indentationHer gait slowed almost to a full stop as the scent got stronger and stronger, leading her to a clearing that as far as she knew the hunting parties didn't hunt in often. "That might have to change soon." Kae muttered softly as she lowered her body to the ground as began to stalk her prey more thoroughly. Thankfully she wouldn't have to wait long for her prey to be sighted, checking to make sure she was downwind - like she should have done earlier. Alikae trudged forward, pausing only a few lengths away from her target. Without a moment's notice, the she-wolf darted forward snarling silently as her jaws and sharp teeth snapped around the grouse's neck. It barely let out a start or a startled call when she snapped its neck and let it fall to the ground.

indentation Interest sparked as the two pups answered his question, and he forced back a grin. Good, more trainee's in each rank means a healthier pack. He mused, watching the two pups for a short moment as they began to tussle before turning his attention. "I think they are a little young to be alpha or beta right now, though I'd probably cheerfully follow them into the heart of Firepack territory." He joked softly, before adding, "It would be a few years, but I can see it. Should they show the needed qualities?" Qaniit murmured, as he returned his attention to the two pups, depending on how old the new beta will be, one of these two, or one of the trainees may be our beta after. He thought with a sigh, fighting off a grimace.
indentationNo need to think about how that would happen, Shadow's going to be around for a long, long time. Shaking his head, the pale-furred male turned his gaze to the den-mother. "So, your jumping to get back to hunting duty? I have so many questions."

indentation So close, and yet so far. The she-wolf inhaled a sigh, as resentment built in her chest. Moon, Stars, and Sun, can't I just have one day where I can wander alone for a bit? She mentally pleaded with silent beings. A smile stretched across her face she stopped and turned her gaze back to the younger trainee. "It's polite to greet someone before you start a conversation, Zaeru." She started, tone chiding. She wasn't sure how to respond to the other trainee's lines of questioning but winged it. "It's not like I'd be gone long enough to be missed," Probaly not, but possibly. " besides I can pro-" Her sentence cut off as Max's voice rang out calling for the pack to gather. The she-wolf sighed, there goes that idea. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. "Come on Zaeru, we've got a gathering to attend." She said, before nudging the still puppy-like wolf and padding towards the Alpha and the other gathering wolves.

indentation With his walk to his usual area interrupted by a voice calling him father, he looked up, half hoping it was Enui but figuring it was Arian. As his gaze landed on the wolf in question, he found he was right. "Good morning, beloved Arian." He rumbled out in a pleased tone, watching as his ever-dutiful youngest do her best to keep things in check while the pack was without a stable hierarchy. Noting his youngest was with two subordinates, Canary and Archer the male decided to pad over as his daughter padded over to two other wolves who seemed to be in a spot of trouble. He grimaced, as he sat his chunk of meat down, then nodded to the two wolves. "Good morrow, Canary, Archer." Kazimir greeted the two politely, watching the duo out of the corner of his eye, keeping his gaze mostly on his youngest.
indentationThe aging brute froze as Max's voice rang across the camp, calling for the pack to gather, and sighed. Good news hopefully. At the very least a new lead hunter should be appointed. Zimir mused silently, as his gaze slowly turned to the large black brute the pack called Alpha. "Well this will certainly be interesting," Mir muttered softly as he watched wolves being to assemble. He blinked in surprise as his eldest Enui suddenly appeared in front of him like magic. The affection she showed him made his heart bloom with warmth. At her request that they sit together, he nodded and returned the earlier gesture, "Of course, my beloved Enui." He rumbled softly, his mind glossing over the fact that the invite was only for him. The brute picked up his chunk of meat, so he wouldn't forget it and could eat it later after the Alpha spoke. He started to pad forward, heading towards the crowd, rumbling happily.
indentationHe was so surprised not moments later when Max announced the name's of the new Lead Hunter and Beta he dropped his chunk of meat. To be honest, Octavia was more of a surprise than Enui becoming beta, but Octavia was of little consequence. He figured that Max was playing the long game with the hunters, and waiting until a younger hunter had the needed experience to become lead hunter, as long as something doesn't take Octavia out of commission first. However, it took his brain a few moments to restart as he heard his daughter accept the position of beta. A howl of joy and congratulations left him as it always did when a wolf changed ranks. He'd done it when his two daughters had become trainees when they'd become full warriors, when Arian had become Lead Warrior, and now when his beloved daughter had become Beta.
indentation Kazimir resisted the urge to run up to his eldest and tackle her to the ground. Not that his body would let him. Pride burst out of his chest as he watched his eldest accept her place giving his girl a tooth grin, in an attempt to show how happy and proud he was. His tail wagged up a storm, something he would normally stop, but this was his baby girl. The pup he'd done his best to nurture and love since his mate and beloved... What was her name again? A frown of confusion slowly made its way to his face when he realized that he couldn't remember his mate's name. Horror bubbled in his gut, am i going to start forgetting my daughter too next?

