history Nao was born to loving parents and
an older brother in the Ghalis valleys. His
father was a little-known herald, and died
while serving the elemental god - Nao
never did get the specifics. Growing up,
Nao idolized his father, but was starkly
contrasted by his brother, Hideaki, who
refused to discuss the man. As children the
two were inseparable, and it was no
surprise that despite their two year age
gap their powers manifested roughly at the
same time. Together they were brought to
the high temple of Ghalis, but it soon
became apparent that Hideaki was
different than the other children. Nao
refuses to talk about the night his brother
fled from the temple, leaving him behind,
but one day he was there and the next he
was gone. Still, Nao stayed in the temple
and trained relentlessly - he was the
hardest worker in his group of trainees and
rose through the ranks quickly. He
was well liked by his peers, and he always
took the time to personally help anyone
struggling. He himself struggled to sit still
and study, but his capacity as an
elemental wielder overshadowed his less
then academic nature. He became a
Herald at a young age, and was paired
with an odd group of Heralds from the
other regions. During this time Nao
thrived - he traveled all over Aster
and met new people and saw firsthand
the beauty of their kingdom. And then
came the attack. Like when his brother
left, Nao doesn’t talk about the attack,
but in the end his squad was gone and a
village lay in ruins. More determined
than ever to preserve life and the peace
the gods gave the kingdom, Nao
responded as always - he threw himself
into helping others, and endlessly pursued
a kinder world. His work eventually caught
the attention of Ghalis, and he was tasked
with a vital mission that he accepted
readily,determined not to let any other lives
be put at risk.

appearance Nao is a slender 5'11, lacking the bulk of many other
Heralds. What his build lacks in inherent strength, it makes up for
with speed and flexibility. His sun-kissed hair is cut shorter than
most wear it in Ghalis, and his eyes are the color of sky - and are
just as warm when they light up, constantly observing the world
around him with unrelenting wonder and care. Nao is in perpetual
motion with limbs that he hasn’t quite grown into, and they add to
his animated expressions, changing with each passing emotion. His
lips are usually curved in a good natured-smile, and if he ever
bothered to wash his face a light smattering of freckles could be
seen scattered across his nose - proof of days under open skies.

warm as sunshine. Making friends
comes as easily as breathing to
him, and while he’s quick to make
them laugh, he’s even quicker to
make someone feel seen.
Kindness is the very core of being,
a deep care for those around him
driving every action. Yet, for all his
thoughtfulness, Nao is like a toy
wound up a couple times too
many- full of energy at any hour
of the day, every second edging
closer to something less playful
and more frenetic. Nao firmly
believes in the goodness of
others, and constantly looks to
bring out the best in any who
crosses his path, a trait that has
gotten him into trouble more than
once. To someone who makes
quick judgments this belief in
others might seem naive, but
Nao has seen more than most
and still remains firm in his
convictions. Nao is incredibly slow
to anger in matters concerning
himself - and in this regard seems
to have endless amounts of
patience - but he’s quick to step in
and defend others. He simply
can’t stand bullying of any form,
and would do anything to help
someone in need, regardless of
any risk to himself.

Backstory
Perhaps, Zev was born angry. Or perhaps it was an emotion learnedXX
as he grew up in Terris. His mother was a maid, and officially,XXX
Zev doesn't know who his father is. But the resemblance between him
and the master of the house were his mother worked was evident,
Both to him and to the other children who where less than kind about
it. He learned to solve problems with his fists, and soon enough with
the buzz of power always just under the surface of his skin. When the
Heretic Temple came calling for that power, it was not a hard choice to
make.

Personality
Zev loves nothing more than the power he's inherited. Lightning on his
skin and the rumble of thunder in his chest make up the very fiber of
his being. But with that power comes a volatile temper hidden under
a mockingly cool exterior. Zev seeks adrenaline wherever he can find
it, having little concern for himself. Though all of this being said, the
few he finds worthy of his trust receive unyielding loyalty and support.
Though first and foremost his loyalty is to the goddess. As she freed him
by giving him power, he seeks to free her above all else.

Maren's personality can definitely be blamed on the way she was raised. Nothing but perfection was
allowed in the Talia household. Her entire family for generations have lived in the north of the Aster
kingdom, and have worshiped Hydris. There haven't been many in the family born with Hydris' gift,
so when one of them does receive the power, they're immediately put upon an impossible pedestal.
While her family is hard on everyone, striving for their perfect image, they're especially hard on
Maren. Any outburst of anger or strong emotion was frowned upon, and Maren was constantly told
that as a servant of Hydris she should be calm, beautiful, etc. Like gentle rain or a calm river flow.
Maren has never felt she fit the image they demanded of her. Despite this, she forces herself to try,
holding down her true feelings as much as possible. She strives for perfection, and hates accepting
any less. Her training to become a true herald of Hydris was hard, but Maren never allowed herself
a break. She judges anyone that she thinks hasn't worked as hard as she has, denying her jealousy.
