she shrugged, nudging the prism close to herself. and although heavily lacerated, the little stone sputtered to life as she touched the warmth of her paw against it. liquid midnight refracted off its edges, casting bits and shards of light in a thousand different direction. and captured in the prism… a fleeting glimpse of another world. a galaxy… unlike their own.

if the legends breathed truth, it was a mirror to another realm. one with rose blush skies swirled with cerulean wisps with ships that sailed not in the depths, but in the heavens.

“it’s a lune.” she flipped the stone, holding it out towards her partner. “and it’s authentic.”

Crowcall had not really thought anything was strange about his patrol. It was routine, boring, with not even a small mouse to hunt! What he would not give to chase down a gull or scare a Two-Leg, or just.... just... oh! He paused, stopping in his steps as he trotted up to a small pile of sand on the beach that was definitely out of place. As he got closer, he realized: it was a cat! He startled, nearly jumping back. Should he go back and get the others? Should he scare them away?

Hearing him approach, the cat looked up at him with exhaustion. "Leave me be. I wish to pass here, in my favorite place..."

"Pass? Like... DIE?!?" He asked, startled, the fur on his shoulders rising up.

"...A lone cat has no place in this world. A kittypet tossed out when my Two-Legs moved away..."

"I know a place, and it won't involve dying. And if my Clan Leader has anything bad to say about it he can suck on a rotten gull egg! Now come on, get up! We're getting you some food and... a home. Nobody deserves this." he hissed low at the very thought, before with his head nudging the emaciated cat along to follow him.
