We need your feedback on an update to the rarity system!

I wonder how difficult it would be to add in a few toggles for certain things, like rarity names or rarity bar notches? It seems like the kind of thing that would unruffle some feathers.

Add in options for dyslexia, colorblindness, etc and then it's even more inclusive. There'd have to be some discussion on what exactly could go into it, but maybe it doesn't have to be an either/or problem.

There is actually an option currently to display rarity names instead of bars!

Go to My Stuff > scroll down to individual group trading settings, next to that is "Change pet display settings" > click and select "Show pet rarities as text labels instead of image bars"!

- I saw some discussion about the use of the word "extremely" but if there was another suggestion to use instead I didn't see one that got support. If this is something people are concerned about, please propose what you'd prefer! Personally, I went with very > extremely because I think that it's pretty intuitive as to which one is worth "more." even if the word extremely is a bit clunky. I'm definitely open to hearing a better option!

In response to this, here are some possible name suggestions for the new rarities we're more than likely going to introduce (please note the list below is the same one suggested in the main post, but my name suggestions are written in red):

The issue with "Ultra" is that their acronyms would end up being too similar to pre-established acronyms, like UC (ultra common) and UR (ultra rare), however I do think "Ultra" suits the vibe of the site so I wanted to propose it! A way around the similar names is to instead use ULC and ULR.

"Extra" would be a great replacement for "extremely" as it's shorter yet relays the same sentiment, and bonus points for keeping the same first letter to avoid confusion in acronyms!

I second this, except for the "ultra" part. It works for all other rarities except for ultra rare. I think it is too similar to "UR" pets. I could totally see a lot of ninja trades happening with that change.. I don't know. Not to mention, it could become confusing once the acronym is used often. But that is the only issue I have with it. The only sucky thing is that I think that has the best ring to it.

I actually like super rare. It isn't as bulky as extremely, it isn't going to clash with any other existing acronyms and it is easy to remember c:

Can we PLEASE stop arguing about the OMG Rarities? It’s getting repetitive and annoying, and the names of all the current rarities will most likely stay the same anyways.

Also agree. It is on topic because it has to do with naming [discussion was encouraged IIRC], but respectfully, nothing needs to change just because a few people's faiths. If you don't like it, you are welcome to tune it out. There are other safe spaces on the internet for you, unlike many other demographics on CS. It's not fair to expect/want the entire site bend backwards for your own personal opinions.

Everyone is more than welcome to practice any religion they see fit, however it becomes an issue when it [or it's ideas/traditions/beliefs] being forced upon others. And a pet site like CS is most definitely not the place to do that either.

before the poll closes here are my final opinions on the matter;

- add the 4 new rarities
- keep all the current rarity names as they've always been
- change the new "extremely" to "super/mighty/extra" (I like either one)
- change the rarity pars into stars, using the colours I suggested (or similar) but make something more unique for OMGSR and add/replace with question marks for when rarity is still unknown
- encourage people to use U for uncommon instead of UC

last one is just a personal annoyance but gooosh can we please.. ;-;

coming in here to say the whimsical & unique whimsical names are my favourite. not as long or clunky, fewer to accidentally mix up because theyre too similar. i seen a few people concerned about how children might comprehend these and i think theyd be fine. children are very internet-savvy, if they didnt pick up on the general rarity esp with the bar theyd probably search up the meaning no problem lmao.
although i think id personally swap elusive & rare, because something elusive is something that is hard to find. imo rares are not that hard to find, especially in comparison to very rares, so id swap their places. but uhh my brain has not been working the best between headaches and sleep issues so maybe that doesnt even make any sense!

also a huge fan of pyromaniacal's stars. i think theyre easier to read than a bar, especially if we are adding more rarities. a sliding bar can get confusing when you dont have other tiers to compare it to or when there are too many tiers to make large, noticeable differences.

my only take on this is that there should be another omgsr category to differentiate between peas and the everyday URs and stuff like sunjewels and orange cerbs.
