Why does the Four Calling Birds otter have three birds? Is the otter itself the fourth bird?

(Also can't wait for Five Golden Rings otter. I wonder if it will be ring-necked pheasants like the song originally meant, or jewelry golden rings).

I assume the otter is the fourth bird, yes. It is colored to look like the blackbirds after all. ^^

I actually had no idea the song originally meant pheasants instead of rings. o: That would be interesting! Though, if they went the actual jewelry route, I wonder if it'll have gold rings on its tail or feet or something?

i’m imagining the rings as kind of bracelets, with one on each arm/leg and then one either as a necklace or on the tail! but whatever it actually ends up being, i just know it’s gonna be so cute ^^

Mayhaps it's a Faverolles chicken? I did some digging, and that specific type of chicken is the one most commonly associated with the song. It does also match with the otter somewhat.[/quote]

I think that the PPS otter is so adorable but I am in love with the 4 calling birds otter that just matured.

I'm absolutely loving the otter line work. So cute I hope we get more in the future. But I gotta say kinda disappointed with the items this year. The clothing and armor are great, but I wish the horse plushies were whole. Because I collect plushies together and now I have a bunch of plush with holes in the middle.

The artist confirmed that the otters will be another addition to our regular adopts, so we will definitely be seeing more of them! c:
