But as said, social anxiety here, I never really caught on the normal social 'politeness' so maybe thats a just a me problem. I've worked in customer service for a number of years and having to say things like 'have a nice day' probably feels fake by extension of being forced to end every customer interaction with it.

As I have also worked in customer service for years, I understand that common nicities like "have a nice day" become scripted rather than sincere, and that outside of the workplace you wouldn't want to say that.
However, regardless of whether or not it is a volunteer position, this site is also your workplace, and on it you are in a position of authority over registered users, and how you speak to them matters.
Saying you would never genuinely wish someone a nice day with a warning is not encouraging. I hate to ask people to step out of their comfort zone, but as this is your job, I think you have a duty to listen to the users and adjust accordingly, even if it isn't how you would choose to relay the information to them. You say warnings are not serious to staff, but the members of the site do not feel that way when they receive one, and by asking the staff to use softer language to relay that I do not think they are asking too much.
If you cannot bring yourself to wish someone a nice day with a message, then choose one that does come from the heart. "I hope you enjoy your time here on CS!" or something so users don't feel as alienated or downtrodden.
It's okay if you don't understand or agree, but if users see that you're trying to, I think it would mean a lot.

to say that saying “have a nice day” feels like a slap in the face is a very…strange way to view things aha, i 100% agree with everything ziggy has said!!

back to the topic (since we’re kind of derailing,) I think having more coders to have a monthly event, they don’t have to be different, they can be the same events each month but with different pets maybe?

I would like to pop in and say, people have different interpretations of what is rude and what is not rude. What some think of as rude to others it could be the normal depending on where they're from. It is also hard to judge tone reading words off a screen. The line of rude can be hard to judge from person to person

i like this idea!! i want to politely disagree though, i don’t think this is derailing, i think it’s perfectly valid concerns regarding the moderating and i truly do think some things need to change to bring a better sense of community and improve the site as a whole :)

I'm also with ziggy on this one.

You can't have it both ways. You can't advocate for professionalism, i.e. acknowledging that this is a job and a professional setting, and then choose not to do things that people would see as requirements of having a job like this.

If I spoke the way I speak 'comfortably' to people in my job, I wouldn't have it anymore. Yeah, I hate the false niceness and the 'have a good day' but it's my job and I do it, because it's part of having that job and being professional.

I can't just be blunt to my clients or customers.

And on CS, as a mod, the users are basically your clients and customers.

I honestly agree with the "have a nice day" part. I think in some professions like fast food and such its appropriate, but in a message reminding you of the rules I can see how it would come off as condescending and sarcastic.
I do think however the language could be improved. Saying something like.. "Hey! I wanna remind you of rule xyz.. you are not allowed to do xyz. If you want more examples that would qualify as xyz or dont quite understand the issue, message me! Let me know of you have any questions concerning this matter so we can figure it out. Thank you!

juuust gonna add my opinion on this. although i do agree trading should be EASIER, i do think trading should have its challenges. all those people with those big pets usually did put in all the time and effort to get em, and to have the worth suddenly drop due to new rereleases would be a terrible feeling for them too. i think it should be Easier for newer players/players with less stuff to get higher value things, but not just drop everything out for everyone to have because it’ll upset a lot of people in the process.
yes, i hate having to trade an arm and a leg for a high value pet. yes, i hate having to dig through cracks and crevices to even FIND someone who has the pets i want. and yes, i hate drawing for hours for one high value pet. and while i do think there should be less effort in it, i think the effort you put in is a part of the gameplay. if everything was super easy/not much work to get, it’d get boring, no? i like that you have to put in work to get stuff! i just think that currently, it’s too much work. i dont have hours to study a list that isn’t even that accurate at times and search every player on here for the pet i want, just to find it in a ‘vhttf huge overpay only’ group (which isnt their fault, i like my nice pets too, but it definitely sucks when it happens. i dont have 80k c$ to add to an offer at all times!! and when you do find someone who wants to trade fairly… i have no good pets. :? i think it should be. 🤏little easier to get decent value things.
sorry if this makes absolutely no sense i lose my train of thought a lot and do my best to just put words on the page 😭😭

i know this was an old topic, i dont know what pages but i do agree staff should at least try to put some emotion into their messages.

ive had some times (2 or 3 times) where ive gotten responses from tickets that did not help at all, and were just blatantly rude (not trying to be rude, i understand for some that expressing is hard through text messages), but, come on man.

dont get me wrong, i love the staff and what they do, but i do wish there were better communication skills involved in tickets + just the site in general. just my opinion, some staff are chill while others are not.

Infailia wrote:I strongly agree that bluntness and professionalism should not be the same thing. Even just adding some simple words/phrases like 'unfortunately', 'however', 'please', 'in the future', 'reminder', etc, etc and having a softened closing statement such as 'hope this helps', 'take care', 'please reach out if you have any questions', so on and so forth would go a long way. Furthermore, unlike emoticons, these are all things that are seen and used in professional settings (you should always sign off a professional email, so why not a C$ warning PM?)

The reality of the situation is that just about all of us do use phrases like these for every warning. Language might get more disciplinary in cases where users are purposefully repeatedly doing things that are more serious, but for practically every scenario being genuinely discussed here this is precisely the language we use. It's difficult to have a useful response to these suggestions because it's already the standard for us.

All of this! And what Ziggy said! I am a teacher, I work with people, and often have to tell students rules or remind them of such, but I make sure to do it in a way that doesn't cause them to fear me, or shut down and stop trying things overall. I mentioned in a previous post a warning I got years ago still bothers me today from how I, an ignorant child, made a simple mistake, and the wording of said "scolding" shook me so bad I stopped trying forums at all.

Everyone does see rudeness/bluntness differently, but clarity is golden. Stating the rule that may have been broken, while nOt discouraging the person, is in itself professional. Its a balance of holding authority, while not intimidating the person so bad they *fear* you, the site, or anything similar.

Don't wanna dwell on this topic much more so that's my take on the matter. For the other stuff, I do wanna say lots of good ideas have been said here! New pet organization tabs, the Dice Roll pet gift box, minigames, additional coding help, I do love seeing people want so hard to help this site improve! The voices just need to be heard.
