About coders, if coders are to expensive, maybe it's possible to hire some for small jobs here or there? And maybe some type of event where you get a special pet for 'donating' money until we reached the goal to pay the coder? I don't know how much CS makes but Coders are expensive. But yeah, everything stays normal, there's some page at the top where lets say you pay a dollar to get x pet, or get c$ and pay c$ to get it and x amount of the original usd payment for c$ goes into a pool for a coder.
Gosh, I was all over the place writing that but hopefully it makes sense.
I'm an artist.

When I order art, please message me when I ask you too! I do NOT always recheck forums as I am a busy person. There's a chance I won't have payment, I only keep payment when I know that a commission was accepted.

On a separate note I want to suggest maybe Staff takeovers of the Official Instagram, solely because I myself would LOVE to make reels and stories to introduce myself, answer questions, do giveaways, make dress ups, do a "get ready for "work" (It's me making tea and getting comfy to play on CS for the day and ) with me", and other stuff, and then have it added to a highlight on the page so people can get to know everyone behind CS on a more personal level.
Obviously CS rules would be followed to no face reveals but like I think it'd be a lot of fun

Malleus wrote:This may be a wild take and probably won't make sense, but as an oldish soul on this website, having been here since 2012, this is something I was thinking about.
CS, over the years, took MANY stances to 'remove negativity' from it's forums. It killed the trade rant thread. It killed the 'things that annoy you' thread. It constantly has killed off places where the users could expressive negative opinions about things. Even if those opinions were following all CS rules by not naming names. Mods really locked down on 'bullying and harassment' and while I fully support that decision, it has exasperated the issue I have with the mods.
Mods have the ability to come off as blunt or rude. They are in the position of power to do so.
But that ability has over time been removed from the users.
Which is why I think the mods sounding 'rude or blunt' is more of an issue, or something users notice more, because the mods sometimes speak in a way that users frankly aren't allowed to.
I didn't notice the mod bluntness NEARLY as much when I first joined, but in that 2015-2017 era where all those threads started getting deleted and CS cracked down harder on its rules and what was allowed? BOY did I notice it then.
Again, wild take and probably nonsensical but I miss being able to be unhappy or angry about things as long as I was following the rules.
Your take kindof sums up the reason why this thread got so popular so fast. Because the options to discuss unhappiness wasn't there much.

Simon wrote:Hi I wanted to jump in and clarify that the universal stance for staff PMs is that tone should be professional and to the point. Sending PMs to users and saying "you broke x rule" isn't inherently rude. When someone is breaking a rule we have to let them know in a clear and concise manner.
I empathize with why it could be upsetting, but a message resulting from a rule being broken will not contain language used with friends such as tone indicators and smiley faces - I promise you that warnings/PMs are never meant as an attack. As always if you feel like a staff member has crossed a line into being rude (bullying/name calling/targeting/harassment/etc.) please send a ticket to admin level and I can review the situation (I have communicated in very rare cases when a tone wasn't appropriate and do take this seriously)
I think it's a bit unfair to act like everyone in this thread expects "language used with friends and smiley faces" as this is definitely not the only alternative to the extremely blunt approach...
In my case the PM I received was word for word "I have explicitly requested that this topic be dropped. Do not ignore a moderator's requests." for not seeing a moderator post that was on a different page of a thread I was replying to. The notice itself was definitely warranted as it was my bad for missing it, but it could easily have been reworded to still be professional and firm without treating me like I deliberately "ignored moderator's requests" out of some sort of spite or malice. The use of "please" and maybe a link to the actual request would go a LONG way to make the post sound less... accusatory and yes, borderline rude.
I didn't want to bring up the actual word-for-word post out but I feel like concrete examples will in the long run be more helpful for the actual conversation to illustrate what kind of responses users are finding a problem with. If we aren't allowed to share, then feel free to edit it out I guess but I don't see why there would be an issue?

Just a thought on this. When we were all kids and we did bad things our parents would punish us for them, correct? Whether that was physical or verbal was up to the parents, but I’ve gotten yelled at and screamed at plenty of times in my life for doing the wrong thing and I’ve had to accept the punishments as they were dealt out because I made bad decisions and reaped the consequences.
When your parents yelled at you and got angry did you ever think “wow why are they being so mean to me???” We all did. But what did you expect? For them to just sweetly tell you not to do it again and take you for ice cream? No, you expected them to be angry and punish you accordingly for what you did wrong.
Apply that to our staff here. They may not be our parents, but they are our guardians in a way, the guardians of this community. And when we do wrong do you think it will be learned if they simply say it’s okay and move on and give us some sort of special treatment? No.
Much in the same way we assumed our parents were being mean when all they were doing was trying to educate, the staff have the same responsibility of trying to get us to understand where we went wrong and what we could do to not make those mistakes again. They are not here to simply hold your hand and get you an ice cream cone. They are also not here to bully you and be mean. They are just here to do their job and keep our community safe and happy. Taking their job as a personal attack won’t get us anywhere.

I think that would be so much fun tbh
And it could go a little more themed for like events and stuff (like for this event a picture of the woods with like the bigfoot pet edited in for instance)

Honestly I love that the official Instagram has been posting and engaging with the community! I think creative posts like the ones you've mentioned would benefit CS by finding new players and possibly making more engaging content!

hot take but theres a major difference between staff being professional and flat out rude.
the amount of mods ive interacted with who have been dirty to me are frankly concerning. i dont have a screenshot now or anything but when i was a child playing on here one of the mods got EXTREMELY rude with me. i was a child. and this particular mod abused their power. some of my friends at the time also mentioned being targeted by the mod. i dont remember the username of them but i think? theyve retired or something. i was also terrified to report them as the other mods had (and lets be honest, still have) bias. theyd automatically defend each other no matter who was in the wrong.
that made me quit cs the first time. when i came back, i found my account was completely deleted. all of my pets, my collections, pms, friends, everything. it was all gone.
i still get sad about it.
also, to stay on the topic: i genuinely hope the mods who have posted here are reading a lot of this bc so many of yall have made excellent suggestions on how to improve the site. i also am in love with the idea of more dec. 18th type events. also! i forget who but someone mentioned having more than 900-1000 pets each pound opening. it used to actually! back in 2013-2014 they used to have up to 3k pets each opening. dunno when the number lowered but it would be so cool to have that back, especially since there are almost a million pets in the pound.
i love emily pope so so much
