doing all the poll questions because yeah
- i am VERY picky with trading my rares for people's uncommons. i don't mind getting a 2010 uncommon (that will likely become rare soon) for most rares. for most rares i will have to go with
6-10, but it highly depends on the year.
- i value current store pets at around the same as
2010 rares.- i would
never trade a rare for an uncommon, unless if it's a super high demand uncommon and i'm getting something out of it. i never overpay.
- i would
definitely accept a dec 2019 pet for jan 2020 as long as the demand/rarity is similar, and it's on my wishlist. it's just a month apart. no different than nov and dec.
- i'd give them
one rare + some uncommons. i don't personally do the "2 rares = 1 rare of previous year" thing because it feels like overpay to me. i don't mind if others do it to me though

eric/keaton/keat - he/him - adult - queer - autistic and very bad with words. ask me to clarify something if you're confused
taking a break from both FR and CS trading for now!

I'm gonna answer the questions in the perspective of a returning player with little valuable rares, since I think that's often a left-out perspective (returning players and those without many rares to trade.)
When you trade, how many uncommons do you think are equal to a rare?Assuming same year and not on the "list," 2-4 UCs for a rare.
However, in all honesty I'm too scared to attempt these trades lol
When you're trading, how do you value current store pets?I don't trade for current stores via pets but honestly it's because I value them at like 2012-14 "regular" rares. Let's just say the state of C$ isn't looking too good in my eyes lol
When would you be willing to trade one rare for one uncommon? (assume no special demand)I don't trade a single for a single uncommon, but as I said before I'd be happy to be traded older UCs for my older rares! Also, maybe if the rare was a very recent rare. Maybe I'm just stingy because well... I have exactly 13 real valuable rares available for trade. And because I know others value their rares very highly, even if recent.
If someone offered a Jan 2020 pet for your Dec 2019 pet, would you accept?January 2020 for my December 2019 pet? I would immediately accept if it was a WL pet, and would accept, just later, if it wasn't WL.
A user is trading a 2010 rare with you that you really want, and asks how many newer rares they can get for it. What is the maximum number of rares you’d be willing to trade?I would be most comfortable giving 2 2011 rares for a 2010 rare. Just because bulk trading for rarity math would be too much for my already limited trading fodder.

I think I'm one of the most narrow-focused traders - I care about my butterflywolf collection obsessively (almost done!) and occasionally there's another lineart I like that I'll put on my wishlist. I also don't really care about items. These two things give me a lot flexibility to overpay in exchange for the convenience doing fewer trades and spending less time trawling for pets I'm interested in. Even for my casual collecting now, I routinely offer a year older or a rarity up (in the lower tiers) or multiple pets, just so I can get the pet and move on with my life. Having trades fall through - or worse, stagnate - is boring and frustrating, especially when the wish list gets shorter and shorter. Back when I had a long wishlist, I couldn't afford to do this, for sure.
1) When you trade, how many uncommons do you think are equal to a rare?
Depending on the demand, I might not do a "their UC/my rare" trade at all. I went through a phase of offering 2 UC and asking for a rare and let me tell you, I had very few takers, even when my UC were older. I think 3-5 UC for one rare generally had more takers.
2) When would you be willing to trade one rare for one uncommon? (assume no special demand)
I guess if the uncommon is 2? 3?+ years older. And it'd also help if the rare is a lower-demand species than the UC.
3) If someone offered a Jan 2020 pet for your Dec 2019 pet, would you accept?
Only if it was a pet I was interested in having, otherwise it'd feel like they're trying to paperclip me.
4) A user is trading a 2010 rare with you that you really want, and asks how many newer rares they can get for it. What is the maximum number of rares you’d be willing to trade?
Probably I'd roughly follow the 1:2 rule per year difference? 2 rares from 2011, 8 rares from 2015 or so, 16 from 2019+. Species and pet demand definitely factor in here and whether or not the rares are on their WL or just trading fodder.
