Shadow | Alpha | L-Pack | Tagging: Apocalypse | Location: Camp

"Oh I only wish that were true. The life of an Alpha is a life of pressure. A great many wolves glorify it, but I sometimes envy the lower rank wolves who can simply live their lives, without the burden I have to bear. I’m far from perfect, but I don’t want to make a mistake that will cost us in the long run." Shadow wished it was as Apocalypse had said. Things would be so much easier, so much simpler that way. "That’s what I’ve done so far. For Beta, I’ve been considering a couple options, and my gut leads me to leaning towards Qaniit. He’s young, but he has the makings of a fine leader one day. He’s ambitious and smart, he’s good socially, and empathetic. For the Leads, it was a tough pick. I’m debating between Toby and Storm as a Lead Hunter, they both have such strong merit to them, and I’m almost decided, I only have a few lingering doubts and wanted a second opinion. The name that came to mind for Lead Warrior was Blizzard. What think you?"

"I’m not so sure 'bout cuddling yet, we'll see if it comes to needin' physical comfort, but maybe havin' someone right there next to me will help." Admittedly, Karter was a little embarrassed. He was a grown Warrior who had been through much…and he needed help just to get a full night's sleep? Well. Maybe a healthy sleep schedule would do some wonders for his naturally grumpy attitude. He could hope. He didn’t like being short with his own Packmates, especially given how lucky he was to be in such an accepting and welcoming Pack now.

"Yeah, actually as a matter of fact, we are. We would’ve asked you, but we saw you with Cody and figured the two of you would be busy for a while." Toby chuckled quietly. "No, not a patrol, a hunting party, and Storm had suggested bringing a Warrior with us to act as a guard so we can focus without worrying about anything, but she has yet to give me the name of the Warrior she had in mind," he remembered, glancing towards his fellow Hunter. "And yeah, that would be great, if you would."

Smoke | Warrior | L-Pack | Tagging: Lucas, Nyx | Location: Camp

Smoke shook out her dark grey fur, standing up just a little taller. "I’m not doing anything, I wouldn’t mind coming with!" She agreed. She was sure it would be better than standing around doing a whole lot of nothing. Her eyes brightened. "Maybe we'll find something interesting! Every day brings new opportunities, after all. When do you want to head out, and where do you want to go by, exactly?" She asked.

Kaden | Pup | L-Pack | Tagging: Sorin | Location: Camp

"Well you weren’t having much luck while I was on top of you," Kade pointed out with a slightly smug tone. He was so rarely the smug and arrogant type, but he could afford a moment here and there in play, he figured. Besides, was he WRONG? Not at all. The reddish brown pup shrugged, stretching himself out. Cold? "Well…a little. My fur is getting longer, but it’s not long enough to keep out the wind. But I’ll be a Warrior one day, and no real Warrior would let themselves be scared off by something like the cold, right? That would be pretty pathetic."

Blizzard | Warrior | L-Pack | Tagging: Chronos | Location: Camp

"Yeah, they’ll work just fine. Did you happen to see them? I didn’t happen to see either of those two today. I think they might’ve still been in the dens when Smoke started her usual yelling or something." Blizzard liked to try and keep track of the wolves, but he hadn’t had the chance to see everyone yet, but ah well. There was no rush really, was there? After all, the day was still young, and the sun was barely up fully!

Kassandra | Hunter | F-Pack | Tagging: Quin, Serafina | Location: Camp

A small dip of Kass' head in response to the announced Lead and Beta. She was ambitious herself, maybe she had hoped for one of the roles, but she knew such was not a great position for someone like her. "Enui is a wonderful choice," she murmured. That was something she could respect. Octavia…she had her doubts, not because of skill, but solely because Octavia was practically in the Elder's den now. How much longer would she actually be able to serve?

"Good. I worry about my Packmates in these cold seasons, y'know." Kaz lifted his gaze towards Max as the large, black brute strode out and called the Pack together, then…made his announcements. Enui and Octavia. Well. He could agree with one of those decisions. "Well thank the sky-dogs, it’s about time we had our leadership all sorted out," he huffed. Then he lifted his head to join the howls of cheer raised for their new Lead and Beta.

