this a genuine question that i am afraid to ask in fear of it sounding disrespectful and ranty. it is not meant to be disrespectful nor a rant.

do none of our suggestions matter because the only people capable of saying yes & implementing change no longer have interest in this site? and i really truly mean it. are we wasting our time right now?

from the few responses i've seen it sounds like the staff float suggestions to the admins and get shot down, or they have trouble getting responses(??) (last sentence in lacuna's post)

I haven't been able to get those kinds of things to work on any of my devices in years. I can't even login to one site I used to use for years now because they switched the security login to that type. I would click the correct picture, but it would never go through no matter how many times I tried. So, if 2fa is added, I'd prefer some other form. If it was the kind listed above, I would never be able to get into the site. I don't know if there are other types (aside from fingerprint/facial recognition, with which I'm not comfortable at all). Or maybe 2fa could be optional and users could choose which option in their profiles?

I had offered an alternative for people who don't want a 2FA in case it is outside CS like on the phone or another site. I said a pin when ACCEPTING trades would be a way to give a little more security so people can't just take your account and start sending trades out immediately! I was one of the people that ended up dealing with a hacker trading me and then my trade getting reverse and I know 2FA isn't for everyone.

Here's the thread. It uses Neopet's pin as an example, but that's just to give the idea of how it could be!:

I personally feel like only really higher ups can actually do things with the site but prefer not to, so that they can get more money, or are really busy with real life things, etc and kinda leave those not so high up to do the work of regulating the site but not giving them any power to make choices or include them in any choices to change the site... but thats a total guess

Things seemed to of happened at least a little bit regarding trade reversals- so I don't wanna say people are wasting their time. it just seems to be really difficult to have anyone really change anything and basically members have to be really persistent.

I started playing in 2015. Something that bothers me is hoarding. I think it's ok in moderation, especially lower rarity pets, but hoarding rare pets just seems unfair to me, and it's not giving other users a chance to get pets they want. It just makes people give up on trying to get their dreamies. It's very sad tbh.

There’s only one or two others commonly used — universities seem to like the one that makes you open an app on your phone to verify it’s you. It only works if you have a phone. And another sends a text and makes you type the text in. Again, only works if you have a phone and that could be a problem for a lot of younger players who may not have a phone, or it would go to their parents phone and would be a bit of a hassle.

I don't know how easy it would be to implement, but in other games I play they give you the option to have a 2fa with phone in case you want it. People who want to use it can do it and people who don't/ have no other devices don't. So that might still be a good idea to make it optional

I still miss you every day. You weren't just a little bunny but true perfection. At least now I know that someone is taking care lovingly of all our rabbit friends that already had to leave.

I'm wondering about this too, while I know speculation gets us nowhere, it feels like a lot of the staff replies are within the breath of "I can't say this" or "I can't do that," so it definitely feels as though there are some things they don't at all have the power to implement, but I really am left wondering if they have any power at all beyond merely upholding the exact same system, without the ability to implement even the most mundane/simple requests. It's why my initial reply focused mostly on just "how staff responds when issuing warnings" because, hey, that feels like one small thing they might actually be able to do within their jurisdiction and I know nobody is trying to be deliberately mean or averse to helping fix problems that we're all seeing. Does staff (barring nick and tess) have any jurisdiction at all? It almost feels as though some are even apprehensive to write their own stances and ultimately avoid critiquing the way the site is run, which is probably why it feels we're being ignored. Would it put themselves at risk/at stake to speak out? This is ALL speculative and to be taken with a grain of salt, but it's not only disheartening in the grand scheme of things, but also worrisome if it is the case that they can't even so much as publicly criticize actions they disagree with within the administration.

Oh, that's a really good alternative. I used to play neopets in the very early days (like back when AOL was pretty much the only online option lol), but now I can't even remember what email I used for it so I doubt my account still even exists haha. I got kind of annoyed when they changed the Bruce from the guy to the bird or whatever lol. That one and the blue-green tiger were my favorite pets on there. They're the only one I really remember and I remember having some petpets too lol.

Yeah, optional would be great as long as they don't set all accounts that way as a default. If they made an announcement on the site saying "We now offer 2fa. If you'd like to use it, you'll need to go into your account settings to toggle the option on and then follow the next steps provided. If you don't want to use 2fa, you won't need to do anything and will be able to login to the site as you always have", or something along those lines.

Please do NOT send trades for my event tokens. I rarely trade tokens before I get all of the event items/pets that I want. When my tokens are for trade, I will put that in my trade posts on the trade threads. Thank you.

I honestly don’t know why people think hoards are such a huge problem. If anything, this thread shows that there’s much more important things to worry about.
