Trading feels impossible, I appreciate the effort for the events but it's mainly what keeps me coming on to play, and Monthlies I don't even watch them grow like I used to. I remember back in 2013 I loved watching them grow I checked every day, now I check at the end of the month.... Sometimes.

What you said about watching them grow...I feel this so hard. I used to watch my Butterfly Wolves especially, keeping on top if I missed an outcome right away and all that. Now? I just wait until the end and put what I missed on my wishlist. :?

That's exactly what I do too.. I miss being excited for them and so many have adorable designs even growing up but I just... Find myself looking in the Archive what they looked like if I'm truly curious. It just doesn't feel worth it to come on every single day just to see if something possibly grew up.
Sometimes I don't even Wishlist them until a few months later

Hey hey hey CS peoples. I 100% agree staff needs at least one more coder on their team besides Nick.
It's probably scary to give someone else that kind of control, but I mean, if things keep going the way they're going, then the site's just going to die out anyway.

I wish that the play base would be able to have pet design challenges and make their own items. CS is about embracing yourself and creativity at times!

big yes!! i already commented about this on another suggestion thread but i feel like it is a really cool idea which if implemented right could help the site a lot!!
xiaojun wrote:this sounds so cool! a little minigame section would be really cute, especially if they’ve done minigames in the past as it sounds like they have! and maybe to keep it more site relevant add a small chance of getting some pets/items? maybe steal a pet or item from a monthly litter each month and make it a minigame exclusive!! would give an incentive to play :]!!!

Really glad people are bringing up hoarding being an issue tbh. I thought I was just being sensitive lol. But man, as someone who hasn't been on the site for as long as most other users have, it's really frustrating seeing people hoard tens or sometimes literal hundreds of ONE older or uncommon + pet and making them ridiculously hard to trade for, or just not trading them at all. If people are willing to trade off pets they have plenty multiples of without issue, I don't see a problem with it, but unfortunately it seems like that isn't the case with most hoarders.

I know hoards, particularly with rarer pets, can be frustrating. This is coming from someone who has a couple of common or uncommon hoards. However being told what we can and cant do with our pets, even after trading fairly for them and whatnot, would frustrate a lot of players and likely result in even more people quitting. It would be like being tokd that we're not allowed to collect that thing we want to collect, or that we cant have spares to trade. Even for non hoarders it would eventually become quite frustrating

I started in 2016 and only really collect pets and trade so I cant speak on behalf of the other more social aspects of the game but I did want to chime in with an idea i had on a way of re-releasing older pets into the economy that may work to boost the game a bit. I dont really know or understand the issues everyone is having with the coders but as someone who tries to trade when they come on I definitely notice the economy issues. IT IS HARD TO GET OLD PETS!!! simply put everyone knows it and the challenge can be fun but also it can look and feel genuinely impossible sometimes. I dont think I can get behind the idea of deleting older accounts mayyybe just 10+ years ones but I know I have some friends that are very infrequent who still cant bear to part with some of their pets even to close irl friends.

My idea is this:
1) obviously like other people have been saying make more interaction based and longer events as most of the time people only genuinely interact for events (myself included :/) even if this doesnt mean more pets to each event there could be more minigames or challenge games that could yield a certain pet if you get a certain high score (food for thought). so there could be less grinding for banners and more grinding for minigames which is more engagement really
2) We could release more pets on Dec. 18 ? to try to balance the scales as other people have been saying
3) most importantly and something I thought of is that we could have some sort of implication where if you interact on the site through some form whether that be trading or getting a pound pet or rping everyday for a month or say for 30 days total (for the people who just cant consecutively be on every day) you get a pet from a randomized pot of 2008-2012 omgsr-uc. Like a lottery almost and you scratch your ticket simply by being active for a set number of days. or like a punch card: play 30 or 20 times and you get an old pet! I dont know it sounded better in my head i just thought it would encourage people to interact, reward them for playing, slowly re-introduce pets back into the economy, and lets people do it on their own time without constraining them to a set week like events do. the only issue is I have ZERO idea how this would be implemented as it sounds like a very complicated system to put together, itd have to restrict the forums that are spam and would have to make sure that people arent just opening the game for 10 minutes and closing it for the time spent for the day but anyways it is out of the box and somethingggg

I will say though since the circus event and when people had a discussion similar to this one, the pet quality, new linearts, and extra mini events have been INSANE I LOVE THEM!! so I am hoping this discussion will bring good like it did that year <3

I just think they should make it possible to request/pay for/trade for custom pets.