"Entirely possible. The cold and hunger can do a number on someone. I know I’m not the most warm and fuzzy wolf in the world, but I hope that you know that if anything is ever bothering you, be it now or after graduation, I’ll still be here, and you can always come to me, right? You are my pride, and I intend to be here as long as you’ll have me, to help you grow, to equip you, and to help you in whatever way I can," Móraín promised.

Arian | Lead Warrior | F-Pack | Tagging: Rion, Leonidas | Location: Camp

"If…If you would, I think it would be a great help. I haven’t seen her yet today, but I’m sure she’s lurking somewhere. Jasmin never misses a meeting," Arian pointed out. She had a patrol to attend to, wolves to sort out, but Leonidas needed help, clearly, and he needed help fast. Something was wrong and she couldn’t tell what it was. Jasmin would know though. No sooner had she finished speaking than Leonidas had wandered off, only to collapse. Immediately, Arian had shot to her feet and darted to his side, worry written all over her face. "Leonidas? Hey, look at me, talk to me."

River was too quick to shake her head in a no as soon as the words "teach you" came out of Fish's mouth. "As fun as that would be - for you Fish. You know I cannot go into the water" River whispered with her ears folding back slightly. The young wolf had a shiver creep down her spine with just the thought of the water. She couldn't even think about it without thinking about her mom. Being a little too quick to subject change, River cleared her throat "Should we look for a few other warriors to go patrol with or should we let Shadow know we will be going out on a patrol ourselves" she asked with a small smile.

Risen nodded as Night had confirmed the rabbit, he took a step towards the pile before carefully grabbing the rabbit in his jaws and turning back to face the warrior. Lowering his head, Risen placed the rabbit by her paws and stepped back to offer her the prey. He turned his head to scan the camp and check to see if any patrols were gathering. As Risen's eyes scanned, they landed on Minttu. He acknowledged her tail greeting with a dip of his head. He knew she must be hungry , carrying pups wasn't an easy task in the slightest. He turned back to the prey pile, quickly scanning over it once again He noticed a decently sized squirrel and reached forward to grasp it in his jaws. He turned to Night and tilted his head to let her know he would be bringing the meal to Minttu. The small wag of his tail promised a return.
Risen turned and padded towards the nursery , the squirrel hanging from his jaws. As he approached Minttu he lowered his head in greeting to the expecting wolf. He placed the squirrel at her feet and raised his head offering a small smile. Due to Minttu's kind nature, she was one of the wolves Risen felt more comfortable speaking to "H-here" he said quietly with a small wag of his tail.

Blaze's attention turned towards the pack meeting, he scoffed to himself but dipped his head at the Alpha's announcements. He would respect the Alpha's decisions and continue working for his pack regardless of his own opinions. His ears flicked hearing the small commotion breaking out in the pack. He huffed in slight annoyance - must everything be full of dramatics? Blaze turned to watch Leonidas collapse on the ground. "oh rats" he grumbled before padding towards the wolves, Arian and Leonidas "Do you need help Arian, I can alert Jasmine that he collapsed" he offered.

Destiny swished her tail as she and Luciano spoke, they had paused for the pack announcement, "well that was unexpected. However understandable" she noted before flicking her ears. While admittedly surprised at the selections, Destiny wouldn't question Max's choices. Before opening her mouth to return to conversation with Luciano; She turned her attention back towards the pack to see the status of patrols. It seemed there was still a bit of time before she would need to be on one - if they were formed. "before the meeting and even now, not on anyone's radar. When I was younger I'd take this opportunity to sneak out and explore" Destiny commented with a small giggle "However those days are behind me - kind of"

Canary/F-pack Warrior/Location: Camp/Tagging: Max, Enui (mentions: Arian and Kazimir)

She listened closely to the Alpha's word, she looked around and saw Kazimir run out of Camp. She then spotted Arian with Rion and Leonidas and noticed Leonidas was looking sickly, she shoots one more glare at Rion and got up to talk to Enui about what she saw.

