My snake Jupiter (a juvenile Eastern Ratsnake) is going into his first shed. Does anyone have any advice for how to make things more comfortable for him?

He just needs a moss hide and plenty of places and things to rub against that's it. Make sure his temps are right and the humidity and he shouldn't really need to be made comfortable, more than once I've been sat in my living room were my corn snake is knowing he is ready to shed and he has just shed without us noticing. The only time you have to worry is if he gets any stuck and then you need to check the temps and humidity and make changes.
But if you have done your research and everything is correct you dont need to worry.

I woke up this morning to find his shed completely off and in one long, beautiful piece!

I have isopods and springtails in there, but they mostly stay underground since it's hot and dry on the surface so theoretically they'd be safe
Is it ok, or would it I be better off in it's own space ?

Hi! I have some snakes of my own who are in bioactive tanks. With you stating that you "found" this spider I would assume that it is wild, due to this it wouldn't be a good idea to put this guy in there with your rosy boa. It is best to get the spider its own home for your snakes safety.

i’ll be getting my first ball python in two weeks, i’ve done my research the only thing i’m asking about is heating. i’d prefer not to use an under tank heater, i want to use over tank heating with a light. but at night id have to turn off the light so there would be no heat source right?? for those who use over tank heating and dislike red light, what’s the night time option for you? may be a dumb question

Ceramic heat emitters are quite popular for this! My hognose doesn’t need one so I don’t have personal experience, but I’ve heard good things about them.

Hello! I love snakes! When I was little, I had snakes growing up when I lived with my dad. My very own and very favorite snake was Salem, my Ball Python, otherwise known as the Royal Python. He was such a sweet boy. I would hold him all the time and he would curl around my fingers or roll up in a ball in my palm. He used to flick his tongue at my face and I always thought he was giving me kisses. I also had a snake named Coeur d'alene, Cory for short. She was technically both my dad's and mine. Salem was the only one that was mine. She was also a Ball Python. My dad also had a Burmese Python named Lizzy. I loved hanging out with her but I could only do so with supervision.

Fun fact: Lizzy is how I ended up with my first pet rat, Sweets. It started out with my dad buying Lizzy some "food." I offered to hold it on the way home, but I promised not to get attached. I decided to name it for the way home, but I promised not to get attached. When we got home I was adamant that my dad could absolutely not feed my new pet rat to his snake. So yeah, Sweets became one of my best friends. LOL!

We went hiking a lot so my dad taught me rhymes on how to tell the difference between the dangerous coral snakes, and the harmless kingsnakes. Even though we have neither here where I live. xD Still, it's a good rhyme to remember. It goes like this:
Red and black is a friend of Jack. Red and yellow can kill a fellow.

Another rhyme he taught me that is not relevant to snakes but is relevant to hiking is about poisonous ivy.
Leaflets three, leave it be. Berries white, take fright!

One last funny (for me, not for the poor lady) story: When I was three years old, I was carrying a ball python with me in the grocery store with my dad. A lady saw me, screamed and ran. I was concerned why she would run from a snake so I ran after her to tell her it wasn't scary. As an adult, I feel awful about it now. Phobias are no joke. I would never force my love of snakes on anyone and if someone is afraid I won't even talk about them to them. But kids don't really understand that stuff and in my very little kid head I was trying to help the poor lady.

Anyway, I can't have snakes now because I can't handle the feeding part. I am way to squeamish. I have two cats instead that are my whole world. If you think I talked too much about my past with snakes, don't ask me about my cats because I can't shut up about them. LOL!

About Me: You can probably already tell, but I adore cats! :'D I have two cats, Charlie and Ziggy. A good way to get me talking is to ask me about them, but be warned, I might not shut up. I also enjoy reading quite a bit. My favorite genre is cozy mysteries. I am autistic, so I don't always understand things, so please be patient with me. I always try to be kind and respectful, but if I ever upset you, please let me know so I can apologize. You can also find me over on Gryffs under the name of Sunlight Sonata.

i have a ball python. she's in a 4x2x2 PVC enclosure. it had lights installed in it with a switch, and an 80 watt heat panel installed separately. she's on a 12 hour day-night cycle the heat is constant with a heat panel and she can have the lights off. and they last foreverrrr. good luck with your new noodle!
i can let you know where my enclosure is from if needed c:
