Hmm, this one's a tough one, honestly, because there are individual pets of most species that I absolutely love and adore and likewise there are individual pets of most species that I don't like at all.

I don't really love pets based on just their species, it takes more than that!
I'll have to sit down at my computer and take a good look at the pet linearts after work tomorrow so I can participate in this poll. Very much interested in the results! :D

Edit: oh and it would be really interesting to see the entire final list, not just the top 10 ^.^

That's true, there's a lot more than species that goes into it!!!! I have noticed that I do tend to collect certain species more than others though so I went based on that. Although I could point to a favorite pet of mine from pretty much any species, even ones I don't collect as often. The artists do a great job coloring them.

I'm thinking I will post more than the top ten, although I'm hesitant to post the entire list because no species deserves to be regarded as the "worst" species. The artists worked hard on these linearts. And even the least popular species are loved by someone! For example, rats are usually regarded as a less-popular species, but I also know multiple users who are on this site solely to collect rats, so. So I might post like all of the list except the bottom 5 or bottom 10 or something like that. We'll see how it works out!

Guessing it's lion, as I voted lions as well!
Posting here to see results further along, curious to see the numbers.
I chose lions not just because I collect all of them, but because of the lineart and it's flexibility. It's simple, it's cute, and it's had so many noteworthy designs on the site!

As for releasing the full list of results, one option to avoid specifying which one was last could be to make categories based on number of votes?
Like first ten are listed and given how many votes they got. Then below that you could have "pets which received more than 50 votes", and list them in no particular order. Then a category like "pets which receives between 30-50 votes", and list them again. And close up with a category like "pets which received less than 30 votes" and list the rest?
Ofc values are all arbitrary to explain the idea, it would be up to you after seeing the results to decide how to separate the categories, if you go with this idea ^^

Now I wait and hope Bwolves and Chameleons get good positions ♡

A poll with the unusual species is a good idea, but yeah I also see what you mean about subjectivity! It would be tricky to decide which lineart edits qualify as their own species. Although maybe including lineart edits isn’t a bad thing either, I wonder whether floppy-ear or pointy-ear dogs are more popular.

You could choose the ones that have been used at least thrice, so the mice and frogs and maybe the hedgies would count. It would keep the list smaller and is easier to decide which ones would work for a poll! =)

There's definitely over three uses of the hedgies, as I hoard them all x3 If you count the rolled up ones as the same species despite being a dwarf hamster edit, there's been 7 total releases of them - Easter 2022, Valentines 2022, Christmas 2021, Halloween 2021, Valentines 2021, Easter 2020 and Fae Mischief 2019 c:

Oh yeah! That was a pretty awesome lineart too. I'll make sure to include that one.

We're at 128 responses currently. I'm thinking of trying for 200 responses and then ending it, what do you guys think?
200 users seems like a pretty good sample size.
