I suggest restoring the original balance before the reversal. So if a user had C$100, instead of C$0, they have C$100 back.
The 'the person in debt has their original pets/items back so it's fine' excuse is NOT acceptable. The real life $$ equivalent of C$4000 is insane, especially in today's economy.

Because a user being in debt due to a circumstance that's not their own fault is fair /s
I do not mind/care at all if users in debt got this "unfair benefit", it's only right to fix this. Imagine not being able to buy anything from the store, pay for adopts, anything.. And selling those pets again would only slowly bring their debt to 0, so still losing out even more.

Please don't be rude. Nobody but the admins has any control or knowledge about what's going on, and I'm just trying to clear up misinformation and explain why it isn't as easy as simply generating hundreds of C$. I understand the frustration but even if that were the fix-all solution, I don't have the power to do it.

In that vein I'm seeing a couple of posts again that are implying artists might be put out of payment - this is not true, if you had an art/adopt payment reversed please send in a ticket.

I don't see that as being rude. Merely pointing out the irony of it all. [adding a tone tag! /gen]

I agree with this reasoning. I don't think pardoning C$ debt would really solve the core issue. Negative C$ does, however, put the affected user at a disadvantage to someone who lost pets, since as I understand it they can't buy anything with C$ until they remove the debt. On this basis, I am not entirely opposed to this suggestion, but I do not support it either. The optimal solution is that the hacked things need to be duplicated, not reverse-traded.

Not trying to be rude but maybe if the Admins would, I don't know, tell us exactly what's going on. A simple front-page post that clears up any misconceptions about what's going on would make any misunderstandings clear to everyone.

Oopsies! I quit :(

Pardon C$ Debt

Postby lyney » Mon Jul 03, 2023 12:36 pm

absolutely support this!! while i get that there is a fine line between the users being affected, nobody on cs could have predicted the gravity of the situation. none of us knew that the site was going to take a major downfall. yet it almost feels like us as the userbase took the fall for something that is beyond our control. how were we to know that trades were going to be reversed before spending the c$? c$ that had been rightfully received under the impression that it was going to be a permanent and untouched exchange, so for it to be turned underneath us and be the fault of the user? i just dont quite understand the logic behind it.

but, regardless, i feel that this is a special condition that needs to be excused. we are not "exploiting" the system. how could we be taking advantage of a system that we couldn't have predicted? and while i know we are already trying to take c$ out of the economy, i think that an exception could be made because this is unlike anything weve had so far. i agree with a previous commenter that perhaps duplicating c$ may be a good course of action.

tldr: excusing c$ debt is frowned on because it is a form of "exploitation", but this was none of our faults. we are still in the dark about a lot of things going on. this is the least that can be done.

Agree with kreideprinnz, we could have NEVER expected all of this. To say that we only want pets to be duplicated and for c$ balances to be regenerated because we only want to exploit the system is rude if anything.
We were all unknowing victims to this and we don't deserve to be punished in this way. [/gen]

looking at it tho, c$ is already incredibly inflated as it is, and i acknowledge that you guys have added more frequent store sets to eliminate this problem but there’s still a huge inflation. i don’t personally see the harm in adding a few more c$ into the circle if we are concerned about inflating
