Garwhisker put their nose to the ground, sniffing for any plants. Their nose was far better than their eyes. Since they were a kit, their eyesight has been fine, but not the best. It had been hard for them to see things from far away, they were near-sighted. They were afraid to admit it to Fogspirit and Cygnuswillow, though, because what if they viewed them as weak? Unable to do anything for themselves? What if they would baby them just like their family had?

They shook their head and kept sensing, pushing the thought deep down. They wouldn't let their own feelings ruin a fresh start. The strong scent of catmint filled their nostrils, leading them down a grassy slope. Garwhisker had considered it a rare find, catmint is usually only found in Upwalker nests! Proud of their find, they put it into their small basket they had gently weaved from long reeds.

Continuing on, they had found a couple other herbs and some useless plants that they kept in their reed-basket anyways just in case. They pushed away long, yellow grasses as they looked around for the entrance to camp. They had spotted the two large rocks that sat on either side of the entrance. They trotted over, squeezing into the entrance of shrubs. Leaves had been caught in their fur, which still kinda bothered them each time it happened. They brushed themselves off with a paw.

On the other side of the shrubs, a clearing surrounded by tall reeds sat comfortably near the calm, dark water. Their paws slightly sunk into the wet soil, kicking around dirt as they shook their paws with each step. They set the basket down next to the small opening in a very small dirt mound. Garwhisker had already decided the moment they saw the camp that they would have to definitely widen the openings in the dens.

They dragged the basket in, and began tearing at the dirt, making the hole a bit bigger. That was better. Now, to put the herbs in the herb storage. A brand new start to a legacy of a Clan that would last as long as time...

“ The silver tabby and the black warrior looked like an intimidating pair, Mistlepaw thought, watching Sagestar and Sootstorm with wide eyes. It was fortunate that they were Caveclan members, because Mistlepaw would not want to face the two of them in battle. As it was, Pinyonclan’s leader and deputy were studying the two apprentices, their mint and gold eyes flashing gravely. Mistlepaw and Flynn exchanged glances, the former more nervous while Flynn practically beamed with confidence. It felt as if they had been sitting there for ages, waiting. The mentors had gathered their apprentices soon after the sun had set, after the clan had settled down to share prey and talk. The clan sent glances towards the group, full of curiosity, worry, and excitement for the apprentices, occasionally offering encouragement and advice for the pair who were about to undertake what seemed to be the most important event of their young lives. As the moon began to rise, Sagestar stood, mewing quietly, “It’s time.” The four begin to head towards the camp entrance, joined by a solemn Fadedmoth who would come along in case of emergency. “Wait for us!” A flurry of dirt and dust flared up as the kits raced up, barely stopping themselves from bumping into the group. Owlkit gave a small hiss of complaint when Condorkit tumbled into her side but stopped as Pearkit caught up, the younger kit having followed behind her older denmates more carefully. “We want to go too!” Peregrinekit demanded. “Let us be warriors too!” Owlkit widened her eyes hopefully, nudging Pearkit with a paw to get the younger kit to follow her behavior. The younger ragdoll seemed to watch curiously, somewhat confused, perhaps, but copying Owlkit’s behavior with ease. The medicine cat narrowed her eyes as she watched, frowning. The clan’s youngest kit had always seemed quieter than the rest of her denmates but Blueberry had quietly taken Fadedmoth aside to tell her that he was worried about his kit, explaining how she seemed to struggle to hear unless spoken to loudly enough and that Frostflower had to visually guide her when interacting with the kit. Fadedmoth suspected that there was something wrong with the kit’s hearing but Frostflower hovered so protectively over the kit, that Fadedmoth hadn't been able to examine the kit yet. Blueberry had thought she was too scared that something terrible was going on to properly handle the issue. All Fadedmoth had done so far was observe but the gray and white molly had decided that an examination would be necessary, but with the preparation for the apprentices assessment’s, Pearkit’s examination would have to wait. “Their assessments will be dangerous.” Sootstorm warned gently. “Kits can’t leave the camp until their apprentice. There are too many predators to risk untrained kits wandering about.” Sagestar told them firmly, adding. “It won’t be long until your apprentices. Mistlepaw and Flynn can tell you about it when we’re back.” The kits exchanged glances, somewhat disappointed but Peregrinekit’s eyes were gleaming at the prospect of a good story. “Pearkit!” The sharp hiss got the attention of all the cats, even Pearkit, who had been studying the night sky curiously. Frostflower was quick to approach, wrapping her tail around her kit with a wary look at Fadedmoth, who gazed back evenly. “It’s far past all of your bedtimes,” Frostflower scolded the kits, “Back to the den.” As the queen guided the kits back towards the nursery, Flynn grinned and called, “When we get back, we’ll be warriors and we’ll get to tell you everything!” As the group headed into the clan’s territory, they could hear the excited chatter of the kits being gently hushed by Rookflower and Frostflower. Sagestar and Sootstorm led the group to an area far enough from the camp that the mews and chatter of their clanmates could not be heard and stood in front of the canyon walls. Mistlepaw tilted her head up, taking in the stiff rocky canyon wall apprehensively. It looked as if the rocky walls went on forever, reaching the heights of Starclan themselves. With a deep breath, the molly steeled herself. Sootstorm had been the best mentor she could have asked for and he’d trained her well. Mistlepaw forced herself to study the canyon walls more carefully, picking out ledges among the canyon walls that she and Flynn could use to rest or propel themselves further up. The vegetation that grew in the canyon walls wasn’t large or strong enough to help them along but it could provide enough cover in case of owls or the uncommon chance of encountering a mountain lion. Sagestar gazed over the two apprentices solemnly. “Our first apprentices to attempt their assessments.” She said, “Sootstorm and I have given you extensive preparations and practice and we know you are ready.” Sootstorm stepped up now, blinking warmly at them. “I know you can do this.” The deputy said, looking into the eyes of both Mistlepaw and Flynn. “I’m so proud of you both. We’ve come a long way since we’ve joined the clan.” Sagestar nodded in agreement, her solemn expression fading into fondness for the pair. “We’ll be waiting for you here when you return. Now, are you ready?” Flynn nodded confidently, his tail lashing eagerly. The ginger tom had no fear of climbing the canyon and never had. Mistlepaw took another deep breath as she met Sootstorm’s gaze, taking comfort in her mentor’s calm confidence in her. “I’m ready.” Sagestar and Sootstorm stepped back to stand with Fadedmoth, who had set up an area of emergency herbs if needed. They watched as the pair exchanged glances and began the climb. “They’ll make it,” Fadedmoth assured the nervous pair. “They’ll be warriors by sunrise.”

