Extra:
Hunter didn't want to go into the pit today. He was too tired, aching in his body and mind and soul. At this point, sleeping wouldn't have helped him at all. It would have only delayed the inevitable. His return.
Hunter, to his credit, wasn't stupid. But that was occasionally debatable.
He knew, not deep down or slightly, but in bright red neon signs in front of his face that it was the single worst idea he's ever had to go into the pit. If the feelings of dread were anything to go by, he was sure if whatever was down there didn't do him in, his own mind would.
A thought surfaced in his mind and was pulled down as soon as it came. The caves seemed to breathe around him, beating it's heart right next to his and shaking him. He was too tired to be afraid anymore.
Even before this all started his mind didn't blur into itself the way it did now, the way his consciousness seemed to be... Having a conversation. Whispering, secretive to his subconscious.
It was comparable to a close friend, that pushed him closer and closer to the deepest echoes of the dirt walls. He wasn't sure how long he could push back against it, especially when it was so, so convincing.
Something about the pit changed. It shifted from a cold and haunting environment to something Hunter found familiar in the way things you have never experienced before are. Not exactly welcoming, but not entirely alien.
Come home, it whispered. And Hunter considered. But to his credit, he wasn't stupid.
Home was something he forgot, a long while ago. Where all he could remember was the faint memories of metal and oil, whirring and this inherent want, no, need to do something, to wake up something. Like it was his entire purpose. It contrasted sharply to the earthy and dark feelings brought forth by the pit, the way it grabbed at him and tried to push his mind underwater. Underground. But it beckoned him nonetheless.
He was a little dumb though. Fasting his glowing purple blade to his hip, he dragged himself to the familiar, like a dying moth to a candle flame.
