The silver furred she-wolf smiled and nodded, "I have no doubt you will." She said as she walked up to the top of a hill, overlooking a more open part of the forests, a large green meadow. "This is were you and I will be training now. First off, I want you to know what it means to be a spy." She turned towards him, ice blue gaze set on him. "The very title of 'Spy' speaks of stealth and cunning. Your mind must be sharp, able to react in a seconds notice." Her eyes held a look of seriousness, her tone strong. "You must be commited to learning every day, because even I have never stopped learned even after my years of being a Master."

Thane sat and took in every word spoken to him. He had herd of being a spy from his parents, so had heard this, only if different words. But now... It meant more to him. Not only was it not his parents teaching him, he being taught to help his pack.

Alanna saw the pup was listening to her, a good start, many pups had trouble listening on their first day as an apprentice. "So, with that said, we'll begin with the most basic, and most important skill a Spy has to offer. Silence. I'm going to be across the meadow, upwind of you so I will not beable to scent you. I want you to be able to sneak up on me without ever making a sound." She turned and motioned for him to look over the meadow. "To be sure you wont be heard, you must avoid fallen branches that will snap under your weight, dead grasses can also give your position away. Watch your footing, keep your balance, and control every step you take. Think you can manage?"

Thane nodded. Sure he wasn't just perfect at being quite, but he was okay. His parents had taught him little, but wonderfully. "I'll dp my best, Alanna."

"Then let's begin. Remember, mind sharp. Trust your instincts." She said before shooting down the hill towards the opposite end of the meadow. She ran so quickly that she caused a small gust of wind. She leapt over a fallen tree, silently landing on the other side before she jumped atop a boulder, sitting down as if she'd been running swiftly since she'd been born. She smiled, calmly setting her ears forward and waiting for the slightest noise that would give away Thane's position, though she was confident he could handle this despite him being so young.

Thane started his progress down the hill. He followed her scent, kept his paw steps light, easy to do because of high light weight, but it was slow going. He came to a fallen tree and sniffed it. Her scent! Looking up at the trunk he knew he couldn't get over it without making some type of noise, so he set about going around it. He voted for the end where the roots where, seeing as the other end held many dead branches. After walking down and around the roots he kept going forward. He spotted her on top a boulder a little bit away and kept walking, belly low to the ground. His belly was so low he brushed the grass a few time. This made him sigh mentally. Be more careful, Thane!

Alanna would have spoken when she heard Thane's belly disturb a patch of grass, but something else had caught her attention. She stood up, staring intently into the thin line of trees that led out into an open plain. There was movement on a far hillside, small silouetted figures against the sunlit hills. Perhaps some of the pack had been patrolling the boarders? No, they were to small to be wolves. When she saw them begining to run towards her, she spotted their distinctive sandy coats. "Coyotes." She growled. "Thane! Come here, now." She said as she leapt off the rock. She'd be spotted, but Thane had not, and she intended to keep it that way.

Thane looked up at his mentor's voice. He ran in the direction of her voice. He had at first thought that she had heard him rub the grass, but then he realized that her tone suggested trouble, so he ran for her.
