But does this mean she's deaf? Because the wording makes it seem like she is ^^"

She's really cure though!

@Meoauniaea oh shes gorgeous! glad she's a good service dog for you, and best of luck with the canicross :)

@northern lights. i'm sorry for your loss, he looked like a real good boy.

anyone got any tips for managing a male dog around females in heat? was at a group training where one of the dogs was in heat, and my dog went pretty ballistic. would not accept any food, including stuff he thinks is very high value. would play a little bit but would quickly loose focus and would just, pull, and scream.

should i just avoid taking him if i know theres dogs in heat or is it possible to improve it? obviously don't expect him to ever be perfect, just want it to be more managable if at all possible. hes 10 months atm.

neutering isn't an option for me till he's matured and his growth plates have fused etc, (and i would prefer to keep him intact unless it starts impacting his QOL)

young man in question when he's not being stressed about ladies

Some people choose to avoid dogs who are in heat, while others prefer to train their males to behave around them. It's up to you what you want to ask of your dog/work toward! :) I am very involved in IGP and Mondioring and many of the trainers, myself included, choose to teach their males to ignore females in heat. This is usually done by working on engagement with the dog. Since your boy was not accepting food and he would only play a little, I would try to get a piece of cloth with the female's smell wiped onto it. Then, you can practice engagement and playing with him around the scent. If he is struggling to pay attention, increase the distance from the cloth. As he improves in engaging and playing with you, you can slowly close in the distance.

Here are a couple good, brief videos on engagement:

It's been a while since I've posted here. Loki turned 8 yesterday so that was fun. Also finally got my standard poodle girl, we'll be doing UKC shows and some sports and hopefully hunt tests. Have some photos of Loki and Dulcera. Plus a photo from work of her with our vets' dogs.

@Blu Malinois thank you, those videos seem very helpful! i'll definitely try to work towards having him be able to work around em' and to stay engaged.
