other, willing to fight for his loved ones. Although Bash is wholeheartedly loyal towards his group, work loyalty
is different than personal connections. His tendency to keep to himself has put off the opportunity to form sev
eral tight-knit friendships, and yet, he has grown to be okay with that. In an infinite game of survival, where
everyone must expect the unexpected, Bash has learned the hard way that it’s tough creating deep relationshi
ps. To admire from afar is different than personal engagement — Bash is a lot softer and holds his relationships
a lot more dear than his outer persona may lead others to believe. Softness, however, does not ensure survival.

The Navarro family did not have luck on their side when the Flu came around. A Venezuelan family
recently immigrated into Canada, it was painfully true in admitting that they didn’t have the right
materials for such a disaster. His mother had been pregnant upon the time of the Flu’s arrival, and
was easily one of the first victims; both her & her unborn child lost the fight to the disease within
months. Bad luck seemed thrilled to linger, and when Bash was eleven, hopelessness took over his
father, who gave up his own battle and allowed the Flu to consume him. As if his family’s move to
a new country was a punishment, eldest brother Bash became the parental figure to his 4 younger
siblings. He was soon to realize that creating connections was a mistake; it seemed like everyone
Bash came into contact with fell to their deaths within weeks of knowing one another. This ultima
tely cast dark misery upon him, who was a solo survivor by the age of eighteen. Stumbling upon th
e settlement was what swept him back onto his feet; a sweet smile and soft touch sent by hope it
self opened him back up to the possibility of life. As someone who had been battling for survival si
nce young, it was no surprise that Bash had quite a few survival skills up his sleeve, which were so
on put to use on the farm.

At fifteen, Jetta's whole world turned upside down when the flu hit. She lived on a farm with her parents and two siblings, where she learned lessons that few kids were taught. Isolated from most people, they survived longer than the vast majority of the population, until those that were left focused on taking over other property. A band of red bandanas attempted to take the farm, but her family was ready, setting traps and preparing for the worst. While all but her father survived the first onslaught, the disease then reared its ugly head, taking out everyone but Jetta herself. Working alone, she rebuilt the farm, strengthening its security and inviting others in who would help it (and herself) thrive.

Synopsis: Before the world fell apart, Leon was a hard working young man doing his best for himself and his baby niece Violet whom he had custody of. He worked long hours of manual labor but didn't mind putting in the time if it meant putting food on the table. He'd always enjoyed working with his hands, whether that be carpentry, farming, or something similar. It calmed the restlessness in him.

And then the flu came. Violet was a sickly baby and was taken by the illness some years into her childhood. Leon drowned in grief for years upon years. Then some time back he came across the settlement he's come to call home in this new world. For a while, around these people who didn't know him, he could pretend to be fine. And eventually he got so good at pretending that he could even convince himself that he was fine. It is in this state that we find him now. Working the land and doing his part, smiling, and laughing along with others.

Brief Physical Description:Leon is a large, solidly built man broad at his shoulders. He has dark hair that over the years has become streaked with grey, mostly at his temples. Merle is definitely more of a show not tell type.....
of guy. He really only speaks when spoken to
and even then sometimes he chooses to ignore
rather than engage. He likes to stick to a very
strict schedule everyday and hates change, this
includes new people. He often sees the worst
in people, and tends on the pessimist side of
seeing things. He is extremely loyal once he
trusts someone though, willing to do whatever
it takes to protect whoever he considers "his
people."

Merle grew up on a farm not unlike the farmhouse in the settlement.
His father drilled a schedule into him from the moment he could work,
and Merle was stuck doing the same thing almost every day, constantly
getting scolded for every little thing. Once he turned eighteen, he had
had enough and left home. He never saw his father again, and spent a
few years travelling from place to place, never able to fit in exactly
due to the solidarity of growing up. Merle could hardly do anything else
and had no real clue how to survive in big cities or the like. He had a
really hard few years, living off whatever bits of money he could get
from terrible minimum wage jobs. Once the Flu hit and everything went
south, Merle survived by doing questionable selfish things, until a few
years later when he found the settlement and went back to what he knew.
Merle tries to stick to a consistent schedule, knowing it's what works......

History:
Jack's parents wanted him desperately to go to college so that he could have a chance at a strong career and more full life, in their words. They were loving parents that simply wanted what they thought was best for him. But Jack wasn't ever great at school, and their family wouldn't be able to afford it. Luckily he proved to be pretty good at sports. So his future plans was to aim for an athletic scholarship to get him into college. When the Flu hit, Jack found out how quickly people would turn on each other. Jack's parents were among the early deaths, leaving the fifteen year old boy on his own. People he knew as well as strangers would turn him away or outright attack him for seeking help in those days, so he had to learn to fend for himself and survive on his own.

His luck however would inevitably start running out. On the verge of starvation, Jack slipped onto a farm to steal some food. He hadn't grabbed much, two cans of beans. He'd seen the limited stores they had, and had spotted that they were a family living there before moving in. The teen simply wanted enough to get by, and not give anyone a reason to hunt him down. Fate had different plans however, as on his way out he stepped into a bear trap planted by the farm owners. Luckily for him they were merciful, and the family even offered him to stay while he healed from his wounded leg from the trap. Red Bandana's would descend on the farm before he was to leave, and Jack wasn't about to pay the only people who showed him an ounce of kindness in these dark days to fight by themselves. Still, he couldn't prevent the tragedy that followed.

Skip ahead many years later and he's the Patrol Leader to The Farmhouse and it's become a thriving little community in itself.

Personality:
Jackson's whole job revolves around keeping people safe, thus he's not so easily trusting of anyone he doesn't know. He's pretty straight forward, and isn't against speaking his mind. Can be a pretty stubborn jerk at times and patience isn't always his strong point either. He's been called overbearing a few times. But the Farmland's security and the protection of it's people is his first priority, the last thing he wants is another tragedy to unfold there. That being said Jack is still a person who cares for the people close to him, and will go out of his way to help them when he can. He will easily work himself to the bone, rather than pushing those under him. While he trusts the Patrollers that he leads, Jack is still very much a want it done right, do it yourself. kind of guy. Which sometimes can backfire on him.
