Same, I have the same three trade folders and I don't plan to change them folders either (aside from maybe renaming them).

Also how interesting that you also took about two years to fully start playing (tbf I straight up forgot about the game after joining XD thank God I remembered in 2014)

Debating rarity names is moot. Nick has already stated in the original post what these new names would be. This discussion was meant for which rarity system will be chosen. They never asked us to debate rarity names.

We were actually encouraged to discuss changing the rarity names...

EDIT; plus, from the way Lacuna phrases this, it doesn't sound like it was even Nick's suggestion, haha

If this is something people are concerned about, please propose what you'd prefer! Personally, I went with very > extremely because I think that it's pretty intuitive as to which one is worth "more." even if the word extremely is a bit clunky. I'm definitely open to hearing a better option!

This is solely for "Extremely." The OMGSR debates are unnecessary.

I agree with this. I’m not really sure why it even came up in the first place? I feel like it’s off topic

its honestly really starting to bother me that people continue to argue on it. they arent changing. let it go pls u_u

Yeah this really isn't what this discussion is for and it's getting off topic. I agree with it feeling repetitive and people are getting very heated about it. Maybe a different thread should be made to discuss whether or not to change the names, but this is really just for whether or not the rarities should change.

I support the Very Uncommon addition because:

1) The general Uncommon umbrella is the only one without a 'Very' category.
2) So many pets are likely to be stuck in the space between Uncommon and Rare, and currently can only be not-quite-so-accurately labeled as Uncommon or Rare.
3) It'd even out the distribution and reduce the need to redistribute the rarities manually as often.

HOWEVER! I also saw mentions of a gradient bar over the current colored bars (Disclaimer: don't know if this is actually going to be considered or not, I don't wanna spread misinfo). I'm personally against these bars, or would opt for settings to pick between the gradient, current bars, or text.

While the gradient seems visually appealing, I personally don't find it to be visually accessible. I'm dyslexic so I depend on the bars to visually distinguish between rarities. My TTS program will be reading every single thing on page unless I manually highlight specific words - which I do NOT want to do with every single pet - so it's not gonna help out much with reading out the rarities for me. A gradient would make it much more difficult for me than distinct color coding, especially if four new rarities end up being added. I'd be able to tell the difference between OMGsc and OMGsr, of course, but (for example) between Very Common/Common/Uncommon? The star placements for each of those would be too similar to each other for me to tell in a single glance. I have to deal with migraines from visual strain too, so I'd rather not deal with that too. I also remember seeing someone mention it being bad for those with lower vision, so there's that too.

I really like the 5 star suggestion and would be on board with switching to that instead of the named categories (ie have 0 star through 5 star pets, in half star increments). Feels much more intuitive.

As much as I want fairer trading and a more even system, I'd change my vote to no changes if it was between keeping OMGSR and adding new rarities. If you joined the site and chose to stay here despite how "offensive" it was, honestly that's kind of on you at that point.

I have a problem with offensive things continuing in the name of tradition. Your tradition is not more important than other people's deeply held convictions. If it doesn't hurt you, but it hurts the people hearing it, maybe you should consider their feelings more. This site is supposed to be inclusionary, not exclusionary. Telling people who like the site but don't like one thing to just leave is pretty brutal.

^^

Additionally. This is not only a Christian taboo, I know Jewish people who also believe this to be offensive. While these are both Abrahamic faiths, we are very different. I would argue there are other religions who feel the same way. That fact that we don't "own the word god" only adds to my point.
To me this isn't an issue to quit the site over. But it is an issue that would make me avoid trying to trade for or mention pets I would otherwise try to aim for. I'm considering getting back into trading and was just hoping that the site would change this.

On another note, around when will the poll be closed?

There are always ways that you can alter websites - I'm sure there are plenty of people who would be willing to code a script that changes OMGSR/etc into another word or remove any graphics that say it.

The point is, if the staff is even considering getting rid of OMGSR (I hope not!) I really hope they'll at least give us a poll about it first. At least give it a fighting chance.

I Agree. Scraping the bottom of the barrel for things to argue on. The topic should stay on the rarities changes themselves not the names. Im trying to skim to get an idea of why or why not people think adding more is a good idea, and this is making it difficult.

don't omg rarities like, officially stand for "oh my gosh" and not "oh my god" in the first place?
i think it's an unnecessary thing to change considering it doesn't even officially say god

How is it off topic? We're likely looking at adding 4 new rarities, so we're going to have to add new labels. Discussing labels is feedback for the rarity system, same as discussing removing labels all together, changing the visual star icons, etc.

Lacuna herself posted some names of discussion here, so it's both relevant and (if you want to be technical) a staff-approved discussion topic.

I think it's also good that people keep mentioning their support or not, even if it's just a quote saying they like it, disagree, etc. because that's how staff will know how many people like a certain idea or not. I've seen a lot of ideas I really like (and some I don't) and would never have considered they could or even would be changed until they were brought up by other users here.

Also, as far as I know, "OMGSC/OMGSR" has never officially been spelled out as god vs gosh vs goodness (original announcement post here). Unless it's been "official-ized" somewhere else, I think it's really up to the interpretation of the reader. Personally, I have interpreted it more as the general internet lingo "omg."
