That's not the UR Cat, just a normal sitting cat. UR Cat has its "litter mates" here.
The easiest difference is the nose colour; UR Cat has a pink nose.

Hoarding itself also doesn't affect rarity - it would only if you have an extremely large hoard and then your account goes inactive. But you'd literally have to own thousands of one pet to make a difference...

I wasn't talking about literal hoards as much as a lot of different people holding a single pet. This is makes sense only on the lower end of the list (I was checking the archive and all Low Mains+ are OMGSR).

i refuse to speak against the widening of the omgsr category. i've been on this site for 11 years and i've finally been able to squeak through into "owning an omgsr" territory on a technicality, which is the best way to qualify for anything.

At first I voted against this expansion because I thought so many rarity tiers might be a hassle (I voted for adding just one more tier), but now that it's happened I'm liking that it won. My one minor complaint (more a personal preference than a real complaint) is I think they added one tier too many. I think we could have done without extremely common because at that point if a pet is that common I don't think it matters that much. They could have just been spread between very common and OMG so common. Also the blues for extremely common and very common are really similar and the rarity bar is barely filled at that level. So it's harder to see the difference at a glance. Like I said though, minor thing. This was something I didn't even know I needed until the poll happened and I'm really happy with it!

The other thing is I do have one minor bit of confusion. I'm gonna try to explain and hopefully it's not too confusing because I'm bad at words sometimes. So hypothetically no pets are changing actual rarity (as in how many copies of it are on the site) due to adding more tiers. This is just revealing the differences in rarity some stuff that was previously lumped together had.

Before the update I had all my trade pets sorted in groups by rarity. Now I'm going through and resorting them and I would expect stuff to spread out in a predictable way based on how they were ranked before, but I'm seeing some weird jumps. Like for example, before the update Pet A was uncommon and Pet B was common. So Pet A is rarer than Pet B. After the update Pet A stayed uncommon but Pet B is now very uncommon. So Pet B is actually rarer than Pet A? If this is the case why was Pet B not listed as uncommon before? (I wish I'd kept track of some specific examples of this happening, but I've mostly already resorted my groups so idk what the pet's previous rarities were anymore.)

Did we get a regular rarity update (as in the pet count changing based on who's gone inactive) as well as adding the new rarity tiers? I'm assuming that's what happened, but I wasn't sure. Sorry if that was in the update post or if someone already asked about it and I missed it.

I noticed this too! I could be wrong, but I seem to remember seeing somewhere that they changed the time for an account to be considered “inactive”, so that’s probably the reason for the weird jumps. I don’t remember where I saw that, though. If someone can either confirm or correct me, feel free! :)

probably not, its always been excessively hard to get so i don't think this will change- but i did find it extremely interesting and quite funny the raven is the sole 2010 survivor which DID NOT meet the new OMGSR criteria, haha. meanwhile some 2011 and even a few beyond 2011 stores- did get the OMGSR title!
there is quite a few new OMGSRs im especially happy to see rarity jump, off the top of my head the "panda" rats (i believe they're called) and nick sunback PPS being a few.

edit; i have to say i really disagree w the people who keep suggesting to add new rare+ tiers. it's going to get a bit too confusing, especially for newer players, if they were to do this.. it would kind of be like adding an "official" list system to the site and probably drive people from trading completely. i also see people upset about the lower rarity changes too, saying we dont need them and maybe thats the case but i still think its nice to keep the extra rarities even if it wont matter for everybody. not everyone deals in high value trading though, i just appreciate the visual knowing how close something is to common/uncommon/rare etc more than anything in those lower tiers. i do not at all support adding any more tiers and i really hope they dont add or remove anymore. i fear it would make the trading issues worse, to be honest..

Spread the word to end the word, because discrimination based on perceived or actual IQ/"intelligence" is no better than discrimination based on race, gender, etc.

Completely agree with that. Said as much before it happened as well. Considering every post from people happy with this change is pretty much just going on about the new higher tiers, yes. Needless complication to add below uncommon. None of those people after this new system seem fussed with adding more low end categories. When I brought it up on the last thread, I didn't see anyone jump in and say no I really need to be able to fine grain sort the value of pets under Uncommon. This is just making less valuable pets more of a pain to trade for no real gain at all.

Can't agree with the loving the colors part though. I find that Uncommon green shade really unfortunate. Wish that was a less harsh shade going on.
