WHY PEOPLE ARE QUITTING CS- A Discussion

i think a lot of people are forgetting that at it’s core this is a forum game website targeted towards children where you adopt virtual pets. there really isn’t any need to hate on things here, there’s plenty of other places to do that freely. i’m not trying to silence anyone, i’m sharing my own opinion which i believe is just as valid as everyone else’s :)

while everyone should able to voice their concerns its felt like an ongoing hate speech, very specifically attacking so many staff members (who i do agree a few have been rude, but none of the ones on this thread seem to have partaken in it/some users are making a big deal saying smth is rude when really its just professional)

also everyone is trying to make the site more young adult oriented when this site was originally made for kids,,, like i understand that one would not want so many restrictions but protecting kids from being exposed to malicious content is far more important

there has got to be a more productive way to drive this dicussion,,, 🏃🏃🏃

i think it’s because one is created by people while the other is a food? saying you hate spaghetti isn’t going to hurt any one’s feelings, but saying you hate phasmophobia could hurt the community/dev’s feelings. not that they USE chicken smoothie, but you know. a line has to be drawn somewhere to prevent it from getting worse and hating things that could cause issues.

If I tell someone I hate a game it shouldn't mean I get a warning. People literally join Phasmophobia discord to say they hate it and they are right to do that after what the devs did outside the game AND to the game. People can hate WITH REASON. I myself don't like football and I think it's unfun. I hate football and some of the things surrounding it, but by no means is that hate speech in ANY regard. If you silence every negative opinion regardless of what it's on- YOU ARE STILL SILENCING SOMEONE ELSE'S FEELINGS.

phasmiphobia was just an example. people joining that specific discord and talking about hating it isn’t really relevant. i agree people can hate with reason, but i don’t think it’s particular useful or needed on a children’s website. the “anti” rules were put into place for a reason, and that’s what i meant by the line being drawn somewhere to prevent it from getting worse.

also people having “i hate chicken smoothie” and then continuing to play it is odd to me.

it’s about silencing any negative opinions. i do NOT want a warning for me saying ‘i dont like genshin!!!’ or ‘i dont like FR!!!’ it makes me Not want to share any of my opinions on the site
i should be allowed to say i dont like something without having to worry about a mod in my pms.

i think that there is a stark difference in saying you dislike something and literally having a stamp in ur sig, which is everywhere, saying you hate something

^^^ You are totally allowed to dislike things and say you dislike them on CS. Making topics dedicated to hate and parading it around in your profile is what is not permitted.

i would like to agree with this. saying you dislike something or don’t agree with something is much different than saying you hate something.

I do really love ur idea about staff taking reign of the instagram and the reels will be very helpful to get the site seen and get more players joining in. including with what u said "how staff get ready to CS" within no face reveal, itll be cool to see some of the back end work going on!

Speaking of the mysterious back-end, it might be fun to get a little 'sneak peek' at upcoming litters/items. Not a whole design or anything, but really zoomed in or ridiculously blurred with little to no context given to help build up some excitement for future releases. Or, potentially, a timelapse of one of the designs at the end of the month or seeing designs that didn't quite make the cut.

i think this is a really cute idea! are the people who run the current ig willing to give it over to staff?? or would they need to make a new one?

i do think this is a pretty good idea. the transformice instagram existing reminds me to check back in on the game every now and then, when otherwise i probably wouldnt. it might help just a little bit!

Can I just slip in my Patreon idea again? I think doing a Patreon subscription with "behind the scenes" stuff would be fun. Scrapped pet ideas, voting on the next month's store pet species, etc....which in turn, with enough Patreons would make maybe enough money to do the whole merch thing? Plushies, stickers, pins, etc.

this would be such a cool idea !! I think something like this would definitely keep more people involved. Just little things like this, or polls and mini challenges to keep people involved rather than just having people around during the summer event and Dec 18

Hi! New member here and have been on CS since 2021 and so far with my time being here on the site has been relatively fun and somewhat of a pass time for me. Since I’m busy with other things and I only come to accept trades (if I ever get any), to participate in the events and to collect the monthly pets. Though there was a instance that I’d consider that left a bad taste in my mouth.

When I first joined I had no idea what I was doing and I was confused by the trading, but wanting to expand and try something I sent my first trade to a user and I had read their rules and they said they can trade Wishlist for Wishlist without any rares being a factor into the trading, so I sent them a trade but out of no where they said due to the rarity differences it was a “unfair” trade and that if I sent them another one I’d be blacklisted, so I held off from trading for a while until people started trading with me and started asking why I didn’t have any rules set in place. Personally for me, I feel like rarities, species etc doesn’t matter, if I have a animal you want and you wish to give me a item, pet/etc in return, I wouldn’t decline. Everyone should be allowed to trade despite the rare thing being involved, who cares about the rarity of a pet? I certainly don’t, but some people may disagree but I completely respect that 100%. It’s just a personal opinion. That’s why whenever I do trades, I’m very polite and open to everyone. And my rules are quite fair (if not, do tell me! I’m open to changes/criticism.) But yeah that’s my take with the trading system here.

People can disagree (like I said before) and I’m fine with that, but I just feel that we as the players should at least have a bit more freedom to express ourselves, I understand with the kids and everything, but maybe if you’re gonna have a game with both minors and adults sharing it, least make spaces to divide the two away from each other.

That’s all I have to say, but what do you guys think?

Edit - I’m so sorry for any trouble I have caused, looking at the replies, it wasn’t my intention to sound or come off weird and that I wanted a NSFW space for adults, I meant that I wouldn’t mind just a bit of swearing, nothing more. However I removed the part where I spoke about the second instance since it’s not relevant, but I just wanted to say an experience that never happened to me before is all. Besides neopets, CS is literally the only thing I use and even after all this time I still don’t understand the rules.
