I didn't wanna go this thread without making a mock-up, so:
If the star rarities could be a thing, maybe the unknown rarity bars could be like this?

I’m honestly starting to like the star mock-ups, but I still prefer the original rarity bars that we currently use.
Excited to see the new rarities, still have to learn how trading works tho XP

I made a mockup of the "star" rarity bar system using colors and graphics similar to the current rarity bars, plus a potential proposition for colors - though I'll admit I worked this up before seeing Fellefan's colors a few pages ago, and mine are fairly different & a little rough around the edges. More of a proof of concept / general visualization than anything, though at least with the star system if the colors are more similar it matters somewhat less. (There can also be an argument for similar colors suggesting that the different rarity categories are closer to each other than the old/current ones, and encouraging more trading up/down/between tiers.)

Also here is a rainbow ultra rare since I saw some people talking about how adding more colours could mean that the blue and purple could be confusing.

i'd be down for both these ideas. the first option is my favorite. my only change i'd make to the second one is i feel if there's going to be a proper rarity BAR, the large amount of stars aren't necessary & make it more visually complicated than it needs to be. i'd like it better if it was one star like what we currently have. the colors are awesome though!

tbh this is definitely my favourite mockup so far, simple, easy to understand, and not hard to look at. The way the stars are also handled like a bar means that it should work for people who have trouble with colours (in theory since i dont know anyone who does that i can ask) as they can just see how filled up the bar is. I also personally think that colour choice is very nice and not so different that it would throw me off, since my main identification of rarity is with colour.

Absolutely love this idea, and the idea of having just a question mark for unknown, I think the staff definitely need to take this design into consideration!!!!

I'm not personally a fan of having the different shapes, having seen a mock up of it I think it looks REALLY messy having different shapes imo

The only nitpicks that I have with this is the fact that the OMG Rarities aren’t there, and the fact that the rainbow color is already being used to label custom pets.

If the OMG names end up being discarded then I suggest the names "wow common" and "wow rare" (or "wow so common" and "wow so rare"). Those are clear in their meaning and have that "most common" and "most rare" effect.

The stars could look like this:
wow common 0
super common 0.5
very common 1
common 1.5
uncommon 2
very uncommon 2.5
super uncommon 3
rare 3.5
very rare 4
super rare 4.5
wow rare 5

I'm a bit late to the discussion, but I like the idea of more rarity categories! I missed the opportunity to vote, but I'd have voted for 4 new rarities. I would take a while to get used to the change, but ultimately I think its necessary. Although, i'm not a fan of 'extremely', it seems too long.

I'm not going to hunt the whole thread but here are all the words I remember:

- Very (already in use)
- Extremely (proposed - what most of the discussion is about changing)

- Super / Super Duper (also replacing very if using both)
- Very Very (I don't know if anyone said this but it's an option I suppose)
- Extra
- Incredibly
- Hyper
- Mega
- Ultra (concern raised about UR-unreleased and UR-ultra rare as well as UC-ultra common and UC-uncommon)

- Legendary (instead of OMG, partially for people who OMG potentially meaning "god" instead of "gosh" or "goodness" is a problem for)
- rename all tiers:

Other random ones I don't think I've seen anyone post:
- Luxury/Luxe/Grand (on the uncommon/rare side only maybe? personally I'd prefer the same for all)
- Wildly
- Distinctly
- Exceptional/Exceptionally
- Mighty
- Supremely

Personally I would prefer very and super (super sounds bigger to me personally), but super and super-duper would also be fun. Very very could work as its simple, although saying very very out loud doesn't sound quite right to me. I want omgsc and omgsr to be kept.

Regardless of what label is chosen, I think the labels should be simple (and preferably short-ish). As fun as more whimsical words are, they're not easy to understand for younger kids and non-native speakers.

I do think the rarity bar needs changing if more rarities are added. The star idea is my favourite so far.

This looks very good, but I use the CSDark board theme and there are two problems:
- the black names are very hard to read,
- the half-stars in "common" and "very common" rarities are also rather hard to see, even with other, lighter themes.
So I tried to edit it and the edited version looks like this:

I like both designs here, but I prefer the darker star bg. Although on cs business the white text with a black border is kinda hard to read.

I like this! I think the multiple question marks work well, and it would work perfectly with the star design.

To be completely honest I think these would look better without the bars behind them as the stars alone bring the point across but if there would be eleven different rarities I think having just a little colour in the first one would be better then nothing,

I also like this idea! I prefer this version out of the ones created. It looks like the current rarity bars, but its much easier to tell each rarity apart.
