Nestled in one of the quieter towns is a hidden gem of a place, a bakery renowned for their sweet treats and delicious drinks! The Goobie Cafe has gotten a lot of attention lately, as recently one of their hot cocoa drinks recently went viral. As a result, they had to bring in a new hire. Barry found himself looking at the others, swallowing hard.

"I er... you want me to make sweets?" He asks, ears twitching back. "I thought ya needed a cook..."

"Well we do!"

"But... sweets are made by bakers and-" Cocoa patted his shoulder, smiling warmly.

"Oh that's just nerves talking! You'll be fine!" He sighed out, and set to work. And while it was quickly discovered he COULD make sweets, they were... basic. No excitement, no life. It was enough to be a base, but not much else. Meyer came up to him then, looking up at him.

"Why not... make something you enjoy?" she asks, her voice gentle.

"But what if... what if goobies don't like what I enjoy? And food is a reflection of ourselves and-"

"Then let us experiment, together," she said. "I know of a few goobies that can help out, too. Together, let's show the world who you really are Barry. Because..." She paused, as the first customers started coming in. He watched as she waved, a soft glow in his cheeks. Who he really was huh...?

Welcome to the 'A Barry Sweet Journey' thread! Here every day a new prompt will be posted. With these prompts, they can be answered with writing or with art! Whether you like to write in first or third person is up to you! There is no minimum or maximum here, the focus is on fun, but those who put more effort in will be rewarded for that as well! Think Judge's Favorite! While new prompts will be posted every day, the deadline for each prompt is at MIDNIGHT EST. That being said I do work late, so new prompts may be delayed depending.

🍓 A reminder that the more effort put in, the higher the prize! In example, a npc sketch will likely grant 2, clean inks 3, and a scene or multiple npcs 4! Same goes for the participation gookies!
🍓If you pick to answer your writing prompt with a partner, both entries will receive a bonus!
🍓For art, if any of the characters from the booth are included you will receive an additional prize!
🍓Partners are allowed to split if one wants to do art, and one writing!
🍓Any of my chars can be drawn as anthro, not just feral! Whatever you'd like to do, go for it!
🍓Please remember that your own personal lore can of course be different than what is presented here! But you are more than welcome to incorporate these ideas into your own goobies as well!

Barry was hard at work, trying his best to make well, anything. Reading the recipes, taking things step by step. "If I go by the book," he could be heard saying, "Surely I can make this work!" As Meyer herded the group of goobie volunteers she had managed to gather towards the kitchen, they came just in time to see him pull out a batch of gookies.

"Oh! Oh welcome to The Goobie Cafe!" He greets. He is dressed in the cafe's signature attire, pink, white, and gold apron with ribbons and a bit of lace. "I just made some gookies, would you like to try them out?" He looks at all of the gathered, hopeful. Meyer picks up a gookie, before handing out the rest for the group to share.

"Barry these goobies want to help us make the best treats! What don't you all introduce yourselves?" Barry smiled brightly.

"And let me know how are the gookies are as you do!"

Meyer has rounded up all of the willing goobies she could find to help Barry bake the best treats! First step first though, introductions! And maybe trying a gookie. Word of warning though, the gookies they tried were... okay. By the book. Not... great. Do they break it to him gently, ignore it... or try a different tactic altogether?

Upon hearing about the bakery needing cookie testers, Failsafe deviated from his normal route and leaped down the building heading up cautiously humming softly as he wandered up to the bakery curious and never one to turn down the offer of free food during a patrol.

He slid into the crowd and watched quietly as they got handed the cookies to try waiting for his turn patiently and smiling chirping a loud 'thanks' and slipping back out of the crowd.

He shot back up the side of a building and munched on the cookie humming it was lovely on the fried tastebuds of the tired vigilante and he made a note in his head to go back to gain more once his patrol was over.

