I thought this was a fun idea to start!
Basically: cool coincidences, references to CS from popular figures, etc. Please no negative or controversial stuff, I meant wild as in "completely out of left field, but still cool" kinda way.

When I came back from my very long hiatus, I found out that the same Shima.Luan here later went on to feature in Planet Dolan. Yeah, the names are the same but I HAD to confirm it. I thought that was pretty wild! Small world, I guess.
The source is flimsy, I've verified it (though the asker's original post was deleted.) Thread where it was asked.

Now, just today, I found out that an MLP:FiM OC was first revealed on here, saying that their dad was an art director and that their pony would appear on the show soon. And it actually was true.

I wonder if there's any other similar moments, because so often we hear that Chicken Smoothie is an obscure website that nobody plays on. But My Little Pony is a huge franchise, and Planet Dolan had a loyal following of millions for a while.

I'm sure this doesn't fully count, but it was wild when it happened: The night the CS server crashed and erased an entire day's worth of data.

It happened all the way back in 2012, and I know this cause it was the day I had traded for my orange cerberus. The server's provider was in the middle of a huge, very bad thunderstorm. Like it was making the news; it was a nightmare of a storm. I think the provider had lost power, had a surge, and everything they had from that day was lost. Even now, I don't know if they got all the data back. They got some of it, that's all I remember.

Everyone got booted and sent to a page. Back then there was a page where when the site wasn't available, you could play a game to waste time, and all I remember was it wasn't the 404 page. This was in the days before CS had known social medias. So everyone was just waiting to see why we all got kicked off out of nowhere.

People who had done major trades that day were freaking out. Some didn't really care.

I have never heard of this, that truly IS wild. Honestly really interesting seeing stuff like that during/around CS's heyday. I wish it was easier to find stuff like this, maybe they had a thread on it idk. It would be cool seeing people's reactions once CS came back on.

For me I joined in 2012 I believe or something around that, and I think that every new animal is super fun! I have been lucky enough to see deer, draft horses, chameleons, moneys, otters, foxes, chickens and more be added! I just think that’s super cool

I remember the server outage! Week Without a Friday. I think I was actually on CS at the time of the crash, it just... vanished. Pretty wild, but we got some cool items out of it.

My other favorite is the December 18th when the re-releases were messed up due to fewer people adopting or something. We got a second re-release on the 21st to make up for it. I didn't get anything good either time, but still fun.

The little persona history moment for me happened after I gifted a user a store pet. A few weeks later I ended up adopting the exact same pet from the pound. No idea how that happened!

If I'm not mistaken, the premise of the 2017 Summer Event, The Lost City, was inspired by this. Here is the event image and text archive post, where you can see the dialogue for the event were it talks about "a server that fell into the ocean during a bad datastorm".

We followed mysterious co-ordinates printed on the back of a smoothie cup to this location. The lost pets seem to have survived and established a new society. Time to go 'sploring!
