i absolutely adore the name salem, however i had a little girl kitty in the past who i blessed with that name, and she passed away not too long ago, so i'm not quite ready to pass the name onto another kitty. it might be silly, but i feel like i'd be replacing her somehow, and i don't want to do that. binx, sylvester, and lunar are so stinkin cute!! i'll add them to my list of suggestions i have typed up so far! it's quite a short list, there's only two other names on there as of currently. my sister likes the name malcolm for him, and my brother likes the name seamus. they both went with little old men names haha.

hi guys! long time, no post, haha. i honestly can't remember the last time i posted in here 😅 but i come to you today with a question! but first, a little back story! so, a couple of days ago i posted on my listo that i wanted a female kitten because i was tired of owning nothing but stinky boys, lol. and so! because my life is a joke, the universe decided to send me another cat. in the form of a lovely little old man ;w;

say hello to kitty, who as of yet, does not have a name.



i've been looking for potential owners for the past couple of days, but so far, no luck. i took him to the vet and got him checked out. no microchip. he's fixed, but no tipped ear, which suggests he was taken in as a pet and not as a trap and release. his test for FeLV came back negative, but he's FIV positive. his whole mouth was inflamed, so she gave him a shot of antibiotics and steroids. he's very skinny, his little spine and his hip bones are poking out, so she wants to wait until he puts on a bit more weight before she gives him his rabies shot and his FeLV vaccine. i haven't introduced him to any of my kitties yet, he's just been chilling in my sisters bedroom with her cat for the time being. he's very friendly, loves people, and gets along fine with other kitties from what i can tell. he hasn't tried to fight with my sisters cat despite her hissing and growling at him all the time, he just ignores her haha. so, my question to you fellow cat lovers! what should we name this cutie? my sister wants to name him malcolm, but idk, i just don't feel like it suits him, ya know? so, gimmie ideas people! what's he look like to you? i think seamus is cute, but idk, can't tell if that suits him either, lol. i kind of want a little old man name, cause we're pretty sure he's up there in age, and even if he's not, the vet made a good point and said he'd grow into it, lol. also! obviously i know that if an owner turns up, i'm gonna have to give him back, but in the mean time, i need something to call him!! <3

wow he's really getting a good list of names going! Malcolm and Seamus are also great names; he does strike me as a cat who could pull of Seamus.

And don't feel silly about the Salem thing, that's perfectly valid. Although it can be used as a way to honour their memory, I'd never want to reuse pet names as I also feel like it would feel like I'm replacing them.
I had a Salem who was one of my first ever cats (like I said, classic name - and I was obsessed with Sabrina the Teenage Witch at the time) so that name is now off the list for future cats! Besides, if I called any new cat Salem I feel like it would be an excuse for them to act like a grumpy old man like their namesake...lol.

I had a cat named Tigger, he died a year ago and his favorite treat was literally Cheetos… I got a new kitten about 9 months after he passed… he’s orange and white and I named him Cheeto.. they could always branch a name based on their past cats likes, too! Tigger lived 12 years and $300 or over at different vets trying to save him nothing worked and I don’t know what he had… I miss my boy. He passed in my arms and that was the hardest day of my life besides when our trailer caught fire (electrical) and we lost our beagle copper and cat lunar to the fire… literally two months after losing tigger.

Tigger, copper and lunar are all cremated. <3

Pro tip from someone who's lost 3 plants to my perfect angel of a cat: cage the plants
I'm using metal grid panels and even though the cats can fit their paws through, they leave them alone
I doubt this works for all cats, but there are currently 3 cats in the house and after almost 2 months of the plant cage, none of them have taken a bite from my plants

(of course, keep poisonous/harmful plants completely out of reach of cats)

my newest cat would absolutely destroy any plant that had dangling leaves; he'd lie on his back and claw at the leaves of my monstera and give it hideous scars ;-;
Thankfully after a few times of catching him in the act and just telling him a firm 'no', he stopped completely. My friend has his brother and he will stare at her as he chews and uproots her plants. Funny how some cats will listen to you and some just want chaos, lol.

Someone turns two... tomorrow!
This is Risa, who came to me at a dark time in my life and made the whole world shine a bit brighter. She's a mix. Mom was a stray.

My friend told me her boss had taken in a stray cat who proceeded to have four kittens. I jokingly said, "if there's a grey one, I want one!" and it turns out, all four were grey. Well, three months later this cutie came to me and I've been in love with her ever since. She's SO sweet and loving (despite what the photo shows) and she's just an absolute cuddlebug.

Hello everyone.
Today, my cat Bubbles passed away. She lived for 8 years. She had heart issues, so I knew she wasn’t going to live for as long as other cats, but I wasn’t ready. She died peacefully in her sleep. I miss her. This is the first time I’ve dealt with a sudden pet death. Does anyone have advice?