Longboi was something of a connoisseur when it came to the finer delicacies in life, and so when he was asked to volunteer at a bakery to help perfect their gookie recipe, how could he possibly refuse? While he had no desire to monetise his love of food or baking, this volunteer work would allow him to help others while doing something he enjoyed. To meet others who were passionate about it excited him even more, and he walked inside of the bakery, eyes sparkling with excitement.

It wasn't long before he was presented with a gookie, one that Longboi assumed was from the first batch judging by the looks of it. He took it into his paw, tilting it back and forth to study the way it shimmered in the ambient light of the kitchen. Then, he took a bite.

Longboi was thankful that his face was incapable of being overly expressive, otherwise he could have very easily given away his dissatisfaction with the gookie."...hm." It was all he could say before he gathered his thoughts to add, "What recipe did you use, Barry? I think your gookies might benefit from some modifications to it."

Hop eagerly grabs a handful of gookies and shoves them into his mouth. "Verr' gwate!" He mumbles through the mouthful of crumbs.

"I'm Hop! I love wearing my frog hat, catching trains, and rainy days! Especially when all three are combined together!" The small goobie looked up at Barry and Meyer. "Thank you for the gookies! They're really tasty. I'd love to learn how to make some too!"

Caly was taking his regular morning stroll and recognizes the familiar bakery famous for their viral hot cocoa. He was hungry at that time and craving something sweet to drink, it was perfect timing! He entered the bakery wanting to order something. He catches everyone doing their introductions and saw that they got Barry to be part of the team.

Heya! I'm Caly and.. oh gosh is that a brownie? and a gookie? I mean they all look like pastries but they are quite.. dull.. I do art in my free time and visual appeal is my ordeal! If you're looking for someone to help you out with presentation, I would be more than happy to join the team! But first, can I get one blueberry muffin and a strawberry late?

Cameron approaches Barry with a big grin. He bows with a flourish, "Hello!" He declares, the cat ears on his hat bobbing forward as he does, "I'm here to help! I'm not a baker... but I do have a refined sweet tooth, so I hope I can help at least a bit!" Cameron beams, and follows along for the gookie taste testing. They aren't the best. They're certainly gookies, but they're nothing to write home about. Cameron breaks the news politely, "I think you might need a little more sugar in these? They're tasty, but a little on the salty side. Perhaps more time in the oven could also help... They're a very solid gookie though! Just might benefit from a few little touches, then they can go from good gookies to great ones! I believe in you!"

Mayhem trots excitedly up to Barry.
Surely gookies baked by hired cooks will be great! xe thinks as xe takes a gookie. Xe breaks the cookie in multiple pieces for xes duckies and chomps down on xes own.
Oh... oh no. Mayhem shudders a little. There's no detectable sugar in here, and the vanilla is overwhelming! What is up with these gookies??
Xe takes the duckies' pieces and brings them back over to Barry, who looks at xe in confusion.
"Hey," xe begins, "these might need more sugar... like a lot. And less vanilla. Here, try them yourself so you can see."

Entry: Maur walked into the bakery, with Gerald on their back. The two had heard that a new goobie was joining the team, and wanted to see! There was already alot of goobs in the bakery, since the new guy had just made some gookies. Maur shuffled towards where the gookies where and picked one up. Before tasting the.. sadly not so appetising treat, Maur greeted the baker. «Hello! i am Maur, and this is Gerald!» They pointed to gerald, smiling on their back. «Anyways.. you're Barry right? Welcome to the bakery!» Maur hadn't been here alot of times, but when they did, all the workers where great and the food was amazing! Seeing all the other goobies wanting to chat with Barry, Maur nodded a little goodbye to him and walked to a table, putting Gerald in one stair and themsleves sitting in the other. They stared at gookie, taking a peice and giving it Gerald. They didnt start eating it, instead wondering how it'll taste.. ,Its okay.. if its not well i can just say what needs fixing!, They then took a bite. It tasted fine, not amazing or something, but a fine gookie. They thought about saying it to barry, but other goobies would have prob told him that. Maur just sat down, taking small chomps from the gookie.
