agree and disagree, i feel like it would be unfair to the users to have their name taken, but at the same time, theres so many usernames i want that are sitting on inactive accounts
i feel like this is kind of an easy fix though. add a period or something to the end of the old account's username, and if they ever log in again they can just revert back to the original. i don't know how often these old accounts come back, but i can't imagine it would happen so often it would be annoying to deal with, especially because there's really not THAT many people who play cs.

I myself had completely forgotten this site existed, and was gone for quite a few years. The joy I felt when I realized what this site was, and coming back to it, was akin to childhood wonder. Even if those members don't come back, what if they do? Could you imagine coming back to a site you spent hours upon hours on, collecting rare pets and animals, just to log in and notice all your pets are gone, or you account just doesn't exist anymore?
I feel like maybe, CS should have more re-release days? Maybe once every couple years some rarer pets get re-released? I know there's no chance that I'll ever be able to get the sitting warrior cats, but I think it'd be nice to see some rarer pets make a return in the form of, perhaps, a virtual "grab bag"? You adopt 2 and get 2 random, rare, older pets?
Actually that could be great! Increasing the rereleased pets and items a fair and healthy amount could be a nice boost that could also help to bring down the inflation of pets and items trade costs. Obviously nothing extravagant like 10 old pets a month, just something small to help give new and old players alike a better chance for something they want.
If its specific pets that are re-released however, it could be a problem. I used to play animal jam as a kid and they re-released old rare items and everyone was really upset cause people spent a long time getting those only for the value to drop to 0 in an instant. The only way for it to work out is if its completely random.
but isnt it an issue to view it as "low/high value"? instead of just "oh sick i always wanted this item"
people who traded everything to get a pet or an item know how painful it is, why would they want others to go tru the same thing?

They said they wouldn't do this because it would be too difficult to moderate, which is fair, but also kind sucks
i suppose i can see where that would come from but honestly? i really dont think its impossible. it of course is easy for players to dream big about ideas which are hard to implement, but i cant help but compare to places like discord? (kinda my only reference here but still)… servers seem to have no problem with moderation and yeah maybe more staff would be required or something, but a sectioned area for different chats with easier methods of reporting inappropriate behaviour than sending in a whole report seems fairly do-able to me? again im sure its more nuanced than that, but still!

The amount of re-releases given out each year has been steadily increasing. The problem is not with the quantity of re-releases, but the quality. If you got a handful of 2013 Easter rares and some 2015 candy squids I don't think you'd be as happy as getting 1 2008 OMG so rare.
It is still a super rare chance of getting a really valuable, really old pet on Dec 18th. Personally, I wouldn't mind if everyone was guaranteed a 2008 on Dec 18th, but the rarity and thus demand of those pets would probably go down (which I think is fine : the CS economy bubble needs to burst!)
Honestly, the idea of a second re-release in the year, I think would be a great start. They could even do a Christmas in July type concept. Have a special re-release like on Dec 18, then also a box or two of random Christmas/event pets of years passed or something I def thing the high demand of pets has been obnoxious. I've mainly been jumping on once a month just to get my adopts in. This event is the most active I've been since probably 2019. And I had a hard time then. It's even worse now.
That being said, I absolutely love Chicken Smoothie. I've accepted I'll probably not be able to get the pets I really want, but I do enjoy seeing what the artists come up with every month, and the GH/Staff litters are my favorite thing I look forward to.

in all honesty, i believe you should be a active member to keep the username. it’s like letting someone hoard something while they don’t even contribute to the site, let along even remember it in some cases. (not to be rude)

I don’t think inactive accounts should be deleted or the like, either username or pets, but their pets should be discounted from rarity listings. The calculator should pull from accounts that have been active within the last year so that we can get an actual idea as to how rare certain pets ACTUALLY are (there could be twenty in circulation for some of these istg). Pets with ridiculously low circulation should be weighted higher in mystery boxes so that more are added to the pool.

I agree the CS trade value on pets (and items) can be extreme on some of them! I don't even bother looking for older older pets. Esp store ones.
I don't have enough in CS tradables worth their value. Or off site currency to trade for them either.
Hey CS how about rereleasing some store pets?? And older items?Maybe something like a CS of playing the lotto to get an older item? Or older store pet? Sorry just had to throw that out there. And no one panic about losing your ability to not get a lot of pets.

Granted, it would be fun to have a CS version of Rounsey's Raffle, but gambling isn't the way to go; especially for premium currencies. Now, if CS store had a box you could buy that contain's 1 store pet and 1 purchase limit (Dec. 18th for store pets) that could be interesting.
It probably won't happen; The community is rather split on re-releasing store pets. In fact, I'm rather neutral on the subject in a way, I get where both sides are coming from!

I think a change to the pound would definitely make things a lot better in terms of accessibility to new players. As of right now, the pound has 849,438 pets. That's a lot of pets just sitting around that could go to new users that don't have any! One of the biggest problems (in my opinion) is the barrier between new players and old players, so I think making it easier to get pets from the pound could help, even if it turns out to just be a little bit of a change,

not to mention old players coming back after years are kinda treated poorly for not knowing the New rares and in-demand pets! i got a lot of flack for not offering the New Higher price value for some rares, which the year before would have been much less. it sucks that there's no way to get back into the swing and full scope of rares unless you are here, active, and knowing.