Arian just stood there in stunned silence, shoulders tense. She didn’t want to be angry or upset, or even surprised. Yet after all she’d done, trying to get a little recognition, be it from the Pack or her family, Enui still managed to come out on top. Was it because she was Pack-born? Arian wasn't vying for a position as high as Beta, really, but it just felt like any ground she had gained was suddenly lost. I know I shouldn’t think of it like that, but all my life, I just wanted to be seen. Now she'll be in the spotlight. I’ve worked so hard, twice as hard as anyone else, to be accepted, coming from the outside. She’s never going to met me live this one down. Arian knew she should be happily cheering for her sister, join Kazimir's excitement, be happy that their beloved Alpha had finally named his second in command and found someone to trust, and siblings stood by each other, right? But…she just couldn’t find it in herself.

Max would not speak to the Pack again for a while, allowing the cheers to go up, allowing Enui her moment of glory, hard earned and much deserved. He did lean over to speak to her in a low murmur though. "Look at that. So many of them," he noted, gaze shifting to where Acero, Catania, and Jasmin had come to join the calling, other Packmates slowly trailing in after them, one by one. "All those cheers and bright faces, filled with hope for our future…it’s all for you."

The pretty gray she wolf let out a small laugh as she watched the boys tussle. She then shook her head, looking to Qaniit again. He was a very handsome male, in her opinion. However, her crush was only on Shadow, at the moment anyway. She didn't think she hid that very well, either, but maybe she did. She snapped out of thought, quickly nodding. "Since I'm just a hunter, I probably wouldn't be able to follow them there. Also, they are quite young yet, but maybe one day. I think they both could have those qualities. Sorin likes to follow Kaden, anyway, so maybe that means Kaden could be a good alpha one day." She didn't know, so she shook her head. She glanced around a moment, then back again.

She didn't want anything to happen to Shadow anytime soon, however. She was very fond of their alpha, maybe more than most. She knew every-wolf liked their alpha well enough. She nodded to the light colored male again, saying "Yes, I am, as it's quite a nice rank for me to be in. Don't get me wrong, I love Sorin. He's rather become a pawful lately, though. He keeps talking about wanting to be a trainee. He still has a whole month to go before then, though."

The smaller and slender black-phase pup giggled, a puppyish sound. He lowered his head to lick at white toes, then raised his head again. He barked and wagged at the other pup. Maybe he was a bit too excited here, but he was happy. He flicked his tail quickly back and forth, then stopped. He twitched his ears and squeaked as he was knocked over, then pawed and tried to kick at Kaden a bit.

The pretty dark she wolf nodded as she looked at the male. He was bigger than her. Which was usually normal for a male compared to a female. She didn't mind it so much. She smiled a bit as she looked at him, then listened as he spoke. "Maybe...I could try helping," she said. She didn't know if he'd accept that, since what she was thinking of was cuddling up to him whenever he'd have trouble sleeping. "Getting up early is a good thing, though. It allows an early start to hunting, and patrols and such."

The darker faced brown male glanced to Mouse a moment, then quickly looked ahead. He moved to join some of the others. He looked back to see Kass, Quin, and Serafina speaking. They hadn't come over here, but some of the others hadn't either. He was sure they could hear fine from there, anyway. He sighed but dipped his head in respect, Enui was the beta. He knew he was in trouble, but couldn't help looking at Arian. He moved over near her, asking "Are you okay?"

The pretty black-phase she wolf nodded to her friend. She said "I'm sure it will be a very good day," and chuckled a bit. She shook her head, then glanced around a moment. She said "Well, I could go hunting on my own but I probably shouldn't. Who knows what other predators I'd run into out there...Maybe we could go together, or see if there's a hunting party planned." She then looked over as Serafina approached them."oh, um...you're not bothering us, we were just talking about plans for the day."

She then looked up and over at the call from Max. She could hear from here, but they really should go over there. Her ears twitched and perked as she heard him announce lead hunter, then beta. She made a small sound at that one...but dipped her head a moment. She then glanced to the other two she wolves. She wondered what they felt.

Arian lifted her head the tiniest bit from where she had been staring sightlessly, at the sound of a voice not far off. Rion. She’d been wanting to speak with him about what had happened earlier, but now was not the time for such a thing. Beyond that, she had maintained no friendship with him. Perhaps he was a wolf she’d want to get to know, perhaps not. Now wasn’t the time to make up her mind. She composed herself. A Lead must always be level headed and calm, an inspiration and example for their subordinates, no matter what the situation, so that was exactly what she would strive to do.

