightly. He loved training, but sometimes didn't want to actually get up. It didn't take long before he finally pulled himself to his paws, unable to sleep any longer. Before leaving the apprentices den, he groomed his pelt. He hated looking unkempt. He picked out some pieces of moss before sauntering out of the den and over to the fresh-kill pile. Picking out a small vole, Silverpaw settled down to eat.
Licking his maw, he scanned the camp for his mentor. His green gaze found her mottled pelt and he strolled over to her, giving her a friendly look. He waited for the others around to finish speaking before adding his own thoughts. “Good morning, Silentstar, do you have any plans for us today?” he asked, tilting his head to the side. While he had been looking forward to a day of training, he knew that having the leader as his mentor meant she may be too busy. He was hoping she would take him out, but wouldn't be upset if she couldn't. He would understand. His paws shifted slightly on the ground while he waited for her answer.

He grimaced heard the tail end of Adderstrikes part question part offer of patroling with his siblings. He waited about a pace away, waiting for Silentstar to finish talking, before stepping forward. Unable to help himself, he made a caustic comment to Adderstrike. " Patrolling with your siblings again, Warrior Adderstrike?" It wasn't much, be his tone conveyed much more. Turning his gaze to Silentstar, he bowed his head in silent greeting. "Good morning, Leader Silentstar. I was thinking of taking a patrol out towards one of our borders this morning. ☇ 𝐏𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐋
━━━━━━━━━━━━
( Rank: Warrior ) xx( Location: Outside the nursery ) xx( Mentions: xx )xx ( tagged: Flickerlight, Finchkit & Willowkit )
xxxxx A deep purr rumbled in Prancetails chest, his body elongated far enough to knead the empty nest next to him light with his forepaws. He knew it was Flickerlights, the white she-cat was usually the first awake - her scent already stale and the warmth of her nest gone. He opened his pale green eyes, squinting at the bleak rays of sunlight flitting through the bracken overhang of the warriors den. He gave one last stretch, before rolling up from his side and sitting back on his haunches. Moss and a few feathers stuck out of his fur, craning his neck to pluck them from his shoulders. While he didn't mind sleeping in a bit longer than everyone else, his paws pricked with need to get out and do something.
xxxxxWhen he deemed his fur satisfactory enough, the tall tom-cat got to all four of his paws, sleepiness still making his body sway. Gathering up last nights nest and packing it back to where it belonged - while tidying up what he messed up of Flickerlights nest as well. He turned tail and exited the warm den, surveying the clearing with newfound energy. He caught a few cats eyes, and nodded briefly to each one. A sudden tail resting on his pelt made him flip around questioningly and lock eyes with Flickerlight. The she-cat with standing placid, her tail curled neatly over her paws. He was going to speak up but she beat him to it, "Good morning Prancetail, " she rasped, and he had to guess that she hadn't spoke much to anyone this morning yet. "Thank you for cleaning up my nest, you didn't have to do that." her eyes glinted with amusement. If she had been here for a while, then she probably peeked in at the remaining sleeping warriors. "Good morning Flickerlight, it was only so as I was the one that scattered it." He met her warm gaze with a smile, flicking his tail over her shoulder. "I'll see you around." He gave the senior warrior a respectful nod, before trotting more towards the clearing and the meek fresh-kill pile.
xxxxx His clanmates stirred in the clearing, grouping up with one another. He bent his head and gave a disdainful sniff at the nearest mouse he saw, a small little thing that probably had just left its own mothers nest. Hooking it in his claws his ears pricked at the squeaking voices near the nursery entrance. Two little figures flying out of the entrance, their kitten fur smoothed down sleekly. He bent down, his eyes watching them chitter like a family of sparrows before taking a bite into his cold mouse. Everyone in the clan knew he had a soft spot for kits, and he was yet to have some of his own - he could only live vicariously through small interactions he had with them. "Kits!" he called softly, but loud enough for their little ears to quiver at his call.
xxxxxHe gave another swift bite to his mouse before finishing it off, and quickly burying the bones under the shaded tree he had been under. Before he knew it, his paws were under him and he was briskly walking towards the clearing where Finchkit and Willowkit were. He slowed down once he neared them, "Behaving your mother and father are you both?" he inquired teasingly, poking Willowkit softly in the side with the tip of his tail. Out of all the kits, he often wondered if he would get his second apprentice from either litter. He hoped it was Willowkit, the small she-cat seemed very eager to learn and had a very bright personality. Warmth danced in the depths of his eyes as he got into a sloppy hunters crouch, his tail kinked over his back happily - "And what games are you playing today!" He inquired on, excitement fizzing in his paws as if he was back to being a kit himself.

