so everyone who adopts on that specific day would get one? that would make the rarity of the pet shoot way down? we'd have uncommon ur pets.
Im not sure how the rarities would work exactly I just think the chances of getting them are way too low when they contribute to a complete collection number. Those who actually are willing to trade them are doing that whole MA/NON stuff which a lot of us (and especially newer players) will have no idea about or never be able to trade for.

As a newer player, I disagree personally. I LIKE there being super hard to get pets. It gives me something to work towards! I don't mind the grind that comes with it, because it motivates me to keep coming back to the site and trading. But that's just me!

event or even monthly very rares would actually be incredibly useful to the economy. new players have VERY limited chances of getting “good pets”. the pound, quitting users, and december 18th. store pets aren’t even consistently very rare like they used to be. it’s so hard to get fodder as a new player if you don’t already have offsite items or friends to help you. i personally loved the space event where the green robot rat was very rare on release.
very rares would make trading enjoyable again to be honest. i haven’t actively traded for “complete collections” for over 5 years because the pets just aren’t interesting anymore. they’re all just commons and uncommons and it’s quite easy to get them. there isn’t any sort of challenge, so there’s no satisfaction in completing a month.
you shouldn’t have to dig back years and years in the archive to find pets that are actually worth something. it’s just unfair to new users and it’s understandable if they “give up” before they get anything valuable. it’s just way too hard to get a footing in the trading market
as for the “limiting very rare+ hoards”, i strongly disagree. i don’t think there should be any rules dictating how someone plays the game. i personally used to have a hoard of 5 UR strawberries; i fairly traded for every single one and i loved every single one very very much. as long as the person gets them fairly, i see no reason to limit how they play the game.

- I think 2nd gen store pets would be cool. A lot of the original lines of very valuable store pets are not something that could be reused even if we wanted because those artists are no longer with the team and we only have the finished files of their pets, not WIPs of line edits. I also in no way support any gatcha or gambling system to obtain real money pets.
- I would support the ability for users to view their board warning count to be removed and just allow users to rely on the actual text of the message they receive, which will tell them explicitly if they are in danger of bans or account restrictions (this is already true people just seem like the warning count is upsetting them).
- I also support having the Dec 18th release contain more pets or have a second similar event at another time in the year. It would just have to be heavily advertised so people didn’t feel like they missed out on it
- I think the idea of a tiny chance of existing UR pets being released in regular litters of their species is interesting.
- I think an email list that sends out a notification when an event starts would be a cool thing to be able to opt into.
- I think I said this already but I am open to the rarity system having more detailed levels.
- I support the pound randomizing the age of the pets on the page.
- I would be okay with pings but they’re not something I really support.
- I’m definitely interested in the idea of being able to sort your pets manually in your groups.
There are plenty of user suggestions that have been posted on this board that I have supported over the years, a lot of them got put in the pinned thread I maintain. But if an AA posts on the thread and says “support” there will definitely be people who get a wrong idea that the suggestion is being worked on in some way when I do not have the power to do that.
One more note, when I’m talking about the “people don’t like rare outcomes thing” I’m talking about the experience of users not being able to use the event discussion threads to talk about the event because every other post is just complaints about not getting the rare thing yet. It is not hypothetical.
Thank you for putting your ideas out there and what you like! If we can talk instead of being shot down it’s super helpful so truly, thank you! I definitely think something needs to be done. It doesn’t have to be our ideas and of course, I know you guys as staff don’t have a whole lot of say in what happens. That really comes down to the admins (who should also really be apart of this). As I said before, I’m afraid if nothing is done, the site will die off. It’s not a matter of if, but when. Something has to be done. Will people get mad? Yes! People will be mad no matter what and I’ve seen angry posts no matter what happens so unfortunately, that is inevitable. Will other people be super excited and maybe more people will join the site. Also yes! I really feel it comes down to, change aspects and make some people mad, or do nothing and let the whole site fade into non-existence. But that’s just my 2 cents.

in all honesty, i also think potentially breaking down what it is that specific categories of staff can and can’t do might help with some confusion. because mostly, when things happen, the answer seems to be that whatever staff member is responding doesn’t have the power or the ability to make such decisions, changes, suggestions, whatever it may be. i think that the user base having absolutely 0 understanding about the difference between what an admin vs an admin assistant vs a global mod vs any other staff member can do really adds to confusion and frustration. especially when something happens and users can see red, green and purple names online but there are no answers to whats going on… it just adds to the confusion.

My only complaint with the site is the damage The List did to the pet economy. Some people just decided some pets were worth more for no real reason and even after discontinuing it, lots of people still follow it. The value gap between uncommon and rare is also way to high but these are economy things that I don't think have a good way for staff to fix them except by introducing very restrictive rules which I don't want.

i know im only a newer staff member; so i won't be commenting on a lot of the stuff going on here, because i'm still learning the ropes myself. but i do just want to add my piece as a community member: i don't think the suggested changes that make this a more "active" game, like flight rising, are necessarily good ones personally. the things that make CS unique is that it is just an old school forum that has a pet collecting game inside of it.
i wish there was an easy answer and an easy fix to the problems that some people in this thread have with the site, but there isn't. especially the stuff RE getting VR's, "battling" against hoarders etc (hoarding isn't something i personally have a problem with and kind of find endearing; though i understand why it may upset some users). i do like and support the idea of there being an extra yearly event that gives out older pets, like dec 18; that seems like it would alleviate some of the pressure yall are feeling. and the suggestion about putting older URs etc as a very rare chance inside litters (a la zebras) is a neat little idea as well.
i also do just want to say to please remember there are actual real people behind the usernames here. the staff really are trying hard and want the best for the site and its longevity, same as you. that includes the admins and aa's.

Few pages late but I just wanted to vocalize that I really appreciate the fact you read some of these posts, listened to the sentiments here about wanting more constructive feedback from moderators and administration, and then proceeded to provide that while also making clear your own needs around abusing the information. I think that's really responsive and reflection and kind of you. I feel very appreciative of your suggestions and reflections. Thank you.

honestly having minigames in general sounds like a lot of fun, especially if they had incentives like the ones you mentioned, either that or earn in-game currency players could use to buy more pets or items. something like what FR an NP does. it would definitely have players coming back.
meat ball meat ball spaghetti underneath, ravioli ravioli great barrier reef!