Arian made no moves to move away from Rion as he sat down next to her, but she did only respond briefly, a curt, brisk nod of her head to acknowledge the other Warrior. "What’s not to be okay about? My very own dear sister has just become Beta, after all! Such an accomplishment, that many wolves will never get the chance to speak of, don’t you think? I’m simply surprised. A true honour for the family." A blatant lie, but she hoped she could deliver it well enough for now. The fact was that if she turned to the blunt honesty she was much more known for, it would get ugly fast. Today was a day to celebrate, not cry, that’s what the rest of the Pack would think, anyway.

Karter tilted his head to the side, trying anything to mask his dry amusement. Helping. As much as he wished for a good, full night's sleep, he doubted if there was something anyone could do to help. He’d already tried breathing exercises, meditation, herbs, not eating right before bed, and a regular sleep schedule. Nothing ever seemed to work. He really only had the one way of settling, and that was to exert himself nearly to the point of collapse before retiring to his nest. A good, long run, or he always slept well after a fight. The more eventful, the better. Navii couldn’t possibly know about that though, could she? He racked his brain, but he could never remember having told her anything, even though she was, without a doubt, one of his dearest friends.

Karter stood there quietly for what was probably just a little too long to be appropriate for the proposition. "Helping?" He echoed the word back to her as if he did not understand its meaning. In this context…he really didn’t. Karter scuffed a paw against the ground, feeling the gentle brush of thick, wet grass under the pad of his paw. "I swear I’ve tried just ‘ out everythin' there is to know. I’m open if you have ideas though. I think. Tell me. What is it you think you could do that I haven’t already tried?"

Leaving Lukina and Qaniit behind to talk about…sky-dogs only knew what. Honestly, at the moment he didn’t even care, even though he had been in conversation with Qaniit only a few minutes prior. He’d been too easily taken off by the idea of the chance to play. Soon, there would be no time for play anymore, only hard work and dedication, so he planned to enjoy the time he still had left to his childhood. Kaden giggled and dropped his weight to roll them both onto the ground in an attempt at play-wrestling.

She forced on the piles "the ones farthest to my right are sorted, right next to them are herbs we need to look for, these next ones are unsorte, the ones closest to Uciel are the ones he brought in just now" she says

He nodded "Toby! Storm! Are you planning a hunt?" He asked padding over to them

They smiled, then heard the Alpha and heard Oriole talk after "yep better go see what's up" they say padded over to the entrance of the Hunter's den

"We should get some breakfast first, then training will start" he says, he heard the Alpha's call and start towards him "come the Alpha is announcing the beta and lead hunter" He says walking over

The smaller and slender black-phase pup glanced to the adults a moment. He got distracted by them for barely a moment, and was rolled to the ground. He yelped, but it was surprise and not pain. Kaden hadn't hurt him, he'd just surprised him. It was only because Sorin had gotten distracted. He kicked some more, and pushed at the slightly bigger pup with front paws. He whined a bit, then nipped and bit at him. He wasn't being mean about it, it was all in good fun.

The pretty dark she wolf tilted her head a bit as he seemed to be thinking. She could sense...something from him, but kept quiet. She wondered if he was amused or something. Shaking her head, she wondered what he was thinking on. No, she didn't know the thing he did to get himself tired. If she did, she would likely have scolded him for pushing himself so hard. She didn't know about it, anyway. She made a small sound as he echoed back what she'd said, but as a question.

She nearly giggled, but stopped herself doing so. She nodded as she said "Yes, helping. I was just...thinking maybe if I slept beside you. We don't have to cuddle! Unless you'd want to," she said a bit too quiet. "Um...I could sing to you or hum or just...we could rest together. It...it sounds stupid, it sounds weird. It sounds weird, doesn't it?" she then asked. She really didn't know what she'd been thinking. Now she'd told him she wanted to sleep beside him, and he might think it odd.

The lighter brown semi fluffy one glanced around a moment. Turquoise eyes caught sight of all his pack mates around. He jumped a bit as Comet spoke to him, quickly looking to him. "Oh, um...good morning Comet," he said first. He then said "Fresh prey would be nice. Did you...want me to be part of the hunting party?" he asked, tilting his head some. He glanced towards the nursery, and shook his head. "I see Risen over there, I think he might be intending to bring them some food."

