i feel kind of bad for saying this since it is still very much an indie game,, buuuuuuttt
i really didn't like cult of the lamb. i bought it really soon after it came out because, well, everyone seemed to be really hyping it up ! talking about how fun it was and how cute the style is and yadah yadah, i think it's boring.
i was disappointed with the gameplay quite a lot, especially because most of the advertisements, from what i can remember, we're primarily showing off the roguelike aspects of the game. im personally a huge fan of roguelikes and thought that, since that was the main aspect of it that was showcased in any trailer, that would be the main selling point of the game !
it wasn't.
in fact, not only were the roguelike elements poorly implemented and boring by not offering you any sort of weapon or magic mix up and rather just relegating you to a single weapon that you get at the start of the dungeon, but it was also barely important. sure, it was the main aspect used to actually further the story, but the story was,,, frankly really uninteresting to me personally. i was incredibly disappointed when i realized the main gameplay of it was actually a town builder. a really,, not fun one at that too. i only really started having some sort of fun with the game when i started naming my cultists by genshin character names, but even then, i had to p much force myself to play it.
the gameplay loop is boring. you spend the day cleaning up your cult, you do a sermon and then you do nothing but talk to the same characters over and over again or go into the boring roguelike sections in hope of, i don't know, getting another cult member i guess. the novelty of having those guys around wore off real fast though, so after you reach a certain point, you just start speedrunning through the roguelike sections so you can be done with them. it would've been at least fun if the weapon variants you got were at least good but,, they just really weren't. they were uninteresting, most of the cards did little to nothing and were useless and impacted none of your gameplay, the boss fights felt sort of fun but barely even a challenge.
i felt bad not liking this game that everyone at the time seemed obsessed with but, genuinely, the more and more i played it the more tired i got of it. i don't particularly "hate" the game, far from it. i think the creators of it did their best and at least made a very visually pretty game [ + the music is p good ] but unfortunately, i was left kind of disappointed and unimpressed. i never finished the game because at a certain point i just didn't want to keep forcing myself to play a game i was clearly not enjoying.

truthfully, battlefield 2042. I play it almost every day because I really want to like it (and spent a lot of money on it when it released) but it seemingly gets worse with every single update. the amounts of bugs I have encountered is gigantic and they sometimes even make the game unplayable. sure, some are funny (I once had a glitch where the head of every soldier was replaced by a huge boulder???) but they still shouldn't be there. plus they keep going more and more towards the mainstream route with cosmetics and gameplay. like, once battlefield used to be an experience with many crazy moments that was just unique and true to it's stories and now it's starting to feel more and more like every other mainstream online shooter with soldiers that look like power rangers. I just wish I could love it as much as the previous battlefield games man :(
anyway, that being said it's still better than call of duty and dozer is my spirit animal :p

hmm i cant think of many games i honestly 'hate' but one game i really dislike is terraria. I'm not sure if it is because i havent tried really learning how to play it, but ive given it a couple tries and honestly you cant do anything in that game without using the wiki. its so incredibly overwhelming, theres so many items and i dont know what anything does. i dont really enjoy games that i cant just explore and learn on my own. nothing in the game seems intuitive, theres nothing leading you in any direction to progress anything. maybe i just havent given it a fair chance or played far enough into it? idk man

the hype is genuinely that its just boring 😭 i love animal crossing but the game is just meant to be a mundane experience , thats the draw . its just a calming town simulation game
