WHY PEOPLE ARE QUITTING CS- A Discussion

I want to reiterate what I said: whether you're receiving a message reminder or a board warning, it's just a PM to your account. We have procedures and protocols for how we handle and document things and at the end of the day it's generally only severe rulebreaking that results in someone getting banned (which is pretty rare unless you're cheating for pets or posting vile inappropriate content and things like that). We work extensively with users through any rulebreaking and give many chances, but we're not just going to edit your signature without talking to you, and I think most people would prefer we ask you to edit it yourself rather than mess with it. You can pretty much view any staff communication the same unless we explicitly tell you that you are at risk for account restrictions/bans/etc. I understand getting a message from staff can be stressful, but we have to communicate with you when you break the rules.

This type of situation basically happened to me. I didn't realise the depth of investigation the staff went into (i was genuinely astounded but i also respect that effort and commitment) after I got a warning for an insta link in socials i had up for over a year/a toyhouse link in an art example post after seeing many many others do it and not knowing the depth of the levels of censorship (not criticising this). I escalated the warning to an admin assistant and discussed it however and got it resolved.

For people like me and I'm sure others, even if something like a board warning doesn't seem much to staff, it's really damaging in our minds to have that recorded somewhere.

What I will note is that staff themselves generally do not go into this level of investigation. They really don't have the time or energy. 9 times out of 10, it's another user that was browsing your profile, noticed it, and reported it.

Seeing staff in a hostile way or feeling called out by this when other users get away with it (neither of which Gadreel is doing here! Just using this post as a soapbox) is understandable but not a productive way to understand the CS moderation system.

I understand getting a message from staff can be stressful, but we have to communicate with you when you break the rules.

I think a lot of us (including me), just get extremely anxious over DMs from staff members. I know in the past, most of the time staff weren't as engaging as they are now, which made it even scarier, because we didn't see them as just another player.

I totally understand where you're coming from and definitely appreciate the reassurance that the modmin team doesn't mean to be mean. :>

no one is saying not to have staff communicate with us, we're just suggesting that this stuff isn't really that bad to warrant strikes on our accounts - even if strikes are not necessary for getting banned, and in functionality are not much different than verbal warnings, it still makes a lot of us feel a lot worse about what we did, and would rather just be given a verbal warning when it's something as small as having your age or a picture many links removed from CS, than a strike /gen
also, i'd like to ask, why have verbal warnings vs strikes if there is no actual difference between the two? if they are the exact same in concept, what makes the difference that leads to it being a warning vs a strike? /gen