He'd noticed she'd been looking somewhere, and wasn't really moving or speaking. She wasn't howling with some of the others that had done so. Not that he himself had done so either. He sighed and shook his head as he looked at her. He wanted to say that she definitely didn't seem okay, was distracted or upset. However, he bit his tongue, so to speak. He only dipped his head to her, saying "You two don't seem to get along much, though...It is an honor though," he then said, not pushing her by saying she'd seemed more than just surprised, not saying he thought she might be lying.

The pretty white marked chocolate one listened as the alpha made the announcement. They howled a bit, then shook their head. "Enui is the new beta, then. That must be such an honor to her family," she said, having heard Kazimir howl loud and proud. She then wondered how Arian felt about it. She was pretty sure not a single wolf missed how those two acted around each other. They seemed to have a rivalry or something. Shaking her head, she said "We should probably go eat something."

She looked at the piles which her trainer mentioned "oh okay I will start on that other unsorted pile then as I think there is enough for two at the Uciel's pile" she said. Her eyes looked at Uciel there giving a warm yet sad smile, before turning toward the pile she decided to take to sort by herself.

She thought for a moment "Okay, then...hmm do you want to accompany me then?" she asked the white warrior "we could check those borders together and I could hunt something back to camp if I find anything there? we...could do our little tasks together right?" she said to her. She then sighed "of course if you want to go on patrol with other warriors, it's fine too" she decided to say.

He looked around the camp carefully when Blizzard mentioned Denzell "sure, I don't know where he is at then moment though, I did see him a moment ago thought" he responded noticing the white warrior there what about Lucas? and maybe Leo too...I mean those two are almost inseparable" he giggled.

He blinked his eyes "well I was not really doing a hunting party, but I do feel like as a hunter you do need to hunt..." he responded to him. He looked over to Risen when the other hunter mentioned him "yeah...maybe he will, but there are still plenty of mouths to feed, other than my sister..." he said simply.

The small still pretty shy den-mother looked over at Risen, blushing lightly as he looked her way. She was not sure about their relationship yet, even if she was excepting his pups, could she mention that to him, to settle things between them to make sure that she doesn't live up to false hopes? Smiling she lifted her tail with a quick greeting to the male hunter and sat down near the den to wait for whatever the hunter was going to bring to her.

She looked at the two wolves "a group together? to do what? a patrol?" she questioned flicking her tail and ears as she thought their words. She looked over to the fresh-kill pile as her trainer mentioned the Linkk and Comet "yes, they are there at the pile, could I get them for you maybe?" she asked her trainer, then looked at Storm "uh, Good morning by the way Storm, I think I didn't greet you properly, sorry heh" she said with a little bow.

The elder was not that surprised about the worry the alpha was having "Hoy, Just remember that you're a normal wolf-like everyone here, you just have a lot of responsibilities, but nobody here expects you to be always right and never do any mistakes, mistakes belong to the life" he said to her. Listening to a little bit more "yes I am, but there are things being there longer than you, doesn't really help you as many of my age group wolves are long gone, there is only those you are shared your pup hood with..." he said with a smile "it's not always a bad thing to change history, just trust yourself and your instincts about the next beta and leads" he said. He nodded "of course, I may tell you my option about whoever you have in your mind at" he said.

She watched the camp before sat dawn to look and listen to the meeting starting. Her eyes stared at Max more than she wanted to look, but she could do anything about those feelings she had for the alpha, even if they were wrong. She eventually closed her eyes for a moment, to calm her now wandering mind, still listening to the meeting thought 'Enui?' she thought to herself as she opened her eyes once again and looked at the warrior who will become a beta now.

She looked over to the black-furred she-wolf and then shook her head a little bit "no, there is no way those could bore me, speaking of weather and hoping for a large, delicious prey is something everyone is talking about nowadays" she said "You have no idea how I want to path in warm sunlight or eat something...great" she said licking her lips as the thought of the prey come to her mind. The large brown warrior watched after the movements of the lead warrior as she was getting some warriors to the patrol they were planning to do. He gave a greeting to the wolves as the she-wolf get to talk to them, including Rion and Mouse. He did really say anything about the situation with the omega, he personally didn't like that Rion gave her fresh prey before the pack even got out for their hunting patrols, but then again this time of year it was pretty hard for an omega to know when to eat when the catching good or enough prey is very variable. Perking his ears he turned to look over to their alpha and Enui, next to him "beta and lead hunter, now, huh?" he murmured silently by itself.

He smiled at Kazill "Okay Kaz, I promise to take my share of the prey today if the hinters manage to get anything big enough for share" he responded to him. The white wolf flicked his tail in excitement when the Kazill agreed with his ideas, which was not maybe the wisest yet safest one as they didn't know what they will face outside of their lands. He perked his ears over to Max "well, I think that may need to wait for a little while, Max has something great to say" he said to him, his eyes focusing on the alpha and Enui there.

