4dopt is an adoptable site that's powered by user-generated content. As such, it's also great for people who have wanted to get into closed species but don't have the time to work with (as an adopter) or manage (as a species owner) complicated mechanics like breeding and customs by hand.

I actually host this species, the spripot, on the site!

I suppose it depends on how one defines a closed species--but people do host species similar to kalons and chicoons there with limited designs and adopts!

I suggest making a species that's available to everyone first to learn the system without accidentally distributing something you don't intend to.
