this line comes after defeating the beast, or the "final" boss of the game. the narrator explains how isaac has defeated the beast, and is now reliving his past, seeing his mother and father happy again, seeing his best friend, his cat guppy, alive and well again. he sees his own birth, and is happy one last time before he passes away. he then delivers the above line. the narrator was isaac's dad the whole time, helping isaac write these stories (your play in the basement) as a way to deal with his trauma.

"Okay, so... Isaac and his parents lived in a small house, on the top of a hill..."

the intro of the game starts with "isaac and his mother". this is the very last piece of dialogue for the ending.

long post ahead.

rn it's elden ring. mostly, i'm obsessed with the lore. i wished the game was a little easier so i could focus on that instead of smashing my controller against the desk everytime i die a stupid death. or i wish they'd just come out with books so i could read all about it.
i'm on my first playthru and i apparently messed up a bunch of side-quests by advancing too far in the game without exploring. so i'm trying to beat my last few bosses (maliketh, godfrey, radagon/eldenbeast) (links are just pictures) so i can just start a NG+1 and experience it properly this time. i accidentally killed yura who's rlly cool, killed blackguard, patches, didn't find goldmask in time... this all sounds like gibberish i'm sure xd.
anyways in my NG+1 i want to go for an incantation faith+arcane build (i'm mostly strength/dexterity build this go-around). i'm down to blast crazy spells and keep my distance next time, as much as swinging around guts' sword for thousands of dmg is loads of fun.
it's such a good game and i'm mad i started it just before Tears of the Kingdom came out because i'm so obsessed with it, i'll probably start TOTK after this summer ngl ^^'''