She licked her fur to be presentable to her Alpha and new Beta, she walks over to Enui "Congrats Enui, I don't mean to damper the mood, but I just saw your father run out of camp with a worried look on his face. I'll tell Arian as well" she says

Jay/F-pack Hunter/Location: Camp, prey pile/Tagging: Oriole

"Hmmm, not now. My mother was a caretaker for pregnant she-wolves like her mother before her, and I would tag along with her, she taught me all about it..." they said, they thought of their loving mother then their hateful father, they sighed "she always told the pairs only try having pups late winter to mid spring, because of the fact that it's higher chance of miscarriages, stillborns, sick pups, etc. I couldn't see you suffer if you got sick, or lose the pups" they explained, they panted after the long talk

Leonidas/F-pack Warrior/Location: Camp/Tagging: Arian

He took a a breath "m-my stomach...." he mumbles and throws up last night's dinner

Terra/L-pack Healer/Location: Camp, Healer's den/Tagging: Uciel, Willows (Mentions: Shadow)

She stood up "while you two sort out those, I'm going to tell the Alpha of our herb situation. I expect you've eaten Uciel, and Willows please get some breakfast" she says trotting out of the den, she looked around for Shadow, she see her talking to Apocalypse and wonders over.

She dips her head to the two as she approached them "I don't mean to interpret, but I got to talk to after, my Alpha" she says, she turned to walk away.

Phoenix/L-pack Hunter/Location: Camp/Tagging: Cody, Toby, Storm

"Good, I found a patch of grass, it's where I got the rabbit. I smelled many different prey, but the one that stand out was a deer and it was recent" he says excitedly

Enui | Fire Beta | Location: Camp --> Forest | Tagging: Max, Canary --> Open (mentions: Kazimir, Arian)

Enui didn't receive all approving howls in from the gathered group - she certainly didn't see Arian giving her support, not that Enui would've wanted it anyway. No, who Enui was most thrilled to see was her own father, cheering and barking and wagging for her. She offered him a bashful, delighted expression. That expression turned quickly to one of confusion and then downright horror when her father turned and bolted from the camp. Had something upset him? Arian paid the elder no mind and a glance at her replacement told her that, No, of course she wouldn't, she's surrounded by men. Even Leonidas had thrown himself at the Lead Warrior's paws. Turning to Max, she dipped her head.

"I will return, my Alpha, but I am worried for my father, Kazimir. Once I am assured that he is well... then I will be at your beck and call as your Beta." She shifted uneasily for a moment on her paws. Should she wait to be dismissed? Surely she didn't have to, surely her leader would understand. It was then that Canary approached and Enui turned her head to her.
"Yes, I saw. Kindly mind your own business, Canary. These are family affairs." She then added. "Arian can't be bothered just now, so I'll be handling my father." She was Beta now, she remembered, so she added a terse. "Thank you for your concern." Turning back to Max, she bobbed her head again and then turned, hurrying past the other wolves gathered and disappearing from the central camp territory.

"Father?" She called as she left the camp's boundaries and broke to the forest. She dipped her head to scent the air around her and followed once she found a scent trail. "Father, it's Enui! Come over to the sound of my voice if you can hear me!"

She was annoyed of the rudeness of their new Beta and future Alpha, but she hide it well. She nodded and trotted away where Arian was sittingno wonder I'm only friends with her sister and not her! Come to think of it, she doesn't have really any friends other then the Alpha and her father she thought and snorted in frustration. She stopped in her tracks as she saw Leonidas throwing up, she quickly looked around for Jasmin and ran to the Healer's den "Jasmin its a emergency!" She yells into the den

"Karter!" Storm barked abruptly, the noise sharper than she intended it to. She flopped an ear back, embarrassed, looking at Toby. "Uh, I mean, Karter is the Warrior I'd like to join. Sorry, I jut got, uh, distracted." She said, her eyes darting back to where they'd settled on Karter and Navii, speaking with one another in a close proximity. Her pelt had prickled and she'd gotten so lost in thought looking at the pair of them.

"Phoenix, will you be joining us to show us where that deer-scented patch of grass was?" She asked. "Or at least tell us where abouts to find it, if you're..." She turned her eyes over Phoenix's shoulder, to where Cody lay further behind him. "Busy." She added with a smile. "I'm sure we can find others, if you are." She turned to Toby. "I'll leave you to gather the other hunters. I'll go grab our Warrior escort." She told him and with a nod of acknowledgement to Phoenix, she turned and started towards Karter and Navii.

