I'm personally a fan of prehistoric big cats (and other extinct mammals). I have a book on them called The Big Cats and Their Fossil Relatives. It has awesome artwork by Mauricio Antón. Here is his Wordpress. Just wanted to share.

Daily Prehistoric Creature Fact #16: Tyrannosaurus had binocular vision. This means it could judge distance, making it a very efficient hunter. It also had excellent eyesight, hearing, smell and balance.

Daily Prehistoric Creature Fact #17: Macrauchenia had a trunk like an elephant but a body like a camelid. Yet it was neither of these. It was in a group of hooves mammals known as the Litopterns. Litopterns have no modern ancestors.

Daily Prehistoric Creature Fact #18: Sarcosuchus was the largest crocodilian ever and could weigh up to 8 tonnes and measure up to 12 meters long. Its snout is similar to a modern Gharial, however, its teeth reveal it took large prey, meaning it ate dinosaurs.

Daily Prehistoric Creature Fact #19: Original classification of Theropod dinosaurs was based off size alone. Large Theropods were classed as Carnosaurs, while small Theropods were classed as Coelurosaurs. It is now known that Carnosaurs are only one group of large Theropods and are also known as the Allosaurs. Coelurosaurs also contain large Theropods, such as Therizinosaurs and Tyrannosaurs. Other large Theropods are classed as Spinosaurs, Abelisaurs, or Megaraptorans.
