Smokepaw

Smokepaw sighed and stood up. He spotted Shadowtail grooming by the warriors' den, and trotted over to her. "Shadowtail?" He asked patiently. "May I go hunting?" He sat down and dipped his head to the deputy. His tail flicked, and he hoped she would let him go.

Shadowtail thought for a minute, then nodded "yes" she said "But I am comming with you" she said sternly.

Smokepaw

He nodded. "Alright." Smokepaw turned and padded out of camp, hearing his mentor behind him. He soon halted beside a large oak tree, deciding to start hunting here.

Shadowtail watched the young apprentice to see if he needed to improve on anything.

Smokepaw

Smokepaw scented, padding forwards. He smelled mouse and sparrow, and headed towards the rodent. He saw it, searching among the dried leaves, and Smokepaw crouched. He inched fowards, being silent. He knew Shadowtail was watching him, and this made him nervous. Determined not to mess up, Smokepaw leaped. He pinned the mouse down, cutting off its shrill cry, and bit its throat. Feeling satisfied, he covered it with dirt and turned ot look expectantly at Shadowtail.

"Very good" Shadowtail praised the apprentice.

Smokepaw

Smokepaw smiled a small smile, waggling his tail. "I'm going to go look for more." He told his mentor. He then spun around and jumped over some ferns, deeper into the forest.

Shadowtail nodded "Alright" she said she followed slowly after her apprentice and wondered how her brother was doing.

Smokepaw

Smokepaw padded on, scenting the air. He soon had caught a pigeon and a vole, and was tracking a squirrel. As he killed the rodent, his limbs began to tire. Being a young apprentice, he was exhausted from hunting. He started to head back, uncovering his prey as he went.

Pondmist

Pondmist sniffed a clump of tansy, making sure it was in good condition. She plucked a few stalks, and padded forwards. Her nose full of the scent of herbs, she didn't notice Shadowtail ahead. Pondmist pushed through a bush and halted, nearly nose to nose with the deputy. "Oh, sorry Shadowtail." Pondmist mewed, words muffled by the tansy. She smiled apologetically.

Shadowtail smiled "No problem" she looked around "Did you see Smokepaw come this way?" she asked

Pondmist

She shook her head, a few tansy leaves falling to the ground. "No." She meowed. "What, did you loose him?" She purred playfully. Her pale purple eyes twinkled.

Smokepaw

Smokepaw had collected all his prey except for the mouse. He padded awkwardly along, trying not to drop anything. He finally reached the spot, and dug up the mouse. He turned and headed back to camp, hoping Shadowtail would follow his scent.
