Mothers & Father’s Day event suggestion

I like the idea of a parents' day, but not mothers and/or fathers day for reasons above (trauma, heteronormativity, etc.)

Plus, many countries "celebrate" those "holidays" on different days of the year (US vs UK/Europe, for example) so no support for that reason, as well.

Saw this thread passing by, and would first like to say that I'd support this kind of special event; although I haven't had the best relationship with my own parents growing up, I wouldn't say this is much different to certain other holidays like Valentine's Day, Halloween and Christmas. Not everyone celebrates them, and for a number of reasons, but the general meaning is still there.

This event wouldn't necessarily be heteronormative from some of the posts I've seen. Today's world (or at least in certain parts) has grown tenfold when it comes to being accustomed towards non-conventional couples/parents, and if anything it would spread awareness of this. It's an important message, as it's not very often that same sex parents receive the same spotlight they should also have. Perhaps there could be items/pets that commemorate these different backgrounds?

Those are just my two cents, but would love to see this implemented in some way. Although the dates differentiate between countries, it's close to being a universal celebration of parents around the world.

No support. I could get behind a general Parents Day as long as there were no father figure pets/items, but father's day is a really miserable time for me. I already get hounded with ads and posts and articles and stuff during that time, I don't need CS to do it too. And I know I'm not the only one. For many people, Mothers and/or Fathers day is a painful, traumatic, sad, and angry time for them. And a lot of people don't even celebrate it.
I've even said before that I'm so glad pride month overshadows fathers day even though I don't observe it lol

Many of the holidays on cs give me a traumatic flashback but I get my pets and go if you catch my drift. My problems shouldn't prevent others from having fun.

mostly agree with this, but i think it would be better if it were more like a family day? because that completely avoids the relatively common parental trauma issue. also agree with your second reason - kinda hard to celebrate a holiday that's on wildly different days all over the world

I am not a parent myself,but I know there are many parents on cs. While I have trauma related to these kinds of days,I feel like it would be unfair for me to use my experience to determine whether or not the parents on cs get a little something to celebrate. I could just choose not to adopt pets if I was uncomfortable. I support,but I think a “parents day” or “family day” is better than father’s/mother’s day. That way it includes all parents traditional or not.

as anyone can be a father or mother, i support any kind of day celebrating parents. the titles arent restricted to just females and males. theres father figure mothers, and mother figure fathers too. dont forget the enbys that do both or one or the other.

theres also guardians and simply parents. i think the only people boxing father and mother in too far is ourselves. my mom was the mom and dad for me.

agreed, i like parent day! there could be pets released (for example a dog) that has a small pup or two next to it!
