We have no clue what was actually going on behind the scenes or how much time they put into this site. I completly understand the frustration from both the mods and users and with the way this conversation is going we are going to learn nothing from the incident. I think this is an important point where we should really be working together and not just poining fingers.
lol i hope that makes sense
This is what I was trying to say in a way but I'm just terrible with words. So ^^

I worry if the site gets sold, it will be very monetized and won't be the same site we enjoy now, and may even lead to taking when the buyers realize it isn't performing the way they would like it to. I like the site the way it is, even if there are problems from time to time it is still regularly updated, and the pets are free except for the monthly shop pets.
I can tell that love and care goes into the site still, heck, they even still host events!

Strong agree!! I don't think we should jump to such conclusions, especially with something as big as a site with a big, active userbase. Staff could have handled things better, and made do with better communication, but selling the entire site? Also, I feel as if someone/a company running the site other than Nick, Tess, or some of our older staff members wouldn't have as strong of a bond with Chicken Smoothie as they do.. so the site may change for the worst. I could be wrong, or have worded things better but I honestly don't agree with selling the site.

As we're seeing a lot of people not in support of selling the site, there is a
more coders suggestion that was unearthed from 2020 for these past couple of days. if you look through the entire thread, it goes through a log of the pros and cons of hiring more coders/taking on volunteers, and some solutions were presented there as well. since this gets a lot more traffic due to the name catching attention, we would suggest participating in that thread as well.
also was way chiller than the thread that had a name similar to this one and had a lot of unheated discussion amongst users.

No support, and here is why.
This site has always been super diligent about following rules and combatting situations such as this. Just because one person slipped through the cracks and caused a scene doesn't mean everything else means zilch. For the users who have been around for a while, we first joined when we were kids and now that we are adults, we don't have as much time to be on CS. Now put it in the perspective of Nick, Tess, and all the other staff. Are they expected to make the time aside from their lives as adults on the dot more than we are? And not just to answer trades or whatever but code complete updates at our beck and call? No. That's ridiculous. I have full faith the Nick is aware of what is going on and will be back to us with an update in due time. I agree that hiring another coder would take the load off and putting in two-factor authentication would help with security. That might be the solution to prevent stuff like this in the future. But there will always be those people who will try to make double accounts, scam, etc. We should be mad at the people who break the rules.. not make them.
On another note, it is not like CS scammed people out of their money. Those trades that were reversed were from a recent bracket of time. There was no trades that defied today's value that were reversed. Those trades made with C$ did put some people in the negative... but they got their pet(s) back. Even though it is disappointing, nobody was truly scammed except for the artists, but it was said by staff that it would be appropriately handled. Whether that be generating C$/creating pets. At the end of the day, it is not the staff's responsibility to play our parents. People should be blaming the user who scammed them... I am not trying to downplay people's experience, but the above suggestion to sell the site is ridiculous if it is based on this current situation.

I actually agree with this, having open dialog with the team was important but it seems that has now been had to the degree that it is going to be had for the time being. I'm glad this one got a response out of mods but the actual core thread behind this isn't a constructive solution and I'm sure most people do feel the same. Constructive improvements should be offered on other threads that are less harsh.

I understand not wanting to actually SELL the site.
But focusing on this ONE point and allowing yourself to IGNORE other peoples ideas is short sighted and clearly not constructive for this thread.
If sold, it's not like Nick and Tess with just sell them to anyone. If they make that choice, they're clearly going to sell to someone/some entity that they trust. Have some faith in that if not anything else.
I do like and enjoy the homey feel this site has.
But when things like 6/28 happen and it's clear that staff need more support, it's imperative that the userbase expresses it support. Even if it's threads like this, there are good ideas everywhere.
Not to be mean or to point fingers, but I feel like some people are missing the point here.

This! I really really hoped that the takeaway from all this would be to engage the userbase more so as to allow us to provide better support to potential changes (and a more aware response to potential issues) but it doesn't seem like it's going that way which is really a shame.
You want us to hear you properly, so give us a chance to! We can't if you won't hear us first.

I agree that the staff could use extra support. Nick shouldn't have to be a one man band on the coding front. Two-factor authentication should be instilled and maybe an email should be sent out for all of us to create stronger passwords. (Nick has come back and said that this issue was caused by a breach in another site.. it isn't CS's security that is completely at fault. We should have made stronger or different passwords) To me, this thread feels like pointing fingers and I am offended for the staff. This is a great site and there are a lot of other threads in support of additional security. So to wrap this up, there is no point to discuss issues in improvement here, on this thread. As the title reads, that isn't the point. This just feels drastic. Again, to clarify, I am not trying to downplay people's feelings on the situation. It is just my opinion.
