We need your feedback on an update to the rarity system!

Quickly throwing this in before the current topic changes - I mean, we have OMG so common as a rarity, which I would argue is a little bit "childish." "Super duper common" is very similar to that imo.

CS is a site that anyone can join, but it's also pretty clear that it's geared towards children and teenagers. I'm super nostalgic for this site and I'm happy to be here as an adult, but I acknowledge that I'm not the target demographic here.

That's actually a really good point. I don't mind the label, but I would have a hard time differing it from OMG so common pets (if those would still be included).

don't know why my post was deleted but reposting my suggestion to use 'mega' or 'ultra' rather than 'super-duper'. 'super' is fine but to use 'super-duper' as well as this would be really confusing imo, so using a different superlative would fix this.

Oh gosh, I really dislike pallette #3, a- th colours look super close and b- there are dark tones at the beginning and and but also at the middle??

Not great at quoting esp multiple posts but I did and will stay with wanting to add more tiers. But, I would like to agree with using words like "Hyper" "Legendary" "slightly" "scarce" "abundant"

I sadly dont have the time to do it, if anyone could collect the different name suggestions in one post i would much appreciate it! I've read most of this thread, but i fear I've forgotten some suggestions.
Currently i favour keeping "very" and "extremely". It's easy to understand and when i think of when i was younger and much worse at English, those would have been easier to understand for me than "super-duper" or "hyper", or "scarce" and "elusive". I've also had no trouble understanding the OMG tiers and i honestly don't quite understand why some suggest the naming should change? If someone could refresh me that would be very kind!!

If the implementation of 4 tiers goes ahead, i think it would be smart to open 2 more discussion threads, one for labels and one for rarity bar designs if community input is wanted. That way, discussion and suggestions for one topic arent scattered across so many pages. currently it's sadly more effort than i have time to piece together the entire naming discussion, because there's loads of posts focussing on a different thing inbetween

oh you make a very good point! this site isn’t just used by native english—speakers! ‘very’ & ‘extremely’ convey what they need to for people who don’t know a lot of english words. ‘super’ on its own is okay, not my favorite, but it also conveys the value of anything in that group, likely between ‘very’ & ‘extremely’! a good point indeed.

i personally see no problem with the OMG tiers, they do their job as well & i honestly am not sure what we would replace them with.

seconding. separate discussion threads for labels and designs is a great idea!

i also do want to say i really don’t like “super-duper” as a tier option. no doubt it’ll get confusing if we’re already considering “super” for one. on the other hand i really like “ultra” as an option.

a question i had: would four new labels mean more high-value pets are demoted to lower rarities, or the other way around? nontags for example? i ask because mine was my first OMGSR achievement and i’d feel a little sad if she went down a tier. regardless, i still really like the direction we’re headed in.

Really like these stars, though I think the omg so rare would need a different colour (which might need to shift the other colours a bit as well). I prefer the stars with lighter backgrounds over those with dark that someone else proposed.




Just throwing this here as example for bars with dimension of the originals.

First has more muted colours in yellow and cyan as well as a lighter pink that I think distinguishes better (I prefer the first)







In regards to names, I’m partial to ”extremely” being used and all names as on the first page. However, even while being at first against ”super” and ”super duper”, I think that they are fitting in a more ”childlike” way and goes well with the ”OMG so”:s while still being clear on which is worth more than the other.

I just spent ages thinking of colour designs, had a look at this and saw this is basically what I've done haha, 100% agree with this design, I think it's brilliant ! Keeps the rainbow look in there, colours smoothly transition, it's clear what each one is and it takes full use of purples, blues, greens etc. Amazing. Perfection 🤌🏻