WEATHER !!

NEWLEAF || The sun begins to peek through the leaves as the dark and heavy clouds of Leafbare roll away. Birds begin to trill earlier in the morning, and the hibernating rodents stir from their slumber as they seek out meals to fill their aching bellies. Prey will be easier to catch, and kittings will grow easier on mothers. Cats are less desperate for homes and will be friendlier to patrols. However, with warmer weather comes more danger. Predators are no longer hungry and vicious, but they have full bellies and growing muscle. They lay unseen, waiting to attack. Twolegs sightings grow more common as well, though cats do not know why the strange creatures seem to prefer warmer weather.

northclan. where only the strong survive. these strong, hardened felines live as far north as you can go… the north. they welcome all, and due to the nature of the area which they live within ( the mountains ) every paw is put to good use, for the well-being and prosperity of the clan. but make no mistake. these felines are not soft, but hardened by winter and the cold winds of the north. led by their ferocious and extremely respected commander, they are the wardens of the north, their home, and they guard and protect it, and each other, fearlessly. cowards are not tolerated here… only the strong and the brave.

the territories are in full bloom during the hottest time of the year. prey is bountiful during
this time of the year, and herbs can be found in abundance. kittings will be handled smoothly,
and cats are still around who might be in need of a new home. however, predators are also
fond of the warm weather, and cats who overwork themselves may find themselves suffering
from dehydration and exhaustion.

second batch of apprentices just dropped! broomlift spends a long time making sure they look perfect, but daisykit's fur is so spikey it's just futile. but she gets a little self-conscious because her sister looks so pretty and her brother is so confident. she has a little panic episode before the ceremony, but pumpkinseed pulls her aside and therapies her. she says that her siblings are so cool and she feels like she's just average. juniper is beautiful and mature and wants to be a mother and sap's really strong and friendly and wants to be a bodyguard. she's just. normal. pollenkit is her only and bestest friend and she feels like she doesn't have many outstanding qualities. pumpkinseed just shakes his head and tells her she's dumb for thinking that. he tells her that she's just as amazing as her siblings, she just hasn't found her thing yet, and that's okay. he didn't know he wanted to be a medicine cat until like. a year ago when he joined the clan. he gives her a little daisy flower to put behind her ear and tells her she's beautiful. it makes her feel a lot better. then, out of nowhere, she asks if she can be pumpkinseed's apprentice. he's low-key taken aback, but soon smiles and nods. he can tell this is something she's suited for as daisy often wandered into the medicine den to help him sort some herbs. he agrees to be her mentor and goes to tell wolverinestar. she gives him a hug and says thank u uncle pumpkinseed and trots over to wolverinestar, super excited to see where she goes in life.

littlepaw is going on her own adventure. she's literally shaking in her boots BCS it's newleaf so there are a lot of predators out and about. she's also afraid of skunks and doesn't want to come across one. not to mention she's also woozy around heights and is NOT looking forward to jumping off a cliff just for a pebble. the night before, rockroll visits her and shows her the pebble that she fetched during her own assessment. hers is so far the only pebble in the "pile" and tells littlepaw that it needs a friend. littlepaw scoffs and complains that the warriors that join don't even have to complete the assessment. why does she have to? rockroll agrees it's a little stupid, but she knows that littlepaw will do great. rockroll snuggles up and they spend the night cuddling. the next morning, rockroll licks littlepaw's forehead and tells her to come back alive, because there's a very important question that needs to be asked. littlepaw's heart jumps into her throat because she knows exactly what it means. wolverinestar blesses her and littlepaw leaves for her moon in the wilderness, hoping to come back and receive her warrior name of littlefang.

wolverinestar doesn't care, she needs to tell hailthroat how she feels. the ancestors warn her that her kits will grow up in a time of turmoil, but she tells them to shut up BCS life is turmoil. after he comes back from herb hunting, it's sunset. how romantic. wolverine tells him she needs to talk to him and pumpkin says he can sort herbs by himself and tells hail to go. the two walk side by side up to their special ledge where they go to watch the sunrise when they can't sleep. as they watch the sun set, wolverine doesn't know how to start. she's pretty awkward and isn't good with words, but hail knows her so well that he talks for her. he says that he admires her so much. she's beautiful, ambitious and is such a great leader. he doesn't know where he would be without her generosity. and he loves her. wolverine starts crying, something she hasn't done for years. hail cuddles next to her and soothes her. wolverine spills her heart to him. he's the best tom she's ever met and he's so kind. he does everything with his entire heart and she wants to be cemented into his life forever. he gives a shaky smile and holds back tears as he tells her she's been cemented into his heart ever since he laid eyes on her. they nuzzle and purr and become mates. they return to camp with their tails intertwined and hailthroat moves his nest into the leader's den and weaves it into wolverinestar's. everyone is like. finally omg they've been insufferable with their pinning. and then they realize that they're like. one of three mated pairs so they shut up LOL.
