My english teacher does not believe that RPing is good writing practice. I very strongly disagree with this, it's just as much practice as writing a story, maybe even more because you have to work with how much info someone else gave you.
My rant:
My english teacher got mad at me for RPing (not during class btw) >.<

Role playing has improved my writing skills quite a bit.
Yesterday, I left a post up on Word {I use it for spell check c:} and my mother read it; it was a profile for a new character I'm fleshing out, and she didn't believe me when I said I wrote it. She said that I wasn't that good of a writer. c:

Really, the only way to improve your writing skills is to write a lot, and write well. I don't think it matters if you're RP'ing or writing a story by yourself; as long as you're writing, and using your grammar, punctuation, and capitalization skills to write something that's worth being called a paragraph, it helps. Those are just my thoughts.

Roleplay is what got me interested in writing. I did not do much writing, because I hated it. Roleplay taught me what to do, what not to do, how to go about fleshing a decent character out, make a functioning plot, and how to put my ideas and visions down into words.

And I find another way of improving writing skills is by reading like a madman.

I will now attempt to list everything that is wrong with this post.
1. "Flys" should be "flies." It should also be capitalized.
2. "Egde" should be "edge."
3. There needs to be a "the" between "to" and "lake", or "lake" should be capitalized because it's a name of a place.
4. "Y" is not a word. It should be "why" and it should not be capitalized.
5. "....." NO. An ellipsis is only three dots, not five.
6. It changes tense, from third person to first person and back to third again.
7. There needs to be commas instead of "and" "and" "and". Either that, or it should be two separate sentences.

I will now attempt to put that messy blob into a grammatically correct paragraph.

I fly towards the lake and pause, hovering in midair, watching as the sunlight glitters gently off of the waves. It's windy, and the moving air buffets my face and wings. I go into a dive, cutting through the sky like a knife through butter, with the wind whistling in my ears. I spread my wings to stop the dive and come to a halt in midair, landing gently on the stones of the shore. They crunch under my feet as I slither closer to the water, glancing down at my reflection. The sight of my scarred face brings tears to my eyes as I remember the battle, and I can't help but think, why?

IT'S NOT THAT HARD, PEOPLE.

So instead of getting pissed off on the roleplay, I come here to vent instead ^^

Rant: Besides having no muse for a new RP, I decided to check to see if there were any good Animal RPs to join. OH MY GOSH. MORE THAN 3/4 OF THE PAGE WAS WOLF PACK RPs. WHY? Why you people have no creativity? [/endrant]


EDIT: My muse! Yay! However, I'm sure it will be short-lived, so let me use it while it lasts. I have an idea for a roleplay where {insert animal species here} have taken over the world and humans are their slaves. Would anyone join? And any suggestions for which animals?