She took a deep breath, cleared her mind and put on a broad smile as she trotted up to the pair of them.
"Heeeeeey Karter! Hey Navii!" She greeted her fellow hunter with a polite nod. "Karter! You up to playing guard duty? Toby and I are off hunting and we're gonna need someone to act as our eyes. I can't think of anyone more paranoid than you - whaddya say? Whatever I catch, you can have the first bite of! How's that for incentive?" She said, wagging her tail eagerly.

Lightning

The pretty gray she wolf smiled a small canine smile as she looked at him. She looked to the pups, then back to him again. She figured Sorin would always be more a follower than a leader. Even if he gained more confidence as he got older. A beta still had to be able to give orders. They'd be orders from the alpha, of course, or if the alpha should fall ill the beta would have to lead the pack for a bit. She shook her head a couple times. She giggled a bit, saying "They sure would." She sat there and imagined a moment. She imagined them as adults, leading the pack together. An alpha and his beta, she smiled a bit at the thought. She then turned her attention back to the male again. She offered another simple little smile to Qaniit. She then said "Oh, no, I'm good for now if you want to ask some questions. Go ahead, ask away if you're still interested." She giggled a little after saying this, then shook her head again a couple times.

The smaller and slender black-phase pup said "Yeah, yeah, whatever." He glanced to the adults a moment, then shook his head. He could tell they were talking about he and Kaden. Moving closer to Kaden, he said "They're talkin about us." He then nodded as Kaden spoke about the fur situation. "Well, you could always snuggle up, to me, or...mama. Just because you might be a warrior one day doesn't mean you can't snuggle with others. I see wolves doing it all the time," he said, though granted...it was usually mates or family.

The pretty dark she wolf smiled kindly, and nodded at the warrior. She said "Okay, then...ill just sleep close by you. Let's see how that helps, if at all." She was about to continue when Storm ran over, and spoke to her, but... mostly to Karter. She made a small sound at this, looking between them. She noticed Storm only extended the invite to Karter. She sighed, saying "Well, I'll leave you to it, then." She glanced around a moment then back to them, hesitating a bit. She put her ears back a moment, then shook her head. She looked to where some others had gathered. She figured maybe one of them would ask her to come along. Maybe, maybe not, she didn't know if they had enough wolves or not.

The lighter brown semi fluffy one nodded to the other. Turquoise eyes glanced around, then quickly back to Comet. He pointed his nose to where Qaniit was, with two pups and Lukina. "I think Lukina might just get food herself. I don't know, maybe she's already eaten. We...could go hunting together if you want," he then offered, as they'd been talking about that too. He then smiled a bit. "Kaden and Sorin are so big now," he said, and knew Kaden would be a trainee very soon.

The darker faced brown male growled when Canary ran off to find the healer...He rolled his eyes, and hurried over to Arian and Leonidas. "Well, Canary just ran off to do what you asked me to do...Ill stay here with you and him," he said. He'd help watch over the other male as needed. He waited to see if Arian decided to give him something else to do, though. He looked in worry at the fallen male. He looked around a moment, then quickly back to Arian and Leonidas.

The pretty black-phase she wolf muttered "I wonder if I could ever be a lead...No, I think I'm more the follower type. What about you two, Kass and Serafina? Do you two ever consider wanting to be leads?" she asked the two of them.

The pretty white marked chocolate one sighed but nodded. She then listened as he explained about his mother, and going with her. After he'd explained, she nodded to her mate. "Okay, then...we could wait until late winter or spring. If you're okay with that," they then quickly said. They didn't want him having to worry, either.

Karter might have said more. He couldn’t deny being a little tense, but he certainly didn’t want to be. It was Navii, one of his dear friends. Then his name was barked out sharply, and his ear flicked in response. "Ah…looks like I’ve been called, sorry it split so quick." Karter gently licked Navii's ear. "I’ll have to head off then, but catch up with you later." He glanced over as Storm arrived and nodded to her. "Hey Storm. Been a bit. What’ve you gotten yourself up to?" He chuckled to himself. "Honestly. Dunno what to think ‘bout bein' characterized as paranoid, but sure. Thanks for the invite. Just tell me where you need me, I haven’t been assigned anythin' yet today."

