A Discord Server that implements:
1. Site Updates / Announcements
2. Announcements for Events
3. Announcements for Pound / LNF
4. QnA sessions

Would be really interesting to see!

That would be absolutely amazing and helpful if it did happen. There'd be more transparency with what's going on with the sight then

I disagree with having an official endorsed discord that people can chat in. Having community ran discord groups is the way to do it. Or the view only Pixel Cat’s end server would be nice.

I have seen the official Dappervolk discord burn the admin and mods directly when they disagree with how events or site developments are going, which is a massive burden on them. Can you imagine all the CS hate fueling each other on a discord discussion and it being directly delivered to the staff who own the discord? Well I can, it used to happen seasonally on the DV discord. A community discord would just be a healthy buffer between the staff and players. I don’t want a parasocial situation spring up where people feel entitled, especially to staff, which is way too common nowadays with the current Internet culture.

One big issue people had was the discord getting updates and news that the rest of the site didn’t get with new announcements. Most of the information was rule clarification since it was so casual, but people who weren’t part of the discord got angry that the info wasn’t shared on site. Which I think is fair because everyone needs to be informed about the same thing. Having multiple places to check the chat about is a big logistical problem.

The discord is also stagnate now, where there are lots of channels or rules that could be shifted around that a user led discord community can easily change. I am in an official discord for Onmyoji who just fired all the volunteer moderators and it’s now just left to one admin running it. They expect us to be civil, which we are, but if a spammer/scammer comes around, people have to wait until that one admin shows up to clean up the mess. That discord is also stagnant because we can’t do community held events anymore, make announcements, pin things or change anything about the server. When community admins get bored, they can hand it over to someone else, there is no escape for an official discord besides another place for it to mod and grow stagnate especially if there is no common ground for people to talk about since updates aren’t seasonal like FR.

As far as suggestions for site improvements go, I raised this before on a similar thread and was told how/why it wouldn't work, but I just wanted to put this out there too:

I don't really come to CS to socialise. (It's nice, of course, but not my main reason for being here.) The main reason I'm here is for the pets. I don't really trade, I just enjoy the pets I have. The problem is, there isn't really much to this, and a bit more interaction would keep me here for much longer.

Another site I'm on that's very similar to CS has options where you can feed/brush/play with your pets or write little stories in their descriptions. I'd appreciate a few buttons to click, even if it did functionally nothing, it'd make me feel more like I was interacting with something. Currently I just sort of sign on, look at pictures, then leave again for another month.

So maybe an overhaul of what you can actually do with the pets would be nice too (but must be totally optional for those who don't want to engage with it)

Discord has ways of handling things like that. With discord you can mute or ban those who are being extremally hateful and or breaking the rules of the server

Hopping in, I just personally don't think the site should be reliant on a separate site to function...like a chat is nice but what if people don't want Discord? Just wanna keep it Site-focused?

Kinda the same vibe as me thinking this site should fix the C$ issue, so you don't *have* to have another source of content to have trade fun. What if someone doesn't do art, or has no Flight Rising to trade for rares? Should the site be *reliant* on other sources to be fully playable?

And having these things are fine! I love Flight Rising, and a discord isn't a bad idea! And if you do art, yay! But I personally don't think the trading aspect, the core of the site, OR the site itself, should be life-line hooked up to outside sources to fully function. Idk if I'm wording this right but ah well XD

Agree with what's been said here, especially the point about rule clarification. I'm a mod for Chicoons (Closed Species), and this is a discrepancy we've noticed within our own community. Having discussion around site function happen off-site inherently excludes people from the conversation (especially COPPA users), making it unfair.

I think an official Discord Server (that isn't view-only) isn't practical. It would be great in a vacuum! But unfortunately I don't think CS staff have the manpower to do this (and shouldn't be expected to)

I do want to clarify, the idea of an official discord server was purely a suggestion and not something that was expected to happen