Willowkit
Kit
3 Moons
Status: Eating with Cardinalcall
Mentions; The other kits, Prancetail, Finchkit

The frail she-kit sat and pondered while glancing around the camp. "I wouldn't mind playing some chase..." She trailed off when she noticed a familiar tom cat approaching them. Prancetail! Willowkit excitedly jumped up onto all fours as he asked if the two were behaving their mother. "Of course we are, Prancetail." She said as convincingly as she could, trying her best to straighten her posture like a noble warrior would, but to little success. His tail gently poked her in the side and she let out a quiet chittering of a purr. Willowkit really admired Pracetail, and even hoped he could one day be her own mentor. If only the day would come sooner. she thought to herself. At the question of what game they'd be playing, Willowkit piped up quickly before her sister Finchkit. "Well, we were just deciding." She told him seriously. "We only have so many options without the other kits coming to join us yet." She then turned and looked up at him, eyes gleaming with hope and excitement, "Would you teach us how to do a proper hunter's crouch?"┏━━━━━━༻❁༺━━━━━━┓
Leopardpaw
Apprentice

Status: Outside the apprentice den
Mentions; Cliffpaw
Tags; Cliffpaw, Kestrelpaw┗━━━━━━༻❁༺━━━━━━┛
Trying to wipe the encounter with Cliffpaw out of his mind, he smiled gleefully at Kestrelpaw. Although the young she-cat said she was alright, something in her gaze told him otherwise. Not wanting to prod the issue out of her, he decided to leave it be and continue their conversation as normal. He tried to hold back a small chuckle when he noticed her look him up and down, although he wasn't able to hide a little smirk. Not being cocky, but just out of slight amusement. "I'm not sure what's planned for me either, to be honest. Just waiting to hear from Lilydapple." He slightly sighed. So far, his apprenticeship with the tom had been a bit inconsistent; never knowing when the tom would be ready to take him out to train or to go on border patrols. I guess you could say they just hadn't had a more specific schedule. But, Leopardpaw tried his best to not let it get to him. He knew some cats thought it a bit odd that his mentor was such a young warrior. Kestrelpaw once again drew him back from his trailing thoughts at the sound of her voice. "Of course, I'd love to share with you." He let out a quick purr and gave the she-cat a quick friendly lick on her ear before crouching down in front of the rabbit. Kestrelpaw was a pretty she-cat, but he honestly didn't know her extremely well. I wouldn't mind getting to know her more. He thought to himself before taking a bite of their shared prey. The delicious forest scents and flavors flooded his mouth and he purred once again, not really noticing how hungry he was. He took a few more quick bites, making sure to save most of it for Kestrelpaw. He sat up, running his tongue over his muzzle and nodded towards the prey; encouraging Kestrelpaw to eat the rest. "That was tasty, thank you." He told her gratefully. Leopardpaw appeared to be a bit of a flirt, but he didn't mean it in any disrespectful way at all. He was truly just a very friendly tom. He liked to show his clanmates they were appreciated and he cared for them.┏━━━━━━༻❁༺━━━━━━┓
Honeybriar
Warrior
20 Moons
Status: Outside medicine cat den
Mentions; Cardinalcall, Sandblossom
Tags; Cardinalcall┗━━━━━━༻❁༺━━━━━━┛
A loud purr erupted from Honeybriar's throat as Cardinalcall leaned closer to her. Relief flooded through her that the orange tom did indeed want to spend some time with her. But, embarrassment soon took over once again when she realized how loud her purr truly was. Not wanting to move away from him, she simply tried to quiet her purr and replied in a happy joking matter, "Oh you silly tom, you'd survive just fine without me!" She felt his paw brush against hers and longed to bury her muzzle deep in his fur and stay there forever. Honeybriar! How could you be thinking this way! What a disgrace I am.. She thought to herself sternly. The she-cat slightly jumped at the sound of footsteps approaching, and her eyes got slightly wider when she noticed Sandblossom brush past them and into then den. Honeybriar straightened and lifted her paw to give it a few swift licks. “Good morning Sandblossom,” Honeybriar greeted gently as the tom reappeared from inside the den. “I’d love to he-” She was cut off by Cardinalcall listing off some possible things the two could do to help the medicine cat. Before she could respond, Cardinalcall was heading away with their fresh-kill. With a polite nod to Sandblossom, Honeybriar followed after the tom. A small smile spread across her face as the two fell in line side by side with their flanks brushing. I wish I could tell him how I really felt. She thought to herself with a slight sigh. She noticed that Cardinalcall stumbled over a rock once he got a bit in front of her, so she was quick to step over it and not stumble herself. As he settled down somewhat near Shadestep and Wiltedleaf, Honeybriar watched him begin to stare at the two cats curled close together. Could he possibly feel some sort of way for Wiltedleaf? She thought anxiously to herself. She tried eagerly to push the thought away as she approached him. When he gave her a tepid grin, her worries began to slightly grow. Is he just doing this out of pity for me? Oh starclan I hope not. She froze for a second. I’m sorry, Starclan! I know I shouldn’t feel this way for him, but I can’t help it! She settled down beside him and took a bite out of the rabbit. Trying her best to eat gracefully and not make a fool of herself.