Arian | Lead Warrior | F-Pack | Tagging: Rion, Leonidas, Blaze, Jasmin | Location: Camp

"I think…I think I saw her, but I-" she was stopped by the arrival of the Healer in question. "Nevermind, she’s right here. We just need to give her space to work now, I think." Worry flickered through Arian. Leonidas may not be the wolf she was closest to in the entire world or anything, but was still very much a friend, and of course she would never wish harm on the wolves that she cared about! "That’s it, everyone give them some space," she ordered, straightening and stepping back herself to allow Jasmin to take her place at Leonidas' side instead.

Jasmin | Healer | F-Pack | Tagging: Canary, Leonidas, Arian, Rion, Blaze | Location: Camp

Jasmin rushed over to the scene at Canary's call. An emergency was the last thing they needed right now, but it was what it was. Her herb store was running dangerously low, but she should have enough to deal with a situation now. "What’s happened? Someone tell me what’s going on. I can’t treat anything until I have an idea of the issue." One could tell at a glance Leonidas was out of it, and it was far from reassuring, and Jasmin's heart sank. She glanced at Canary. "Would you be a dear and fetch some of the herbs from the top of the stack at the far end of my den? It should help with pain." He had thrown up, so something to soothe the stomach wound certainly be of use. "It’s alright, Leonidas. Talk to me. What happened before this? Have you been feeling unwell lately? Or was there an event that upset you? What’s going on?"

Luciano | Warrior | F-Pack | Tagging: Destiny | Location: Camp

Luciano was silent throughout the meeting, choosing not to address Destiny's words until after the ceremony had ended. He had never been particularly vocal, but he certainly intended to approach Enui and Octavia later to wish them well and congratulate them. Up close and personal congratulations were surely much more meaningful than a collective howl. Especially when there was no guarantee wolves didn’t cheer out of a feeling of pressure or necessity. "As members of the Fire Pack, we have to be responsible now, we don’t have time for the pup-like adventures youth get into." Luciano shook his head. "I understand having fire in you though. It’s a good thing, really."

Fish | Warrior | L-Pack | Tagging: River | Location: Camp

"Just an offer." Fish had always found it vaguely amusing that her friend named River was a wolf afraid of her namesake. However, it was not her place to laugh. Fish knew she had her own traumas and concerns, and those were valid, so were not her friend's as well? "If you change your mind, let me know. You know I would never ever let anything bad happen to you, right?" She left it with that thought though. "Looks to me like Shadow's pretty busy right now, but I wouldn’t doubt she’d appreciate us taking a patrol out on our own," she said.

Night | Warrior | L-Pack | Tagging: Risen | Location: Camp

Night dipped her head in acknowledgement to the nonverbal communication. So he was a wolf of few words. That was alright. She didn’t mind that at all, everyone was different, and for all her arrogance, Night had never expected everyone to be like her, far from it, in fact. She liked Risen. A lot more than she liked most wolves here, actually. He was quiet, but respectful, and just…easy to be around. So she eagerly awaited his return. She would wait to eat, since they intended to share a meal that morning. A good start to what she hoped to be a good day.

Mouse | Fire Omega | Location: Camp | Tagging: Open (mentions: Leonidas, Arian, Rion, Canary, Jasmin)

Mouse had attended the gathering by sitting as far away from her pack members as possible. She'd sat down and started licking the dirt out of her wounded shoulder. Enui, who had bitten her earlier that morning, was named Beta. Great, Thought Mouse. Another wolf too involved with the pack's traditional political standards. Then, Octavia, the old bitty, was named Lead Hunter. Well, now we're ALL going to starve! She thought. With an elder in charge, especially a stubborn one that refused to retire, despite looking two inches away from collapsing at any moment, the Fire Pack would lose more than a few to starvation in the upcoming seasons.