He didn't manage to even answer his trainer, when the alpha spoke up "oh cool, sadly you can't be one now as we already have a lead warrior" he said to his trainer as he sat down to listen. Sure, it was no secret Arian and Enui weren't as close as many siblings were, and that there had been tension between them, so really, the lie Arian had tried to hide herself behind was a weak one, and she wasn’t surprised Rion had been able to see through it. That didn’t mean she had to like it, like being seen in a state of being frustrated and petty. And it WAS petty, she SHOULD be proud of her sister, right? But it just wasn’t there. Not yet. Maybe one day. "Indeed. A surprise, but I’m sure Enui will bring honour to our family." That was true enough, Enui had always done her very best for the Pack, no matter that meant. That was something Arian DID have lingering respecting for her for.

The pretty gray she wolf let out a small laugh as she watched the boys tussle. She then shook her head, looking to Qaniit again. He was a very handsome male, in her opinion. However, her crush was only on Shadow, at the moment anyway. She didn't think she hid that very well, either, but maybe she did. She snapped out of thought, quickly nodding. "Since I'm just a hunter, I probably wouldn't be able to follow them there. Also, they are quite young yet, but maybe one day. I think they both could have those qualities. Sorin likes to follow Kaden, anyway, so maybe that means Kaden could be a good alpha one day." She didn't know, so she shook her head. She glanced around a moment, then back again.

She didn't want anything to happen to Shadow anytime soon, however. She was very fond of their alpha, maybe more than most. She knew every-wolf liked their alpha well enough. She nodded to the light colored male again, saying "Yes, I am, as it's quite a nice rank for me to be in. Don't get me wrong, I love Sorin. He's rather become a pawful lately, though. He keeps talking about wanting to be a trainee. He still has a whole month to go before then, though."

The smaller and slender black-phase pup snorted and shook his head. "Well, I can't do that if you move away from me." He fell silent after that, crouching down. He crept towards his friend, then jumped at him, but must have done something wrong because he landed short. He yelped as he tumbled past Kaden. He whined as he laid there, getting his breath back. He then sat up, before standing and shaking himself. "Almost had it...um...are you cold?" he asked Kaden.

The pretty dark she wolf felt her skin heat up a bit. It was times like these that she was glad they were wolves and not humans. They had fur to cover such things. She shook her head a couple times, then nodded at the warrior, her best friend. She'd definitely call him her best friend out of every wolf here. She said "I...I want to, if it helps you. I want to try and help in whatever way I can," she finished. She glanced around a moment, then asked "Do you...want to try it, then?"

The lighter brown semi fluffy one glanced around a moment. Turquoise eyes caught sight of all his pack mates around. He jumped a bit as Comet spoke to him, quickly looking to him. "Oh, um...good morning Comet," he said first. He then said "Fresh prey would be nice. Did you...want me to be part of the hunting party?" he asked, tilting his head some. He glanced towards the nursery, and shook his head. "I see Risen over there, I think he might be intending to bring them some food."

The darker faced brown male sighed a bit as Leonidas came over...The other male seemed to only acknowledge Arian. He stopped himself from rolling his eyes at this. He then glanced to their lead warrior again, and nodded to her. "It surely is surprising," he said, though he was sure Enui would do fine. "An honor for sure," he said, then glanced around. "Well...we should probably get to work. It doesn't seem like Max had anything else to announce, after lead hunter and beta."

The pretty black-phase she wolf nodded to her friend. She said "I'm sure it will be a very good day," and chuckled a bit. She shook her head, then glanced around a moment. She said "Well, I could go hunting on my own but I probably shouldn't. Who knows what other predators I'd run into out there...Maybe we could go together, or see if there's a hunting party planned." She then looked over as Serafina approached them."oh, um...you're not bothering us, we were just talking about plans for the day."

She then looked up and over at the call from Max. She could hear from here, but they really should go over there. Her ears twitched and perked as she heard him announce lead hunter, then beta. She made a small sound at that one...but dipped her head a moment. She then glanced to the other two she wolves. She wondered what they felt.

The pretty white marked chocolate one listened as the alpha made the announcement. They howled a bit, then shook their head. "Enui is the new beta, then. That must be such an honor to her family," she said, having heard Kazimir howl loud and proud. She then wondered how Arian felt about it. She was pretty sure not a single wolf missed how those two acted around each other. They seemed to have a rivalry or something. Shaking her head, she said "We should probably go eat something."
