Not very pup related, but a fun fact-, the photoshop file name for my staff pet is called "RAIRE.psd" 😂😂😂

I also have some non-lore-ish but a fun fact about mine. The edits I used were actually my own personal reject from last year's staff litter. It was originally designed for that palette, but I ended up scrapping the idea entirely and ending up with my actual pup for that year, Andromeda. Coming into this year, I had zero ideas with the palette so I thought maybe I'd dust off those unused lines and see how it worked with these colors, tried a few alternative designs, and settled on Strawberry Lemonade's rather simple design with little hearts. Now the edits weren't wasted, so that was nice!

I know everyone was able to figure out my pet pretty easily based on my hints (and my art style that I didn't even realize I had) but I am so happy that you like them! Not only inspired by my favorite song but also named after another MB20 song, Kody was the result of many hours sketching ideas and trying to come up with something dramatic and unique only to be thrown out the window when I came back to the basics, deciding that I wanted my first staff pet to be a visual story of, well, me.

Kody's adolescent stage reflects most of my youth. Always feeling like I needed to hide away to avoid "being a burden" and being near constantly in tears for never understanding why I couldn't just have fun or make friends or understand simple instructions. Life (and my own mind) was too loud to handle on a good day, and I never knew why.

Jump forward to now, the adult stage where I now know I am ADHD and Autistic, learning to love my differences and accept that I simply face unique challenges to life and that it's okay. Music has always been an escape for me, and I have been allowing myself to lean further into that as I learn to navigate life as an invisibly disabled person. Just as I leaned into music to help inspire this adopt for you all. I wanted it to reflect my journey and inspire others who may face similar challenges. Sometimes you just gotta tune out the world and lean into yourself for support, and that is 100% valid <3

Story-wise, Kody’s probably my fave pet, right behind Burrito Bunny’s 2018 GH litter cat, Espoir. I love Kody’s design, too!!!

I want to talk about my favourite staff pets this year too!


My favourite is probably The Omen. I like a little horror in my pretty from time to time, and I adore the rips in the wings and how rundown yet polished the overall design looks. The use of the colour palette is amazing, with the green-yellow gradient and purple accents it feels like every colour has been used equally without looking too bright or colourful. Nailed the vibe.


My number 2, I think, is actually Gracie! I read that the design was more of a last resort due to time restraints, but the colours on the back look so alive. Yeah it looks less special than most staff dogs, but it still manages to stand out to me. I'd love to see more of this kind of colour style in the future.


Surprising nobody, FleshCanvas' design is one of my favourites once more. I adore both snakes and plants, and this is a nice blend of the two. Plus we basically got two pets in one!


Purely visually, Kody is not necessarily my favourite, but the concept is amazingly well executed. Literally the second I saw mine grown up I was like "yep thats an autistic adult" and was not surprised at all to see the confirmation in the forum. Getting the message that clear with just two images is not an easy task, and it was an absolute success.

Honorable mentions because I can never pick just a few favourites go to Raire, Koikee, EmberWolf, Doglike, Codex and Concept. I guess that makes this a top10 which was not intentional but is funny. Big love to everyone though, all the litter was awesome to watch grow.

The palette gave me the idea. It's very much a nostalgia design for me. I tried to make them androgynous so you can call them anything and give them your own personality.

I was super happy to see the complimentary dog with the tamagotchi which had the same vibe so I did draw art of them together already. They look cool together.

That's super cool! I love seeing art of staff dogs interacting :') (this is a reminder I still need to get on that... maybe it's a sign)