It sounds like Max just wanted to reward his two biggest fangirls. Mouse thought rolling her eyes. Her shoulder stung initially, but the pain was beginning to ebb away with each gentle lick. When another commotion started up as the meeting was dismissed, Mouse glanced up again from the safety of her corner. Leonidas had retched up his meal - Such a waste. - and was acting like he was the most sickly as a result. Probably seeking attention. She thought. Stomach aches were something to walk off. Once you made the purge and had some water, ultimately a wolf could go back to what they were doing before. Why he had to collapse like a needy pup in distress, well, the conclusion of gaining a wolf's attention - namely Arian's, based on proximity,

He wastes food and gets away with it, but when I eat breakfast before him, I get in trouble. Mouse thought bitterly. The utter privilege of these regular wolves and they don't even see it. Mouse molded her expression into one of neutrality and re-focused her attention on her shoulder. Thank goodness no one in the pack could read her mind. Otherwise she wouldn't be allowed to have her rebellious thoughts and dreams. She sighed through her nose. Fantasies, more like. As if she could ever really kill the Alpha. And now I'd have to get rid of Enui too, for being so like-minded. Yeah, fantasies indeed. She concluded with another sigh.

indentation With her breathing back to normal as she padded through the entrance to the camp, the dark she-wolf rumbled happily. It seems that everyone was up and about as she expected. And from the looks of things she was probably the only one outside camp. Unless she was missing something. Ali shook her head, then padded over to the prey patch and dropped her catches on the pile. Kae once again looked around the camp, spotting Shadow talking to their only elder. Maybe once Shadow gets a new lead hunter we'll have organized hunts again. She thought, rumbling thoughtfully as she padded away from the prey pile. Trotting over to a shady area, the brown-shaded she-wolf flopped onto one side after gracefully laying down. "What a day, what a day." She muttered, tucking her paws close to her chest, and tucking her tail between her legs. Alikae allowed her eyes to lull half-closed, as she enjoyed the cold day. She had always been weird like that enjoying the cold. The cold seasons were her favorite after all, with all the beautiful multi-colored leaves and pristine white snow.

indentation Qaniit kept an eye on the two pups, after all, it was a warrior's job to be mindful of any and all situations. He huffed as he watched the two and then took a moment to return his attention to Lukina. "Well the offer's available, so if you ever need a break let me know." Qaniit returned kindly, tail wagging giddily as she offered to answer his questions. "I don't have many questions, I think. I don't often end up guarding hunting patrols, so..." He cleared his throat, and met her gaze, not willing to admit it was also another way to get to know the older pack-mates better. " First of all, a question of personal preference, do you prefer solo hunting or hunting in a bigger group?" Qan questioned, one ear veering over towards Sorin and Kaden, to keep an ear on them.

indentation Rina chuckled softly, "Thank you for apologizing, little one." Her ears flushed with heat, "Though I must admit that it's more of a personal pet peeve of mine. It can just be so hard to tell if someone's talking to you or someone three steps away from you if there's no obvious name-calling." She said, feeling the need to explain herself. Shaking her head as if to clear her embarrassment, the she-wolf returned her attention to the meeting. Blinking in surprise as Enui and Octavia was the alpha's chosen, she watched silently as Enui walked up to the black-furred male and accepted the offer of beta. Octavia though seemed to be in a state of shock. Had she not heard? Or was she debating on whether or not she'd accept? She turned her gaze to Zaeru interested in the younger she-wolf's interpretation of what just happened.

indentationIt wasn't like he could hide, he knew that something like this was a big thing. He was old, and things wouldn't get any better from here as it had for his father. Though those were two separate problems, his father's arthritis was manageable compared to forgetting important things like your mate's name. While his mind whirled in and out of focus, Kazimir was unknowingly speaking his own thoughts aloud, voice increasing with hysterics. Body trembling the male let his head fall onto his paws, dull claws digging into the cold earth. He lay there, the graying male faintly heard his daughter's voice, calling to him. "I forgot her name. I forgot her name. I forgot her name." He muttered his breath, voice raspy but monotone. He couldn't believe it. As the voice got louder he distantly recognized it as Enui's and relaxed for a heartbeat. His body tensed a moment later before the trembling returned. He didn't want her to know, neither of them could know. but the hares already escaped those jaws, isn't it?
indentation Slowly, the male got to his paws, his trembling calming enough that he could stand. He turned and started walking toward the sound of Enui's voice. Stepping out of some foliage, the male paused at the sight of his daughter. He cleared his throat, and he spoke, with a dull tone. "I forgot her name. I forgot her name, Enui. I... I don't know what to do. How could I forget it?" He turned his gaze from her, shame curdling his stomach, "What if I forget you and Arian next?" Kazimir whispered as he returned his gaze to his eldest.