The mottled she-cat spotted her apprentice approaching along with Hawkthroat trailing behind him. She gave Silverpaw a nod to the silvery tom in greetings as well, "Let me get patrols going and then we may discuss today's training." Silentstar mewed in a calmer tone than what she gave to Adderstrike. Her green gaze was soft as she spoke with her apprentice as she tried to be nicer to Silverpaw compared to the warriors of Sunclan. As the moons passed, the young tom grew on her and was glad that he was patient with her as well. Mentoring and leading the clan was no easy task but she did everything in her power to give him the training Silverpaw needed.
Hawkthroat's voice made Silentstar's ears perk before she turned her gaze towards the tom and her gaze was now a little colder than the soft look she gave to her apprentice. A slight smirk etched across her maw to his caustic comment towards Adderstrike but then cleaned her profile of any sort of emotion. "Good morning Hawkthroat." the she-cat began as she also returned Hawkthroat a slight nod in greetings. "I think that would be a grand idea however I have already asked Adderstrike to take Quietstorm on the hunting patrol for now. Perhaps Flickerlight, Honeybriar or Morningfrost?" Silentstar added and gave Hawkthroat a few suggestions to replace Quietstorm's spot that he wanted to take.Morningfrost

The marbled molly took notice that Pebblestream looked a little down after she had asked the older she-cat for something to eat. "I'll be quick!" Morningfrost purred before making her way out of the elder's den. It pained her heart to see such a young warrior already retired just from a badger attack. She wondered how Frostcreek took it when he found out about his younger sister's injuries and how he's holding up now. Morningfrost pushed away the thought as she approached the fresh-kill pile to see Tigerheart and Ivythroat there.
The molly quickly picked up a mouse and trotted back towards the elder's den. Once she reentered the den, the molly placed the fresh-kill on Pebblestream's left paw for her to be able to feel where her meal was. "Do you have anything planned for today?" Morningfrost asked as she sat down in front of the younger she-cat with her fluffy tail wrapped around her paws. Perhaps the two may end up spending the day together and who knows, maybe she could help her stretch out her back legs and get some movement instead of just hanging around the elder's den all day. Anything Pebblestream needed, Morningfrost was here to help her.Tigerheart

"Hmm.. what should it be today?" he began questioning, "Pheasant or mouse?" he added as he waited for her opinion.
Kestrelpaw

