Based on the pound pets thread it doesn't seem to have been that long before I got to it. Also, I didn't know about the pound bots showing what rare pets might be there, that seems like an incredibly unfair feature :/
The actual Pound page ALSO shows what rare pets might be there; this is literally something you can do by going on the Pound's account when it's opening. Also, seeing a PNG of a rare has never actually helped me in catching said rare? It's not like the bot forces that pet to spawn on your page π I sincerely do not understand this argument
it's the fact that the bots show
only the rares+ and you don't have to look through the actual account
And? Again, my question is what benefit does that give ME as a player? It's not like the bot forces those pets to appear on your page nor does it even give you a link to said pets, it's literally a flat PNG image compiled of the pets.
It's a bit tiring when people keep repeating the same arguments in an attempt to make the bot out to be some nefarious tool for cheating when it's at most a QoL feature that does the same things the site itself does. Did you know that you can use the Chicken Smoothie Helper (a widely liked and useful tool for arranging groups) to highlight all rares on the page within a group? It's really not any different.
Edit// The bickering about the bot also distracts from the ACTUAL issues with the Pound atm: small and infrequent openings.

I think discussing the bot is valid. The pound HAS gotten worse because of it, but it's true it's not the only issue.
There's a lot of things at play here and the bot IS one of them. Although it does the same thing you can do yourself, hear me out.
Instead of the few hundred people that are online and checking/aware of the pounds opening the bot sends out a notification to THOUSANDS of offline people in the discord groups and all they have to do is log on for less than 10 minutes to try and get a pet. Due to that the current way the pound is set up is obviously not sustainable, and the bot is one of those reasons.

some of you guys when you ll find out the ENTIRE pound account used to be viewable not just the adoptions group ππ±π¨
when u realise u could have made lists of ALL of one specific pet in the pound EVER so u could keep their ids so even if u missed the opening u couls trade for them by tracking their ids: π΅βπ«
why is the pound bot, an incredibly useful feature that just shows a png (by the by, when the bot breaks, users take this role themselves and share images created by themselves of all the r + pets in the following opening! fun fact), very helpfully identifies pets and items and is otherwise just... a timer bot the subject of heated discussion...lol

Just to shift discussion a bit: Looking at the Pound's
upcoming adoptions group you can see the next upcoming drop will have 643 pets. You can also manually look through the pages, see the number of rares and oldies, but that is past the point. Currently speaking (evening time for Europeans) there are 533 users online, but to my knowledge that value is usually around 600-700 during peak hours. The number of online users is bound to naturally spike up around Pound opening times to around 800-1000 - it's absolutely no surprise pets get snatched up at lightning speed. Instead of arguing about an all-things-considered harmless bot online,
should we not be advocating for larger pet amounts per Pound opening instead? Personally I'd rather the Pound close with some pets still in it than get instantly emptied due to small quantities.
If the Pound running out of pets is a genuine concern, maybe it's time for staff to start considering either emptying out banned accounts quicker (I know multiple users banned over a year ago who still have their pets) or even just. beginning to generate pets for the Pound to boost the numbers.
