Change OMG Name

no support, however I fundamentally disagree with anyone saying "no support" for the following reasons:

1. This has been in place for over a decade and was never brought up as a problem

Neither was the Deerskin Outfit. There are plenty of things that can be revisited once a new understanding enters the conversation. Letting a perceived issue slide because "it's been that way forever" is not productive or helpful.

2. The number of people complaining about it is small, so why should we cater to them?

This is another justification that may feel correct here but can be detrimental to communities that are more marginalized than Christians with this specific belief.

My disagreement comes from my own life as a PK and as someone who does not view "Oh My God" as an offensive phrase. I think that people in this thread should understand that this is a personal view based on their own lives and shouldn't make sweeping conclusions that may throw other, more harmful issues (on-site or off-site) under the rug.

I also agree with those saying they read it simply as "O M G" or "Oh My Gosh". I'm not sure if there is currently any ~CS Lore~ that refers to OMGSR as "Oh My God So Rare" instead of "OMG So Rare". If there is, it may be a good compromise to simply convert everything to "OMG So Rare" so users can impliment their own interpretations. I might just start calling it "Oh My Gabagool So Rare" :)

This is just purely nitpicking but I'd like it to be changed because all the labels on the rarity bars are in lowercase and then you've got some random uppercase acronyms. Change them or don't, but at least make them all lowercase so they match, hah

I don't view it as an offensive thing either ngl. Reason why I said no support is just mostly cuz my friends and I don't find it offensive, including my religious friends lol

My whole idea is that maybe there can be a toggle in setting that can change it to "Oh my gosh so rare" if someone feels uncomfortable, and if other people in the future feel uncomfortable, that way its a win win for everyone!

I disagree with comparing the marginalization of Native Americans- who were subject to genocide at the hands of the Christian religion to Christians being offended by "omg/ oh my goodness". The christian Native American boarding school searches are still happening in Canada and America. I also find policing langage of others because of your religion to be wrong.

The christian native american boarding school searches are still happening in Canada and America. I also find policing langage of others because of your religion to be wrong.

"makes very little sense as the official term is already OMGSR and is as is already open for interpretation, as we have established. If it's omgsr or omg so rare makes absolutely 0 differance and is just more unnecessary coding work and more unnecessary adjustment.

I think one of the reasons the suggestion got so far on the rarity thread was not just because it's "offensive" but because it sounds childish. Many people take trading and the economy seriously on this site, so having old internet slang interspersed in those discussions is incongruous. I'm not Christian and I don't support it being changed for religious reasons, I support the change because I want to be able to talk about pet rarity without sounding like a preteen from 2010

I mean this in the kindest way possible; this is a pet site, with silly pets and silly designs, you really shouldn't be taking it so seriously that calling something "omg so rare" ruins the experience for you. You also have to keep in mind that this site has been around since 2008, obviously some things are going to sound dated by virtue of its age. But that's part of the charm, if it bothers you, I'm sure there are other sites that would appeal to you more.

Not to sound rude but I do have to agree with Clock on this one. I can understand if it sounds childish to others but so? Best thing to do is either ignore it or like what Clock said, i'm sure there are other websites that would appeal more to their style.