Kestrelpaw waited for Leopardpaw to finish his share before she'd annoy with her energetic questions. She was mostly curious about how in Starclan is he being trained by a cat that's only twenty moons old. Was Silentstar going crazy? Why would she appoint a freshly appointed warrior an apprentice already? Kestrelpaw knew that eventually every warrior would end up training their own apprentice but Lilydapple would've only been seventeen moons when he was appointed Leopardpaw.
"Maybe Silentstar is just as scary as she looks. Maybe she was too cruel about it or perhaps she thought Lilydapple could handle it?" Kestrelpaw thought as a million thoughts flooded her head. It was then that Leopardpaw's mew snapped her out of her thoughts as she saw that he was now licking his maw and motioned for her to eat. The lithe molly crouched down and began eating her share of the rabbit. Flavors of the forest and scents of the open fields touched her tongue as she chewed the stringy meat from the rabbit. Soon all that was left was the rabbit's pelt and bones in a little pile, she would discard the remains when Hawkthroat came to get her.
As she finished cleaning her own muzzle she turned to see where in the world Hawkthroat might be anyways and she caught the tom walking over towards Silentstar along with a few others surrounding the Sunclan leader. "What are your thoughts on Lilydapple?" the she-cat mewed without really thinking about what she just said to her clan mate while still gazing in Hawkthroat's direction. She was sure other warriors and the apprentices were curious of how Lilydapple's training was paying off as it is. The lithe tabby then turned her attention back to Leopardpaw with big yellow eyes waiting patiently for his reply.

SANDBLOSSOM.lyrics
sunclan medicine cat ☆ tom
status; med cat thingz ☆ mentions; cardinalcall,
honeybriar ☆ tags; cardinalcall, honeybriar
Sandblossom watches with half an eye as his apprentice and Honeybriar interact. Honestly - Cardinalcall is only his apprentice in name; if Sandblossom wanted to leave his position or something happened to him, Cardinalcall would be fine. It's weird to think about, especially at his age, but...
Something like pride always bubbles in his chest whenever he thinks about Cardinalcall's future. StarClan forbid, if anything were to happen to Sandblossom (like he should fall ill like his father and Quiestorm had, once two lifetimes ago), he thinks that his apprentice would be alright on his own. ... at least, in his line of work.
He's a little amused at how Cardinalcall cuts Honeybriar off - likely by mistake, or nerves if he's not mistaken - but he plays along and smiles. ”Yes,” he agrees with an amused trill, “there is always something to be done.” Cardinalcall darts away with the fresh-kill that had been between the two younger cats and Honeybriar follows quickly, after a polite yet silent goodbye. Sandblossom dips his head back in a mirroring farewell, the twinkle in his eyes not fading until he knows the two are gone.
Here's the thing: Sandblossom isn't stupid. He can't afford to be, especially not in the line of work he does. He has to notice if someone's hiding a cough, or an injury, or something that whoever the bumbling idiot is doesn't want him to notice so they can get back out there or whatever it is warriors and their fool-hardy apprentices do. It's his job, to make sure that his clan-members are safe and in one piece - even if that means benching them. (at least, he thinks, his sibling isn't mouse-brained enough to fight him. there's a few other members of the clan he can say that about as well.)
Sandblossom knows there's something between Cardinalcall and Honeybriar. He can tell that the two think he doesn't notice it - and maybe he's one of the only cats in the clan who has noticed. Genuinely, he hopes that that's the case; StarClan forbid that Silentstar or someone who would be angry finds out about it...
Well. Let's just say Sandblossom doesn't mind turning a blind eye and ignoring his apprentice's obvious crush on the warrior if it means Cardinalcall will be happy. Sandblossom just hopes that this crush doesn't cause Cardinalcall to either become split with his duties or send him spiraling into a depth that he can't reach his apprentice from - he knows his apprentice has been acting a little off recently, and he'd just chalked it up to the seasons, but...
He frowns, turning and pacing back further into the den. He wonders if he should pull Cardinalcall to the side and just flat out ask him if everything's okay before things get worse, no judgement promised and he wouldn't get mad, but right now he just has to hope that Cardinalcall would come to him first before the issue got too out of hand.
(and maybe there's the quiet fear that he's asking too much, and that he won't find anything out until it hits the bottom of the ocean.)

