this is a great guide! especially seeing as internet safety isn't as prominent as it used to be and cs's target audience is children & young adults, but if i may amend:

• remove any cs-related extensions (such as cs-helper and the one that bumps topics for you). it seems to be older accounts that have already quietly quit that are being affected, and there's no proof of either of these being compromised, however if you're worried about your account it's an extra precaution until there are security updates.


• on that note, remove any extensions you no longer use. they may have been approved and safe when you added them, but that doesn't mean they are still! if you're not using them there's no need to add that extra risk./
• check your email on this website. you can see what sites you've signed up for that have had data breaches, and you'll know where to change your password(s), especially if it's one shared between that site and cs! it will list breaches that occurred before you signed up, so make sure to check the date listed.


• if you've lost access to the email you currently use for your cs account, send in a ticket. most sites will change your email for you if you can provide enough information proving you own the account.


• if you're like me and you suck at coming up with passwords, google can generate one for you and will save it to your account so you don't have to worry about remembering that mish-mash. or if you're using something other than chrome, you can use this website. you'll have to save it somewhere yourself though.


• write down your passwords in a book. all your emails and usernames associated with the account, too. look, i love google's saved passwords feature as much as anyone else but if you lose the account you lose everything else too. and you won't be able to recover them. don't share this book with anyone.

for all the artists on this site, myself and bark have put together some art theft related guides too. they're both old so i'm sure there's new things that could be added and parts to be edited, but they're something if you need someplace to start.
