Tell me your hobbies!

Ooh, what species, if you don't mind my asking? I keep isopods, but I really want to also get into millipedes and jumping spiders. And I have a big fascination with itty bitty crustacean types as well (like brine shrimp, fairy shrimp, I want Thai micro crabs eventually, etc).

I just went off to college so I had to cut back my collection to a 10 gallon tank of Madagascar hissing cockroaches and another 10 gal where I keep mealworms of all life stages to feed my leopard gecko. But I have a blue-death feigning beetle and some random large darkling beetles in there for fun, too. Once I get my own place I'm definitely going to expand my invert collection! Couldn't leave too many pets in the hands of my family. Check out the invertebrate enthusiasts thread ^^ Sometimes it's pretty dead, but when it gets going it really gets going lol. You can definitely find some other isopod fans there!

Oh man this is so cool- I had to google blue death feigning beetles but they look so friend-shaped. are they scaredy cats who will feign death often?

I’ve never had any pets. I guess collecting the knowledge of how to care for them and setting up the routine for it is like a hobby! i can see the analogy to my spending hours collecting knowledge on tabletop games and maintaining the groups to play them

Does sleeping count as a hobby? Existing requires all my spoons.

Yep, if you pick them up or poke them they'll flip upside down, bend their legs like a dead fly, and stay still for as long as needed. But you can tell they're alive because their antennae will move around as they sense their environment.