BIRDPAW.you've got to run far from all you've ever known
sunclan apprentice ☆ she-cat
status; thinking ☆ mentions; rosedusk ☆ tags; rosedusk
The side-by-side presence of Rosedusk comforts Birdpaw, even if she refuses to admit it. She doesn't know how to explain it, and would never even attempt to if someone asked. Maybe it's the lingering claws of the weird dream she'd had that's making her feel like this, but...
Birdpaw had never truly been alone, until That Day. She'd always been with either her mother or sister - usually always with her sister. The first time she recalls them ever truly, genuinely being separated was when. ... well. Maybe Birdpaw had just latched onto Rosedusk because she was the first cat to be genuinely, truly nice to her without any prior obligation. (it's a quiet question, wondering if Rosedusk understands just how much that meant - and still means - to Birdpaw, but there's never been time nor place or even reason to ask.)
They blink away the thought as Rosedusk begins speaking, talking about the things she has planned for the day, and Birdpaw finds themself relaxing. "I'm excited to hear it," she says, and genuinely means it. She does look confused, however, when her mentor makes the comment that their first part of training starts at the fresh-kill pile. They want to think it's because if they don't eat, then they won't have enough energy to get through the day and will crash and burn later, especially when it gets to training.
She blinks in surprise at the bluejay dropped at their feet, glancing between the prey and her mentor, before an amused light flickered to life in their eyes. A bird for Birdpaw. How ironic. She picks up the bluejay carefully, then follows close behind Rosedusk.
Birdpaw's mind flitters momentarily to what Rosedusk had mentioned - a different kind of lesson? They've covered some of the basic hunting and fighting things; Birdpaw took a while to cooperate with the way the clan taught fighting as she had learned something different being a loner. Their mother had never wanted to teach them, but after their father...
Birdpaw wonders if Rosedusk had left it intentionally vague for a reason. Maybe that was why - to get their mind off whatever may have been plaguing them. The thought warms Birdpaw more than it probably should.
She watches Rosedusk as she speaks, dropping her bluejay carefully at her paws. Ah, that's probably what Rosedusk had meant earlier then - taking care of oneself would be part of training. Maybe she wasn't too off the mark earlier. She takes a small bite from the bird, only to realize just how hungry she was, and proceeds to take a larger bite before even finishing the first one. The end of Rosedusk's speech made the apprentice choke, taken aback by the kind words, and she coughed up some of the feathers that had gotten stuck in her mouth. "Sorry," she croaks, letting the small tears welling in the corner of her eyes be from choking on her food. Birdpaw swallows back the flighty feeling she gets - that this will all end soon, that Rosedusk will learn and leave her and the clan will kick Birdpaw out and and and - and ignores how warm and safe those words made them feel. "I... choked," they say lamely, unable to meet Rosedusk's eye. They clear their throat, silent as a mouse.
Then, after a moment when the embarrassment has mostly washed away, breaks the silence.
"Thank you, Rosedusk."
It's quiet, and Birdpaw can't quite meet her mentor's eyes, and she takes another bite of the bird. She chews and swallows - carefully, this time - and then asks, "Do I get any hints on the 'different kind of lesson'?" It's a shoddy attempt at changing the subject, to pretend that nothing had just happened, and Birdpaw prays that Rosedusk takes it. They take another larger bite of the bird, attention half on Rosedusk and half on the bluejay, sending a silent prayer to the Clan in the Stars that most of her clanmates believe in, that she quite yet doesn't, that Rosedusk takes the bait.

Lilydapple-20 moons-SunClan warrior-Tags/Mentions: Cats around freshkill pile
(I started late, so i'll pretend he was on a onecat patrol for prey)
He returned with his catch, and quickly dropped three squirrels and two mice on the pile. He greeted some clanmates around him, and sat to eat. Lilydapple expected no return for his greet. Sighing, he took a bite of squirrel, chewing the rather pasty meat. He shuddered, and took another after swallowing. He didn't understand how it was gross, but decided to ignore it.