Wouldn't it be nice for it to be possible for a pet that only you in the world could have? I'd pay for it no cap

odi wrote:yeah, limiting the amount of pets somebody can have in any sense seems like the wrong move. i don't have anything against hoards really, if you're willing to put in the time and effort to build up a collection then you deserve it honestly. if you can manage to get more and more rares, who am i to tell you you're doing it wrong?

that being said, it can be pretty intimidating to players who don't have those opportunities.

This. There is no right or wrong way to collect on CS...as that's the whole point of the site. If you can get 12 Skelebuns, then go you, you deserve it with that much hard work.

Rereleasing store pets is never going to happen, as Tess, herself, has said it won't happen.

@Everyone I STRONGLY suggest reading and sifting through this thread, as there are mod responses to the exact same topics.

which makes me sad that their work is less valued than older pets, a rare should be a rare to matter the year, their work shouldn't be viewed or valued as lesser

Hello! The reason why older pets are valued more isn't because people think the designs are superior to the newer ones, but because of how long they have been in circulation it makes it more difficult to find people who have doubles for trade, since there have been years of trading in between for that pet. Not to mention a lot of older accounts are inactive and the pets stagnant on those accounts. It's significantly more common to see
user who joined in 2020 than 2008. It is more of a scarcity breeds demand issue than one of artistic taste, although there are some older users (like me) who are nostalgic for the old lines and designs. I understand why this can be frustrating for new users. It felt impossible to get 2008 pets when I first joined and it still kind of feels that way now. But the point of the game isn't "winning" by collecting every pet on the site. It's just to idle and have fun :^)

thats the issue which earlier responses suggested to fix by rereleasing older pets, or making DEC 18th have more pets/ higher rarity pets.
i understand supply and demand, but it can be discouraging to artists whose art is valued less than older art.
do you think if they had the option, they would ask that fewer people receive the art they made to make the pets rarer? that would be weird if they did, not very fair for the player base, but thats what happened with older pets throughout the years. imo people should be able to get their dream pets without trading away a leg and liver, and without spending 12 hours trading.

When I was a newbie in 2011, all the monthly pets I adopted were commons and uncommons, same as todays pets, with only the events producing rares. Now, they're almost all uncommon and up, same with 2012 and 2013. This is not due to artists purposefully making their pets harder to get but because this is a children's site, and a lot of users grow out of it or forget about it . The rarity system is calculated based on active users and the pets in their account; older pets are rarer because so many are left rotting in inactive accounts. Even if a 2010 and 2020 are both rare, the 2010 rare has had so much more time to be traded around; there are less people who have doubles of that and a significant portion are NFT by those who have only one (not getting into hoards). So even if they're both rare, there are a lot less of the 2010 rare up for trade.
Older pets being valued more does not diminish the quality of work produced by newer artists nor people's opinion of it. Art increases in value with age, same as with an oil painting or antique furniture. People admire it for what it meant at the time. Maybe the old pets aren't as technically outstanding as those produced by the new art staff, but they were the best at the time, and people appreciate that.
The old pets are what got the site popular enough to be able to hire new staff that produce absolutely stunning work. I do not think the artists feel that their art is being looked down on, and if ever they do, there is a strong outspoken group of CS users, like you, who are very encouraging and supportive if they ever feel under appreciated :^)

*i made an earlier post about my opinion on the Dev 18th issue. Not repeating it here to avoid redudancy
